ESTIMATION OF STATES DURING REFINING IN ELECTRIC-ARC-FURNACE STEELMAKING

The commercial incentives to obtain improved control of the steelmaking process in the electric-arc furnace are presented, and the progress made in applying computer control is reviewed. The development of a mathematical model of the refining process is shown to be restricted by the complex metallurgical nature of the process and the deficiency of existing plant instrumentation. The ability of a mathematical model, evolved from theoretical considerations, to simulate, accurately, a limited class of operating practice is demonstrated. A compromise between complexity and implied certainty of the model is obtained by a reduction in the dimension of the model state vector, and by the introduction of a white-Gaussian-noise process to account for the effect of the ignored states and the hypotheses on which the model is developed. Techniques developed recently for obtaining noisecorrupted measurements of the carbon content and temperature of the process are investigated, and the statistics of the uncertainty of these measurements is determined. The implementation of the extended Kalman filter for online state estimation is considered, and the operation of the filter under varied conditions of uncertainty is discussed. A technique for controlling divergence of the filter algorithm is presented, and the results of simulations indicate that estimates of the states can be obtained to the accuracy required for the design of a refining control strategy.

Two derivative-free algorithms for nonlinear equations

In this paper, we propose two new derivative-free algorithms for nonlinear equations. The first is based on quasi-Newton method and is globally and superlinearly convergent under some mild assumptions. The second combines the ideas of the first with the filter strategy, which helps to reduce the backtracking steps in calculating the stepsizes, for evaluating candidate points. We show its convergence under the same assumptions. The resulting algorithms show some attractive features. Some encouraging preliminary computational results for both algorithms are reported.

Background: High-throughput bio-OMIC technologies are producing high-dimension data from bio-samples at an ever increasing rate, whereas the training sample number in a traditional experiment remains small due to various difficulties. This "large p, small n" paradigm in the area of biomedical "big data" may be at least partly solved by feature selection algorithms, which select only features significantly associated with phenotypes. Feature selection is an NP-hard problem. Due to the exponentially increased time requirement for finding the globally optimal solution, all the existing feature selection algorithms employ heuristic rules to find locally optimal solutions, and their solutions achieve different performances on different datasets. Results: This work describes a feature selection algorithm based on a recently published correlation measurement, Maximal Information Coefficient (MIC). The proposed algorithm, McTwo, aims to select features associated with phenotypes, independently of each other, and achieving high classification performance of the nearest neighbor algorithm. Based on the comparative study of 17 datasets, McTwo performs about as well as or better than existing algorithms, with significantly reduced numbers of selected features. The features selected by McTwo also appear to have particular biomedical relevance to the phenotypes from the literature. Conclusion: McTwo selects a feature subset with very good classification performance, as well as a small feature number. So McTwo may represent a complementary feature selection algorithm for the high-dimensional biomedical datasets.

COLOR IMAGE filterING METHODS FOR VARIABLE SPRAY SYSTEMS

The color images of the actual field were collected and processed in the variable spray system based on machine vision. The variable spray decision was made according to the identified results. The variable spraying was realized by the sprayer for the variable spray decision. However, there were many noises in the field images because of the complexity of the field image acquisition condition. The identification result could be affected by the noises. By analyzing the noise distribution of the color images that were acquisitioned in the actual field, it could be found that there were more noises in the images which were collected in sunny day and with shadows. Meanwhile, there were fewer noises in the images which were collected in cloudy and with the simple soil background. There was mainly random impulse noise in the actual field images. According to the noises characteristics in the color images, four color image filtering algorithms were tested. The test results showed that the filter based on RUB scalar had poor effect because some new colors appeared, and it was the slowest;the rest filters nearly had no difference, the filter based on RGB vector was the fastest.

filtering algorithm of line structured light for long-distance obstacle detection

Since unmanned ground vehicles often encounter concave and convex obstacles in wild ground, a filtering algorithm using line structured light to detect these long distance obstacles is proposed. For the line structured light image, a ranked-order based adaptively extremum median （RAEM） filter algorithm on salt and pepper noise is presented. In the algorithm, firstly effective points and noise points in a filtering window are differentiated; then the gray values of noise points are replaced by the medium of gray values of the effective pixels, with the efficient points＇ gray values unchanged; in the end this algorithm is proved to be efficient by experiments. Experimental resuits demonstrate that the image blur, resulting into proposed algorithm can remove noise points effectively and minimize the protecting the edge information as much as possible.

