Kalman filter is an important technology to realize information fusion between Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). One of the most important variables in the Kalman filter structure is the state variable, which is the basis of maintaining system stability. However, due to the inherent singularity in polar regions, the INS/GNSS integrated navigation system will not work properly in polar regions. Different coordinate systems are often used in trans-polar navigation to solve the problems in the polar regions, therefore the Kalman filter state variable transformation is inevitable in the process of entering or leaving the polar regions, which will bring instability and even failure to the system. Here, this paper proposes a Kalman filter state transformation algorithm for INS/GNSS polar integrated navigation based on Psi-angle error model to ensure the numerical stability of the Kalman filter during its state transformation. Key to this success is to establish the transformation relationship between different filter state variables as well as their covariance matrices in different navigation coordinate systems, then the state variables and the covariance matrices are transformed simultaneously. After presenting the state variable transformation algorithm and the system description, a numerical evaluation is carried out to assess the presented algorithm with regard to stability and accuracy.

This paper proposes a multichannel frequency-domain adaptive filtering algorithm to blindly identify low-rank acoustic systems. The model filters of the multichannel acoustic impulse responses are decomposed into two sets of short sub-filters through the nearest Kronecker product (NKP). An extended multichannel frequency-domain signal model and its associated cost function are established by using these short sub-filters. The normalized multichannel frequency-domain least-mean-square (NMCFLMS) algorithm based on NKP is subsequently derived according to the Newton's iteration criterion. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm is computationally more efficient and has a better convergence behavior for blindly identifying multichannel acoustic systems than the conventional NMCFLMS adaptive algorithm, regardless of whether the excitation is a white sequence or a speech signal.

Low contrast, edge blur, and noise in infrared images are addressed by a welding image improvement technique based on guided filter and contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE). First, edge detection is used to identify the region of interest and apply gamma correction to alter the image's brightness. Second, use a guided filter to obtain the base picture. Then, use the difference between the base image and the original image to generate the detail image. Finally, apply the gaussian filter algorithm to process the noise in the base image. To obtain the desired outcome, finally apply CLAHE to improve the base image and stack it linearly with the detail image. According to experimental findings, the suggested technique can successfully increase image contrast, produce a higher visual impact for the image, and perform well in many evaluation indexes.

Photoacoustic Imaging (PAI), as a biomedical imaging technology, boasts remarkable features containing exceptional resolution and outstanding contrast. However, when lasers propagate through biological tissues, its energy rapidly attenuates with distance. Consequently, the photoacoustic (PA) signal becomes weak, resulting in worse contrast and resolution of the PA image. To address this challenge, we develop the multi-scale retinex (MSR) algorithm for enhancing PA images. Subsequently, the MSR algorithm was utilized in animal and human experiments. And the enhanced images were quantitative analyzed by information entropy, contrast and brightness. The results indicate a significant improvement in both contrast and resolution of the PA images enhanced by the MSR algorithm.

Tomography is an imaging technique for obtaining an image of the cross-sectional plane through an object. In this paper, tomographic imaging with millimeter waves has been investigated. Measurement procedures were carried out utilizing a parallel beam projection setup. The tomographic imaging was performed on 3D printed objects, made of Polylactic Acid (PLA) by using a vector network analyzer (VNA) with frequency extenders for W-and D-Band coverage. For both bands, an optimized 3D-printed focusing dielectric lens antenna was applied for the measurements. The filtered backprojection algorithm has been employed to compare the reconstructed images in the W- and D-band. This enables the analysis of artefacts, when neglecting diffraction effects.

This work proposes a simple class of random search algorithms based on a cloud of random agents that recursively seek the optimal mean-square solution. In the first kind, a sequence of random clouds directly seek the optimal solution; in the second, the cloud orbits an adaptive filter estimate in order to explore the neighborhood during adaptation. Both kinds have the same two parameters, cloud population and spread, and are easy to tune at a linear complexity in the population size for the cloud generation. They outperform standalone adaptive filters as well as the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm in the system identification setup.

The problem of joint shaping and precoding is studied in this paper. We introduce statistical dependencies among consecutive symbols to shape the constellation while minimizing the total transmit power when the signal goes through the precoding filter. We propose a stationary Markovian model for optimizing the transition probability of transmit symbols to avoid high-energy sequences when convolved with the precoding filter. A new algorithm based on arithmetic coding is proposed to generate a shaped sequence of symbols with the given Markov model transition probabilities.

Channel estimation is of great theoretical and practical significance for improving the reliability of communication systems. Based on this, this paper carries out an in-depth study on channel estimation in communication. Firstly, the channel estimation in communication system is analyzed by the least squares criterion (LS), the minimum mean square error criterion (MMSE), the linear minimum mean square error criterion (LMMSE) and the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) interpolation algorithm. Subsequently, an improved channel estimation algorithm that incorporates the noise threshold of the DFT interpolation algorithm is proposed. This method can effectively filter the noise components in the effective interval of the time-domain channel response, which greatly improves it is applicability in communication systems. Finally, comparative simulations of the five channel estimation methods show that the improved channel estimation algorithm incorporating the noise threshold of the DFT interpolation algorithm has stronger noise immunity. Compared with the DFT interpolation algorithm, the improved channel estimation algorithm incorporating DFT interpolation and noise thresholding improves the system reception performance by 1 dB, and increases the complexity by N additions and 2N multiplications, while it is overall complexity is still lower and easy to implement compared with the MMSE and LMMSE channel estimation algorithms.

Wi-Fi backscatter communication is a passive wireless technology that relies on modulating Wi-Fi signals through reflection. However, due to the limited availability of interference-free channels, interference and collisions between tags can occur, especially as the number of tags increases. Existing solutions employ static channel allocation methods, which restrict scalability and result in higher data packet loss rates. To address these challenges, we propose WiB-MAC. WiB-MAC utilizes a request-and-allocation mechanism to prevent collisions, supports dynamic tag networks, and is scalable for large-scale backscatter communication. Our protocol efficiently utilizes the exciter channel for tag channel requests and employs a Bloom filter-inspired approach to resolve conflicts when multiple tags apply for channels simultaneously. Using this approach, we ensure that only one tag uses a channel at a time, thereby avoiding collisions between tags. We further enhance network throughput by implementing a priority-based scheduling algorithm that reduces the impact of errors caused by tags. Finally, we designed our tag and tested the scenario where three tags simultaneously apply for the channel, demonstrating the feasibility of the protocol. We also compare our protocol to current backscatter communication networks as a baseline. In a network with 64 tags, WiB-MAC achieves 2.75 times the throughput of the baseline. In a network with 500 tags, the baseline’s throughput drops to 0, while WiB-MAC’s throughput only decreases by 5%.

To overcome the signal noise problem in small-current grounding systems, an improved LMS adaptive filter algorithm using a symmetric nonlinear function to adjust the step size is proposed in this paper. This algorithm makes innovative improvements to the Sigmoid function by using the absolute value and the nonlinear stretch to construct a new symmetric nonlinear function, which realizes the nonlinear mapping between the step size factor and the steady state error. The method not only solves the problem of noise accumulation and amplification through the normalized variable step factor, but also significantly improves the filtering effect and accelerates the convergence process of the algorithm. In addition, the particle swarm optimization method is combined to finely adjust the step size factor to the optimal one to further improve the denoising performance. After rigorous theoretical analysis and simulation experiments under various conditions, the results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm in suppressing noise, accelerating convergence, and improving the output signal-to-noise ratio, especially in the low signal-to-noise ratio environment and dynamic change conditions, which show remarkable stability and high efficiency.
