The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a United States military developed technology designed to allow for precise navigation. It uses orbiting satellites that send signals to receivers. These receivers take the signals from each satellite that can send it a signal to determine the precise location of the receiver. While the military continues to use and upgrade GPS, civilian usage has become the largest segment of GPS usage. Civilian GPS usage ranges from navigation to providing accurate timing information due to the atomic clocks on board each satellite. Vulnerabilities exist within each portion of GPS, the effects of which could cause economic loss and a potential for loss of life. As usage increases, the possibility of targeting GPS for attack by hostile parties increases. Studies conducted since 2001 have examined the effect vulnerabilities to GPS would have on certain sections of United States' economy and businesses. These reports discussed these vulnerabilities, determined their effects, and examined mitigation strategies in place to minimize these effects. These studies recognized that GPS loss or degradation would have significant impacts in many areas. As such, the next logical step would be to create a more focused approach to protecting GPS systems and conducting further research. The Department of Homeland Security, in conjunction with the Department of Defense and the Department of Transportation, would oversee this new approach. The increased use of cloud storage services creates the need for examiners to be prepared for all cloud storage options during a forensic analysis. This Capstone paper focuses on the cloud storage service Copy. While similar research has been performed on other cloud storage services, a forensic examination baseline of Copy was needed. Background research was performed on the service itself, followed by forensic imaging and analysis. Hard drive images were taken before and after Copy software installation, before and after file synchronization, and following software uninstallation from the test virtual machine. The hard drive images were analyzed to determine directory locations, files associated with Copy, what user information can be identified, and registry and event log changes made to the system. A memory image was taken following file synchronization to search for the user password. A network packet capture was performed during the file synchronization to determine if the synchronization was secure, what IP addresses interact with the transfer, and where they are physically located. The purpose of this research was to develop and evaluate a user level and kernel level utility to perform enhanced forensic memory captures for the Windows 7 operating system. This forensic tool extracts only memory associated with user memory for a single process or program. The research perform was based on the Microsoft Windows 7 memory model. It would be beneficial for a forensic examiner to understand: how the Windows operating system requests memory, tools used to view how memory allocation, how programs are stored on the disk. This research will benefit other researchers and allow them to create memory analysis tools from acquired process memory. The purpose of this project was to create a curriculum that increases knowledge and awareness for individuals in the helping professions when working with clients dealing with grief and loss associated with death. for helping professionals, it is important to have a foundation of understanding about the significance grief has in relation to a person's life and culture. To accomplish this goal, the curriculum addresses the following topics: types and models of grief; common and evidence-based interventions; and cultural differences focusing on the spiritual practices: Latino, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Chinese, and Korean Americans.

The Digital Age has formed a society which relies upon digital devices to complete everyday activities, and consequently, digital devices have become a way to facilitate both traditional and cybercrime. As technology continues to evolve, state and local law enforcement agencies face increasing pressures to improve both their cybercrime and digital forensics investigation efforts. This body of research examines the rapid growths in digital devices and Internet usage and lack of resources at the state and local level to investigate cybercrimes and crimes with a digital component. This research analyzes rises in digital forensics case backlogs at the state and local level and explores impacts of digital forensics case backlogs on society and law enforcement. This study further assesses current digital forensics efforts and potential cost effective solutions state and local law enforcement agencies can employ to decrease backlogs. The need for state and local law enforcement to enhance their cybercrime and digital forensics investigation efforts is crucial for maintaining the security of society. This study evaluates the implementation of open source tools, automated tools, triage, and civilian digital forensics examiners to potentially reduce digital forensics case backlogs at the state and local level. The culmination of this study presents measures to continue this research. An important finding was that many factors contribute to the growth of digital forensics case backlogs and there is no seamless solution to address such challenges through technology's ever evolving landscape. Oregon's Statewide Planning Goals embody Smart Growth in their effort to revitalize urban areas, finance environmentally responsible transportation systems, provide housing options, and protect natural resources; yet the State defers to its municipalities to implement this planning framework. This research focuses on Goal 14 (Urbanization), linking most directly to Smart Growth Principle 7 (Strengthen and Direct Development toward Existing Communities). It assesses Eugene's, Keizer's, Salem's, and Springfield's growth management policies that specifically target infill development of single family homes against this Goal and Principle. Though these municipalities must demonstrate consistency with the same Goals (see Supplemental file 1 for this context), this research questions whether sufficiently different policy approaches to curtailing sprawl yield significantly different results. The primary analytical method is a logistic regression that uses parcel-level data to understand how administration affects development by isolating these policies' direct effects on observed outcomes (see Supplemental file 2 for this theory).

This study examines how various features of a self-service kiosk (SSK) affected consumer satisfaction with the kiosk. Data gathered via an online survey of 84 adults provided insight into what features of retail SSK affected consumer's satisfaction with the kiosk. The Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model (Meherabian and Russell, 1974) was used as a framework to analyze the data. Multiple regression was performed to determine the predictive value of the kiosk features effect on consumer's emotional state (pleasure, arousal, dominance) and consumer's satisfaction with the kiosk. Navigation, the kiosk enclosure, ease of use, and usability was shown to have an effect on satisfaction. Pleasure was tested via the Sobel test to determine its mediating value between usability and satisfaction, and was shown to be a positive mediating variable. Implications of this study suggest retailers should focus their efforts on ease of use and software navigation of SSKs. Keywords: S-O-R, Self-service technology, retail, kiosk

Experts from across the entire Cybersecurity field have expressed the lack of, and need for, a comprehensive way to build situational awareness in the cyber domain. The lack of coherent solution to this problem affects cyber security command and control as a context based decision- making process. This results in continued compromise and lack of coordination of response. Command and control is poorly defined though it is used in all of the traditional operational domains. Starting with a definition of command and control compiled from multiple resources, its application in the traditional operational domains sheds light on unarticulated requirements for a cyber C2 system. In turn, insights from what has been learned about the unique cyber domain can be applied in the traditional operational domains, as well. The result is a possible redefinition of cyberspace in relation to other operational domains. Red light running is a serious safety issue in urban areas. The automobile crashes caused by red light violations are the most severe types, often leading to major injury or fatalities. Studies have been performed in various locations to study the frequency of red light running, but few data are available for cold regions in general or Alaska specifically. This study started by looking at various methods of data collection for red light violations and found video recording systems the most practical. Six intersections in Anchorage, Alaska were then observed and a video recording system was utilized to identify the frequency and severity of violations. The intersections studied were found to have an average violation rate of 1 violation per 1,000 entering vehicles. Similar studies performed at different locations in the United States found violations rates two to four times greater then those found in Anchorage. A review of the historical crashes showed that both severe and non-severe violations contributed to crashes. The data also showed a 73% increase in violations under wet road conditions.
