Atherosclerotic disorders, such as peripheral artery disease (PAD), have a significant negative impact on patient outcomes. Inadequate treatment and poor detection rates can result in cardiovascular complications and limb loss. There is great promise for improving the detection and treatment of PAD and other medical disorders through machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. This paper highlights the use of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to implement the fundamental ideas of AI and ML, specifically in the treatment of PAD. It emphasizes how these technologies can enhance drug selection, improve patient care, and refine disease phenotyping. This paper also describes how the integration of AI and ML with FPGA and ASIC technology can provide accurate and effective solutions to complex medical challenges, representing a significant breakthrough in medical analytics. © (2025), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). Analysis of a Real-Time FSO System Utilizing Xia and SRRC Pulses in Multi-Band Carrier-Less Amplitude and Phase Modulation

In this paper, we investigate the impact of two pulse shapes on the performance of a real-time free-space optical communication link. The two candidate pulse shapes are the square-root raised cosine and Xia pulse, respectively which are tested as the basis function for multi-band carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation. We first develop a real-time system based on a Xilinx Zynq ZCU102 system-on-chip platform utilising a high-resolution analogue-to-digital-converter. We then generate multi-band carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation formats using it and test the error vector magnitude whilst varying parameters. We emulate the fog environment utilising neutral density filters and evaluate the error performance of the link under increasingly poor visibility conditions. We show that contrary to previous reports, the SRRC pulse shape offers superior performance over the first-order Xia pulse in the FSO environment operating at data rates exceeding 1 Gb/s.

Towards hydrogen-powered electric aircraft: Physics-informed machine learning based multi-domain modeling and real-time digital twin emulation on FPGA

In response to environmental concerns related to carbon and nitrogen emissions, hydrogen-powered aircraft (HPA) are poised for significant development over the coming decades, driven by advances in power electronics technology. However, HPA systems present complex multi-domain challenges encompassing electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and chemical disciplines, necessitating efficient modeling and robust validation platforms. This paper introduces a physics-informed machine learning (PIML) approach for multi-domain HPA system modeling, enhanced by hardware accelerated parallel hardware emulation to construct a real-time digital twin. It delves into the physical analysis of various HPA subsystems, whose equations form the basis for both traditional numerical solution methods like Euler's and Runge-Kutta methods (RKM), as well as the physics-informed neural networks (PINN) components developed herein. By comparing physics-feature neural networks (PFNN) and PINN with conventional neural network strategies, this paper elucidates their advantages and limitations in practical applications. The final implementation on the Xilinx (R) UltraScale+TM VCU128 FPGA platform showcases the PIML method's high efficiency, accuracy, data independence, and adherence to established physical laws, demonstrating its potential for advancing real-time multi-domain HPA emulation.

The Data Acquisition System of WEST's New Thomson Scattering Diagnostics

WEST, the Tungsten Environment in Steady-state Tokamak at IRFM (France), is currently being equipped with two new plasma-monitoring systems based on Thomson scattering. Nearly 50 optical viewing lines will be installed to collect scattered light near the core plasma region and in the plasma pedestal. The collected light pulses are forwarded along optical fiber bundles to polychromators where they are optically filtered into five channels and converted to swift electrical pulses. A custom fast digitizer board adapted to the polychromators was designed to capture these signals. This Nectarine board provides six triggered fast channels to catch the scattered pulse shape at 1-3.2 GS/s, thanks to three Nectar chips. Six additional ADC channels provide a slower sampling rate for background monitoring. This contribution describes and discusses the performances of the real-time data acquisition and processing system (PS), especially the Nectarine board, designed specifically for WEST's new Thomson scattering diagnostics (TSDs).
