estimation of passive interference (so-called, a clutter), which is caused by the point objects, is considered for radar systems. The initial sequence of sampled correlated readings of the point (in distance) target is used as an initial one causing by the antenna beam scanning in a surveillance radar. Basing on the statistical description of this sequence, the likelihood function is introduced and its properties are discussed. An estimation algorithm of the clutter correlation coefficient is synthesized according to the sample of initial correlated readings using the maximal likelihood approach. A structural scheme is given for the correlation coefficient measuring system. The clutter correlation coefficient estimations obtained are asymptotically effective. On the base of the Cramer-Rao equation, the asymptotic formula for a variance of the correlation coefficient is derived, which determines a dependence of estimation accuracy on the value of the correlation coefficient and a number of averaged readings. The formula derived allows provision of necessary estimation accuracy by means of appropriate choice of the averaged reading number. Statistical modeling of the estimation algorithm is described and performed. Modeling results are given, which characterize a dependence of estimation accuracy of the clutter correlation coefficient upon the averaged readings number. A comparison of theoretical and empirical results for estimation accuracy analysis is performed. Statistical modeling results confirm the asymptotical character of the estimation accuracy of the clutter correlation coefficient.

A Digital Signal Processing method for Neutron Gamma Discrimination [1] is described in this paper. A Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) was used for estimation noiseless signal shape. Based on this shape, detection method was introduced. This method uses projection operation into signal and noise subspace and Signal to Noise Ratio estimation. This method was compared with another one proposed by [2]. Booth method was implemented in MATLAB. Computation was done on signals from scintillators. Data acquisition was dome with high quality hardware. The Neutron Gamma Discrimination algorithm operate on digital samples from ADC converter. Hardware used for data acquisition in this this paper was described in [3]. On the end, the results of this two methods was presented and compared. The signal model in this methods assume additional, white, Gaussian noise.

At present, most collaborative guidance laws are not suitable for the network packet loss situation, leading to be applied difficultly in practical applications. This paper proposed a novel cooperative guidance law under network packet loss situation. Firstly, the discrete time cooperative guidance law was proposed in the case of network packet loss and the estimation algorithm of the time-to-go was derived. Secondly, the estimated error of the time-to-go was investigated and the convergence of the cooperative guidance law based on the estimated the time-to-go was proved. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed cooperative guidance law.

The aim of this work is to linearize and control a non linear model of a biological nitrogen removal process. The paper illustrates the use of a linearized model in the design of an observer (software sensor) and a linear control technique based on a phenomenalogical model of the process. This model describes the complete dynamics of autotrophic and heterotrophic biomasses, biodegradable organic and nitrogenous matters. The control approach structure is combined with the estimation algorithm, for the on-line reconstruction of unmeasured biological states of the bioprocess. The efficiency of both the control and estimation are demonstrated via computer simulations.

In this paper we consider position control of underwater vehicles through inversion of differential kinematics based on uncalibrated, relative to the water, velocity sensors and unknown marine current. An estimation algorithm, based on the above measurements, estimates calibration parameters and marine current, assuring convergence of the estimated velocities to the true quantities. A kinematic control algorithm assures convergence to zero of the position tracking error. An extension of the basic estimation algorithm has been considered, in which position measurements are considered sampled at low rate and randomly spaced in time. Computer simulations are given of the proposed position tracking control of an underactuated underwater vehicle.

Based on the augmented matrix and approximate dynamic programming algorithms, the H infinity tracking control problem for unknown nonlinear system is addressed in this paper. An identifier NN is first used to approximate the unknown system. An augmented matrix based on the desired trajectory and system state is then constructed using the identifier, such that the tracking control problem is transformed into the regulation one. We use another NN to approximate the performance index function of the HJI equation, such that H infinity tracking control pairs are calculated without solving the HJI equation. Moreover, we use an estimation algorithm to estimate unknown parameters in neural network. Finally, a simulation is presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is the pivotal function of cognitive radio (CR) to prevent harmful interference with primary users (PUs) and identify the available spectrum for improving the spectrum's utilization. However, it opens an opportunity for Byzantine attackers to exploit the decision-making process by sending false sensing decisions, thereby causing degradation of the cognitive radio network (CRN) quality of service but currently there are no specific security protocols for it. For this aim, we formulate a dynamic Byzantine attack model to characterize attack behaviors of the malicious user (MU) in this paper. Based on this dynamic attack model, it is expected that the fusion center (FC) benefit from Byzantine attack to contribute to the CSS performance. To this end, the FC needs to have certain knowledge of attack strategies, then we propose an estimation algorithm for the FC to estimate the MU's attack parameters. Furthermore, the reputation value (RV) is introduced to evaluate the impact of Byzantine attack exploitation on the CSS performance and analyze the conditions of Byzantine attack exploitation. Finally, simulation results show the effectiveness and correctness of Byzantine attack exploitation.

Growing research in computer vision obliges reliable and efficient target tracking methods. This letter proposes a review on target estimation and tracking algorithms grouped into two namely deterministic and nondeterministic based algorithms. Various issues affecting success and/or failure of such algorithms are discussed as well as presenting current references (fifty five in total) on the topic. In conclusion, no single algorithm can be ideal for all tracking problems. It is hoped that with only two groups of tracking and estimation algorithms, this work will guide tracking system designers on choosing a suitable algorithms for use.

In Formal Concept Analysis, stability is an important utility measure to rank concepts. However, computation of stability is considered to be a hard problem. Efficient algorithms having good bounds to estimate stability holds promise. In this paper, an effective graph-based technique is proposed to estimate stability. Our estimation algorithm has a polynomial time complexity of O(vertical bar A vertical bar(2)) where vertical bar A vertical bar is the number of vertices.

The use of lithium-ion battery energy storage (BES) has grown rapidly during the past year for both mobile and stationary applications. For mobile applications, BES units are used in the range of 10-120 kWh. Power grid applications of BES are characterized by much higher capacities (range of MWh) and this area particularly has great potential regarding the expected energy system transition in the next years. The optimal operation of BES by an energy storage management system is usually predictive and based strongly on the knowledge about the state of charge (SOC) of the battery. The SOC depends on many factors (e.g. material, electrical and thermal state of the battery), so that an accurate assessment of the battery SOC is complex. The SOC intermediate prediction methods are based on the battery models. The modeling of BES is divided into three types: fundamental (based on material issues), electrical equivalent circuit (based on electrical modeling) and balancing (based on a reservoir model). Each of these models requires parameterization based on measurements of input/output parameters. These models are used for SOC model based calculation and in battery system simulation for optimal battery sizing and planning. Empirical SOC assessment methods currently remain the most popular because they allow practical application, but the accuracy of the assessment, which is the key factor for optimal operation, must also be strongly considered. This scientific contribution is divided into two papers. Paper part I will present a holistic overview of the main methods of SOC assessment. Physical measurement methods, battery modeling and the methodology of using the model as a digital twin of a battery are addressed and discussed. Furthermore, adaptive methods and methods of artificial intelligence, which are important for the SOC calculation, are presented. In paper part II, examples of the application areas are presented and their accuracy is discussed.