A novel unsupervised adaptive density-based clustering filter for remaining useful life prediction of bearings

Constructing the health indicator (HI) and predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) are essential steps in bearing health management. Some prediction methods depend on prior information about HIs, especially when these indicators are generated by deep learning models. However, acquiring such prior information can be challenging in practical applications. This paper introduces a novel unsupervised adaptive density-based clustering filter (UADCF) for RUL prediction of bearings, which operates without the need for prior knowledge. Firstly, a post-hoc interpretation HI model (PIHIM) is proposed to characterize the deep learning constructed HIs from the perspective of what the deep learning has done. Then, leveraging the classical density-based clustering algorithm, we introduce the UADCF for unsupervised estimation of model parameters, which can dynamically adjust density parameters based on the current conditions. Finally, we develop a prediction framework combining PIHIM and UADCF, enabling unsupervised RUL prediction of bearings. The experimental studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

FGCAN: filter-based Gated Contextual Attention Network for event detection

Contextual information is widely used in natural language processing and is important for event detection. How to make full use of contextual information is a challenging problem. Traditional event detection methods mainly use sentence-level information to identify event triggers and classify them into specific types. Event trigger is defined as the word or phrase that most clearly expresses an event occurrence. However, the information used for detecting events is usually spread across multiple sentences, and sentence-level information is often insufficient to resolve ambiguities for some types of events. In this paper, we propose a novel filter-based Gated Contextual Attention Network model called FGCAN, which is augmented with hierarchical contextualized representations to utilize both sentence-level and document-level information. In document level, we construct a gated contextual attention layer to extract document-level information by considering the relatedness between the current and other sentences and dynamically incorporate it into words. In this way, we can get cross-sentence clues without designing complex inference rules. In sentence level, we feed sentences into the classifier to get global information of them, and devise a rule-based filter algorithm to rectify the prediction of each word based on the probability ranking of the sentence labels, which is highly interpretable. These two mechanisms focusing on different scopes of contextual information can complement each other. The experimental results on the widely used ACE 2005 and KBP 2015 datasets show that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and the two components are effective in using contextual information. Adaptive identification methods of nonlinear random electrical signal

The nonlinearity of the electric vehicle DC charging equipment and the complexity of the charging environment lead to the complex and changeable DC charging signal of the electric vehicle. It is urgent to study the distortion signal recognition method suitable for the electric vehicle DC charging. Focusing on the characteristics of fundamental and ripple in DC charging signal, the Kalman filter algorithm is used to establish the matrix model, and the state variable method is introduced into the filter algorithm to track the parameter state, and the amplitude and phase of the fundamental waves and each secondary ripple are identified;In view of the time-varying characteristics of the unsteady and abrupt signal in the DC charging signal, the stratification and threshold parameters of the wavelet transform are corrected, and a multi-resolution method is established to identify and separate the unsteady and abrupt signals. Identification method of DC charging distortion signal of electric vehicle based on Kalman/modified wavelet transform is used to decompose and identify the signal characteristics of the whole charging process. Experiment results demonstrate that the algorithm can accurately identify ripple, sudden change and unsteady wave during charging. It has higher signal to noise ratio and lower mean root mean square error.

Median value filter is used to eliminate or reduce the noise caused by the outside environment. The edge information of road image is enhanced by Sobel operator. And then based on the Otsu method, an effective algorithm is proposed to binary-code the lane image in order to segment and identify road edge easily. Finally, Hough transformation is used to extract the feature of lane and detect the lane edge. Thus road edge is detected and Area Of Interest (AOI) is established. Based on the position correlation in the video images, the Kalman filter is introduced to predict the position of AOI to reduce the searching area. This algorithm integrates the Kalman filter and precognition of road position, and improves the rapidity and accuracy of road detection.

A Block-Scale FFT filter Based on Spatial Autocorrelation Features of Speckle Noise in SAR Image

In order to reduce the impact of noise on the accuracy of inversion products based on SAR images, many filtering algorithms have been developed for noise reduction of SAR images. This paper proposes a filtering method based on the spatial autocorrelation feature of the block fast Fourier transform (BFFT). The method statistically analyses the autocorrelation length of speckle noise on Sentinel-1B images for different features and then constructs a relationship between autocorrelation length and noise period. After that, the size of the optimal FFT filtering window radius was determined based on the relationship between the noise period and the components in the image frequency domain. Finally, we filtered the SAR image within the parcels. We compared BFFT with six commonly used filtering methods. The results show that: (1) The noise periods of the soybean, corn, paddy, and water objects on the SAR image have little difference, with noise periods of 3.36, 3.17, 3.13, and 3.14 pixels on the VV polarization and 3.49, 3.17, 2.94, and 2.42 pixels on the VH polarization;(2) after the BFFT filtering in the land parcel area, the mean value of the backscattering coefficient (BC) kept constant, whilst at the same time, the standard deviation (STD) was reduced to half of that before the filtering and (3) the BFFT and NLM filtering methods have a better effect on noise reduction inside the block. The BFFT filtering method retains the variation trend between different regions within the block and preserves the block boundary's clarity. This study provides a new idea for refined image processing.
