In the operation of the aero-gas turbine and ground gas turbine, the combustion oscillations occurred. The acoustic wave with low frequency and large amplitude coupled with the fluctuation in heat release and posed great threat to the safe operation of the whole machine. A typical ideal of active control is to destroy the phase relation between acoustic wave and heat release fluctuation, aiming at destroying the mutual driving mechanism. Different from the ordinary active control of vibration noise, the combustion flame, as the sound source in the self-excited oscillation system, is prone to be disturbed. Even though the acoustic wave is similar to sinusoidal wave, its phase, frequency and amplitudes are unstable. This requires high real-time performance for the control algorithm. Therefore, a sinusoidal approximation phase control based on the RIO/FPGA was proposed. The experimental results showed that this control algorithm had excellent high real-time performance and good calculation accuracy. In this paper, the control strategy was used to control the combustion oscillation from both sides of the coupling mechanism, namely the acoustic wave and heat release respectively. The results showed that the oscillating pressure and fluctuation in heat release attenuated after the implement of active control strategy.

FPGA-Based Implementation of Stochastic Configuration Networks for Regression Prediction

The implementation of neural network regression prediction based on digital circuits is one of the challenging problems in the field of machine learning and cognitive recognition, and it is also an effective way to relieve the pressure of the Internet in the era of intelligence. As a nonlinear network, the stochastic configuration network (SCN) is considered to be an effective method for regression prediction due to its good performance in learning and generalization. Therefore, in this paper, we adapt the SCN to regression analysis, and design and verify the field programmable gate array (FPGA) framework to implement SCN model for the first time. In addition, in order to improve the performance of the SCN model based on the FPGA, the implementation of the nonlinear activation function on the FPGA is optimized, which effectively improves the prediction accuracy while considering the utilization rate of hardware resources. Experimental results based on the simulation data set and the real data set prove that the proposed FPGA framework successfully implements the SCN regression prediction model, and the improved SCN model has higher accuracy and a more stable performance. Compared with the extreme learning machine (ELM), the prediction performance of the proposed SCN implementation model based on the FPGA for the simulation data set and the real data set is improved by 56.37% and 17.35%, respectively.

In this paper, we discuss the architecture of a global network access terminal (GNAT) as an information-convergence hub that exists within platforms that participate in such a mobile ad hoc network. The architecture allows for multiple modems to be combined with an intelligent router that brokers/manages the flow of information to and from the platform, whether in the role of data consumer/producer or as an opportunistic relay to improve the performance of an overall distributed network. As a demonstration problem, we discuss a special two-GNAT case, which is to achieve a connection to the "regular" internet, brokered by two GNATs, one located with a user (remote location) and one placed within the internet itself (this is called a bonding server). These GNATs broker an internet connection through multiple modems, each connected to a different service or connection approach. Each of these is considered a soft flow. It is possible to use military and commercial SATCOM as soft flows, but it is also possible to use laser communications links, other MANETs, and practically any other method so long as both GNATs can exploit the given pathway (soft flow). The GNATs establish a mutual control plane whose information is superimposed on user (data plane) traffic. The specialized use case of internet access with two GNATs can be generalized to multiple nodes, and this paper discusses a number of possibilities and challenges.

This paper proposes a reconfigurable avionics testing signal fusion generation technology based on the hardware architecture of RE agile transceiver and programmable device. According to testing requirements, the software radio design method and the logic function reconfiguration are used to generate various types of testing stimulation signals, so as to realize tests of the airborne avionics device. Compared with traditional signal generation platforms and technologies, the proposed approach can fidfil the fitsion ofmultiple testing signal generation. This method can significantly reduce testing costs and has widely application prospects.

In this work, FPGA implementation of a new optimal generalized receiver diversity combining scheme, termed Generalized Maximum Ratio Combining (GMRC), is implemented for transmission via 5G multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) channels. The MIMO channels comprise binary phase shift keying-spatially modulated (BPSK-SM) single-input-multiple-output (SIMO) channels that are conceived from robust selective combining of transmit diversity channels. The main disadvantage of GMRC is the fundamental nature of its analysis, which prompts us to investigate the feasibility of a FPGA implementation using a pipeline structure. Such implementation can serve as a practical test-bed for real-life wireless applications. Prior published FPGA implementation applied brute-force technique that led to the use of several square root blocks, which are slow and resource-hungry. In this work, all operations are transformed into addition and multiplication operations only, which are efficient in current FPGA technology due to the availability of such operations at the hardware level. Another important feature of the implementation is pipelining, which further leads to an improved clock cycle and subsequently higher throughput. Using the FPGA implementation on the SIMO channel, the design can be extended to the hardware of spatially modulated hyper-MIMO based 5(th) generation networks.

