The aim of this paper is to present the research on the Control Toolbox for the device named programmable analog Controller. This unit is based on dynamically programmable analog Signal Processors. The configurable hardware resources require automated or semi-automated methods to support the configuration and signal processing stage. In this paper the research on the state of feedback controller design and implementation is provided. The limited hardware resources and specific type of signal processing require the performance the detailed analysis and configuration validation and verification. To compare the controller configurations, the experimental results are plotted to illustrate the controller calculation.

Smartphones include features that offers the chance to develop mobile systems in medical field and one of the most common examinations is the electrocardiogram (ECG). The objective of this study was to develop a wireless reconfigurable embedded system using a FPAA for the acquisition of ECG signals, and an application showing and storing these signals on Android smartphones. The application also performs the partial FPAA reconfiguration. The parameters tested in the acquisition circuit and the quality of ECGs registered in an individual were satisfactory.

It is presented an implementation, at the transistor level, of a field programmable analog array using the switched current technique (SI). programmable macro-cell blocks are designed using the class AB grounded gate memory cell which performances have been already improved regarding to SNR and bandwidth. The configurable blocks can be sampled up to 40MHz. The proposed programmable block necessitates only a two-phase clock.

analog circuit design is a complex, error-prone task in which the processes of gathering observations, formulating reasonable hypotheses, and manually adjusting the circuit raise significant barriers to an iterative workflow. We present Scanalog, a tool built on programmable analog hardware that enables users to rapidly explore different circuit designs using direct manipulation, and receive immediate feedback on the resulting behaviors without manual assembly, calculation, or probing. Users can interactively tune modular signal transformations on hardware with real inputs, while observing real-time changes at all points in the circuit. They can create custom unit tests and assertions to detect potential issues. We describe three interactive applications demonstrating the expressive potential of Scanalog. In an informal evaluation, users successfully conditioned analog sensors and described Scanalog as both enjoyable and easy to use.

For practical applications, the fractional order integral and differential operators require to be approximated as stable, causal, minimum-phase integer order systems, which usually leads, in both continuous and discrete domains, to high order transfer functions. Assuming that an approximation of good quality is available for the fractional operator, efficient implementations, in both cost and speed, are required. The fast development of the microelectronics gives us the opportunity of using cheap, accurate, programmable and fast devices for implementing reconfigurable analog and digital circuits. Among these devices, field programmable Gate arrays (FPGAs), Switched Capacitors Circuits (SCCs), and field programmable analog arrays (FPAAs) are used in this paper for the implementation of a fractional order integrator, previously approximated by the recursive Oustaloup's method. The fundamentals of the devices, as well as the design procedures are given, and the implementations are compared considering their simulated frequency responses, the design efforts, and other important issues.

Implementations of Modified Chaotic Neural Models with analog Reconfigurable Hardware

This paper focuses on implementations of two modified Aihara's chaotic neuron models and a simple chaotic neural network constructed with two chaotic neurons in a programmable and reconfigurable manner with an analog programmable device, FPAA (field programmable analog array). After testing the chaotic behaviors of two chaotic neuron models and a simple chaotic neural network through numerical analyses that consist of time domain responses, phase portrait illustrations and bifurcation diagrams, the experimental setup is constructed with a FPAA device. The parametric adjustments of chaotic neural structures are possible with the proposed flexible design methodology and different chaotic neuron models are constructed on the same reconfigurable device without any hardware changes. Experimental results verify the dynamic behaviors of these chaotic neural structures and demonstrate the efficiency of programmable implementations.

field programmable analog arrays (FPAA) offer the electronic equipment designers new possibilities in quick, interactive and flexible design process, simple verifying, prototyping and modifying of many circuit solutions. The detailed research results of the selected parameters of the AN221E04 device delivered by Anadigm ® are presented. Some features not mentioned in the data sheets were noted and analyzed, concerning e.g. the device input and output filters. Based on the examined AN221E04 device the example application of the automatic gain control (AGC) circuit was built. The advantages of this design, its obtainable parameters and the problems involved by application of FPAA are presented in the paper.

Investigation of chained analog signal processors in programmable analog Computer

This elaboration presents a new device based on dynamically programmable analog Signal Processors (dpASP) developed for hard real-time control applications. The developed programmable analog Computer/Controller (PAC) is an open hardware for a wide range of signal processing tasks. In this report the analog signal routing and filter based signal processing realized by the dpASP is presented. This research was focused on the signals form as they are processed and transferred between analog processors. The investigation is exampled by the low-pass filter(s) embedded into every analog processor. For complex signal processing tasks a few dpASP must be routed together. The dpASP chain is created for signal diagnosis and due to the limited resources of a single device. Final conclusions related to chaining analog processors are given.
