This paper considers the development of a brain driven car, which would be of great help to the physically disabled people. Since these cars will rely only on what the individual is thinking they will hence not require any physical movement on the part of the individual. The car integrates signals from a variety of sensors like video, weather monitor, anti-collision etc. it also has an automatic navigation system in case of emergency. The car works on the asynchronous mechanism of artificial intelligence. It's a great advance of technology which will make the disabled, able.

This paper discusses the design and development of low-cost and longer battery life wireless pulse oximetry system. The design combined a low-power analog sensor circuit with a software DSP system and a low-power wireless transceiver. The fft algorithm was used to process the filtered signals for accurate calculations of % SpO(2) and beats per minute(bpm). The prototype device connected to a Windows PC via USB. The patient parameters i.e. % SpO(2) and bpm were continuously measured and transferred to a central monitoring station via a wireless sensor network for display. The system provided several advantages over existing models, primarily adding longer battery life and low unit cost. The system performed very satisfactorily and has been successfully implemented.

In this paper, the effects of superposing and multiplying sampling noise on band-limited periodic signal measurements are investigated as viewed from spectrum. The relations between the statistic characteristics of signal spectrum and three parameters such as signal harmonic frequency, statistic characteristics of sampling noise and numbers of points of fft algorithm are given. Meanwhile, as a special case of the multiplying sampling noise, the effect of time jitter is also analysed. The conclusions are valuable for analysing the sampled signal and system quality.

The computational method of flickering is discussed closely and a new advanced method based on the fft algorithm is put forward. By course of the test environment that IEC regulated, a simulation based on Matlab is completed The test proved that the new method can both simplify calculation and meet the requirement of accuracy that IEC demanded.

The S-transform can't both have the time and frequency resolution at the same time. So in order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a new joint algorithm for parameter estimation of frequency-hopping signals. Frist, S-transform with short window is obtained. Then, accurate estimation of hopping time is extracted from the time-frequency ridge of S-transform. Finally, using the fft (Fast Fourier Transformation) algorithm, we can estimate the frequency of the signal between the two hopping times. Considering the distortion of the ridge line at high frequency component, and combining with the statistical property of white Gaussian noise in S-spectrum, an indirect band-pass filtering method in time-frequency plane is proposed to smooth the ridge line and decline the influence of noise. Theoretical analysis and simulation results verify of the effectiveness and feasibility.

Many neural network models have been mathematically demonstrated to be universal approximators. For accurate function approximation, the number of samples in the training data set must be high enough to cover the entire input data space. But this number increases exponentially with the dimension of the input space, increasing the space- and time-complexity of the learning process. Hence, the neural function approximation is a complex task for problems with high dimension of the input space, like those based on signal spectral analysis. In this paper, some aspects of neural estimation of signal spectral components are discussed. The goal is to find a feed-forward neural network (FFNN) model for estimating spectral components of a signal, with computational complexity comparable with Fast Fourier Transform (fft) algorithm, but easier to implement in hardware. Different FFNN architectures, with different data sets and training conditions, are analyzed. A butterfly-like FFNN (BFFNN) was proposed, which has much less weight connections and better performance than FFNN.

This paper presents a novel transformation technique that can derive various fast Fourier transform (fft) in a unified paradigm. The proposed algorithm is to find a common twiddle factor at the input side of a butterfly and migrate it to the output side. Starting from the radix-2 fft algorithm, the proposed common factor migration technique can generate most of previous fft algorithms without using mathematical manipulation. In addition, we propose new fft algorithms derived by applying the proposed twiddle factor moving technique, which reduce the number of twiddle factors significantly compared with the previous algorithms being widely used for pipelined fft processing.

The cycle frequencies of a cyclostationary signal can be used for the signal identification and classification, separation of the overlapped signals in cycle domain, and so on. Efficient cycle frequency acquisition depends on the fast measurement of cyclic autocorrelation function (CAF) or spectral correlation function (SCF) of the signal. Presently the relative efficient CAF and SCF measuring methods mainly include the cyclic correlogram, the well-known fast Fourier transform accumulation method (FAM), and so on. Motivated by these methods, a new efficient cycle frequency acquisition method which integrates the fast Fourier transform (fft) algorithm with the autocorrelated cyclic autocorrelation function, named FACA, is presented. With the presented method, we can acquire the cycle frequencies of a cyclostationary signal more efficiently with a given level of reliability. Meanwhile, by enlarging the fft window width of the FACA method we can get the same cycle frequency resolution as the benchmarked method FAM, but the computation cost still can be spared at this case.

Dimension reduction model for two-spatial dimensional stochastic wind field: Hybrid approach of spectral decomposition and wavenumber spectral representation

A renewed methodology for simulating two-spatial dimensional stochastic wind field is addressed in the present study. First, the concept of cross wavenumber spectral density (WSD) function is defined on the basis of power spectral density (PSD) function and spatial coherence function to characterize the spatial variability of the stochastic wind field in the two-spatial dimensions. Then, the hybrid approach of spectral representation and wavenumber spectral representation and that of proper orthogonal decomposition and wavenumber spectral representation are respectively derived from the Cholesky decomposition and eigen decomposition of the constructed WSD matrices. Immediately following that, the uniform hybrid expression of spectral decomposition and wavenumber spectral representation is obtained, which integrates the advantages of both the discrete and continuous methods of one-spatial dimensional stochastic field, allowing for reflecting the spatial characteristics of large-scale structures. Moreover, the dimension reduction model for two-spatial dimensional stochastic wind field is established via adopting random functions correlating the high-dimensional orthogonal random variables with merely 3 elementary random variables, such that this explicitly describes the probability information of stochastic wind field in probability density level. Finally, the numerical investigations of the two-spatial dimensional stochastic wind fields respectively acting on a long-span suspension bridge and a super high-rise building are implemented embedded in the fft algorithm. The validity and engineering applicability of the proposed method are thus fully verified, providing a potentially effective approach for refined wind-resistance dynamic reliability analysis of large-scale complex engineering structures.

Dynamic response of a pavement-subgrade-soft ground system subjected to moving traffic load

This paper introduces a three-dimensional model for the steady-state response of a pavement-subgrade-soft ground system subjected to moving traffic load. A semi-analytical wave propagation model is introduced which is subjected to four rectangular moving loads and based on a calculation method of the dynamic stiffness matrix of the ground. In order to model a complete road system, the effect of a simple road model is taken into account including pavement, subgrade and soft subsoil. The pavement and the subgrade are regarded as two elastic layers resting on a poroelastic half-space soil medium. The priority has been given to a simple formulation based on the principle of spatial Fourier transforms compatible with good numerical efficiency and yet providing quick solutions. The frequency wave-number domain solution of the road system is obtained by the compatibility condition at the interface of the structural layers. By introducing fft (Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm, the numerical results are derived and the influences of the observation coordinates, the load speed and excitation frequency, the permeability of the soft subsoil, and the rigidity of the subgrade on the response of the pavement-subgrade-soft ground system are investigated. The numerical results show that the influences of these parameters on the dynamic response of the road system are significant.