Due to the temperature drift characteristics and drive element nonlinear characteristics, the detection accuracy of FBG wavelength demodulation system based on tunable F-P filter is insufficient. In order to enhance the detection accuracy, the dynamic real-time correction technology for FBG wavelength was studied. Two kinds of real-time correction methods with series and parallel structure were analyzed and compared respectively. Then the real-time correction system with improved series system was proposed. The high order polynomial function between transmitting wavelength and driving voltage of tunable F-P filter was adjusted in dynamic real time by low-cost reference FBGs model. As a result the demodulation precision of the system was improved. The signal processing was designed based on FPGA as the core. All digital circuits, such as data acquisition unit, peak-searching unit, triangle wave driving unit, data calculation and transmission unit were integrated in the FPGA, so the real-time performance of demodulation system is guaranteed. The experimental results show that the wavelength demodulation range is 1526-1566 nm, scanning frequency is up to 100 Hz and maximum error is +/- 3 pm. Being compared with reported real - time correction method and direct voltage method, the FBG wavelength detection accuracy of demodulation system is improved by 70% and 83.3% respectively.

In the area of electromagnetic metrology, binary coded excitation signals become more and more important and various binary coded sequences are available. The measurement approach is to assess the impulse response function of a device under test by correlating the response signal with the excitation signal. In order to achieve a high measurement reproducibility as well as a high dynamic range, the generated binary coded signals have to provide low-noise. In this contribution, a low-noise signal generator realized with a field programmable gate array is presented. The performance investigation of different kinds of binary coded excitation signals and different correlation concepts have been practically investigated. With a chip rate of 5 Gchip/s, the generator can be utilized for ultra-wideband applications. In order to allow for a low-noise and long-term stable signal generation, a new clock generator concept is presented and results of phase noise measurements are shown. Furthermore, an algorithm to fast and precisely shifting the time lag between two binary coded signals for correlating excitation and response signals with a hardware correlator is presented. Finally, the realized demonstrator system is tested using two commonly used types of binary coded sequences.

The increasing demand for providing online financial transactions and personal data collection on digital systems has made it imperative to use data security algorithms for securing personal/financial data. Therefore, the reliance on data security algorithms for providing authentication service is increasing dynamically. The authentication algorithm provides services for user validation or authentication. The Message Authentication Code (MAC) based authentication of data consists of Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code (CBC-MAC) and Cipher-based Message Authentication Code (CMAC) algorithms. These MAC-based algorithms have serial architecture and low throughput. In this paper, we have presented a new authentication algorithm called Parallel Cipher-based Message Authentication Code (PCMAC). The proposed algorithm is parallel architecture and useful for high throughput application. The proposed algorithm is implemented on FPGA and compared with MAC-based authentication algorithms. The experimental results show that the throughput of PCMAC algorithm for authentication is 2.99 Gbps.

Present field programmable gate array (FPGA) manufacturers incorporate multi-millions of logic resources which enables hardware designers to design applications extending to large scales. However, handling such applications by existing FPGA Computer Aided Design (CAD) flow requires more improvement in terms of area, performance and power efficiency considerations. The current CAD flow requires the input design to be in Register Transfer Level (RTL). RTL input designs limit the design productivity only to hardware experts in performing analysis for various optimisations. Optimising RTI, designs manually are increasingly hard. High Level Synthesis (HLS) is an approach capable of increasing the design productivity of hardware applications compared to commonly used Hardware Description Languages (HDLs) and is known to be an intelligent approach for performing optimisations at a higher level of abstraction. In this paper, an approach that follows the HLS flow to cater to the mapping of FPGA applications in a power efficient manner using a communication aware partitioning strategy is proposed. From experiments, it was possible to achieve an average reduction of 8.39% routing thermal power and 3.34% total power using the proposed approach

We advance our previous research on spread spectrum spectroscopy by adding spectroscopic functionality using a custom-made optical transceiver. The new transceiver module features a 680nm communications-grade vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and matches the performance of commercial 10Gb/s optical transceivers, which allow for a sub-ns instrument response. The optical power of the VCSEL can be software-adjusted up to 2mW with similar to 40 mu A driving current resolution. This module, combined with a commercially available Gigabit optical transceiver at 850nm, allows us to derive information about the optical properties of tissue-equivalent phantoms and the concentration of various haemodynamic parameters in in vivo measurements.
