A feedback control design is proposed for stochastic systems with finite second moment which aims at maximising the region of attraction of the equilibrium point. Polynomial Chaos (PC) expansions are employed to represent the stochastic closed loop system by a higher dimensional set of deterministic equations. By using the PC expanded system representation, the available information on the uncertainty affecting the system explicitly enters the control design problem. Further, this allows Lyapunov methods for deterministic systems to be used to formulate the stability criteria certifying the region of attraction. These criteria are parametrized by the feedback gain and formulated in a polynomial optimization program which is solved using sum-of-squares methods. This approach offers flexibility in the choice of the stochastic feedback law and accounts for input constraints. The application is demonstrated by two numerical examples. In the literatures, to design state feedback controllers to make the response Boolean network synchronise with the drive Boolean network is rarely considered. Motivated by this, feedback control design for the complete synchronisation of two coupled Boolean networks is investigated in this paper. A necessary condition for the existence of a state feedback controller achieving the complete synchronisation is established first. Then, based on the necessary condition, the feedback control law is proposed. Finally, an example is worked out to illustrate the proposed design procedure.

Tracking is a crucial problem for nonlinear systems as it ensures stability and enables the system to accurately follow a desired reference signal. Using Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy models, this paper addresses the problem of fuzzy observer and control design for a class of nonlinear systems. The Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy models can represent nonlinear systems because it is a universal approximation. Firstly, the T–S fuzzy modeling is applied to get the dynamics of an observational system in order to estimate the unmeasurable states of an unknown nonlinear system. There are various kinds of nonlinear systems that can be modeled using T–S fuzzy systems by combining the input state variables linearly. Secondly, the T–S fuzzy systems can handle unknown states as well as parameters known to the indirect adaptive fuzzy observer. A simple feedback method is used to implement the proposed controller. As a result, the feedback linearization method allows for solving the singularity problem without using any additional algorithms. A fuzzy model representation of the observation system comprises parameters and a feedback gain. The Lyapunov function and Lipschitz conditions are used in constructing the adaptive law. This method is then illustrated by an illustrative example to prove its effectiveness with different kinds of nonlinear functions. A well-designed controller is effective and its performance index minimizes network utilization—this factor is particularly significant when applied to wireless communication systems. © The Author(s) 2024.

This article presents a method for calculating all the proportional-integral/proportional-derivative controllers with a low-pass filter of a given order, which satisfy gain-phase margins and sensitivity (or complementary sensitivity) specifications. The method is explicit and requires solving a set of a polynomial and two linear equations. It is shown how to extend the method to design all the proportional-integral-derivative or cascaded controllers with a low-pass filter assuming that a minimum value of one of the controller components is given.

Impulse analysis in Kronecker form and impulse elimination for rectangular descriptor systems

Contrary to regular descriptor systems, there are various notions for impulse freeness and impulse controllability for rectangular linear descriptor systems. Moreover, rectangular descriptor systems generally do not have solutions for arbitrary initial conditions. This paper studies the conditions for free of impulse, and no impulsive modes admitting arbitrary initial conditions in the form of Kronecker canonical form (KCF) along with other equivalent and geometric conditions. The knowledge of KCF blocks significantly simplifies the analysis of the system solutions. Further, conditions for impulse controllability are investigated, and a proportional state feedback is designed such that the closed -loop system has no impulsive modes and admits arbitrary initial conditions. This makes the system solutions smooth without any restrictions on initial conditions. Physical and academic instances are provided to fortify the theory.

In this paper, both vibration reduction and task accuracy improvement for flexible redundant manipulators, using the resolution of redundancy, is addressed. The exciting force of flexural motion, which is induced by the motion of the manipulator, causes undesired deflection at the end-effector. The null space inherent in redundancy feature is exploited to damp out the vibration while maintaining the end-effector posture. In order to exploit all the degrees of freedom in the null space, a feedback control design based on torque optimization has been introduced using analytical method for the redundancy resolution. The simulation analysis is presented to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Copyright (C) 2020 The Authors.

Suppose you have an inexpensive plant (process) that you have many copies of, and where each requires feedback control to achieve good closed-loop performance. There is then a feedback controller design challenge for each plant. The traditional approach to such a design is to use linear or nonlinear methods for one copy of the plant and implement the designed controller on each copy of the plant. The hope is that the original design is robust so it performs well on all copies. Here, we assume that the plants can be connected on the internet of things and introduce a novel strategy to design, in a distributed fashion, controllers for each plant where the design of the controller for each plant is informed by the success of the designs of all other controllers. We show that a type of robust controller can be designed over the internet of things. Our methods hold promise in practical commercial applications.

A power supply unit with its output voltage sinusoidal is extremely useful not only for general use but also in an emergency case. In order to operate various apparatuses stably, the feedback control system of sinusoidal-wave inverter should be carefully designed. In this paper, feedback control system is designed for a sinusoidal-wave inverter without filter circuit at its output. In addition, its effectiveness is verified in both theoretical and detail simulation study.
