Paired carrier multiple access technology (PCMA) is a frequency multiplexing technology used in satellite communication, which can provide double communication capacity without changing the original multiple access mode and modulation code of the communication system, and hardly affect the system performance. The key technology of PCMA is parameter estimation of self-interfering signal. This paper studies the influence of timing synchronization on system performance and the measurement of performance index in PCMA system, and presents a timing synchronization tracking algorithm using feedback circuit to adjust loop filter coefficients. Verified by the simulation results, the method of guiding loop convergence can solve the contradiction between loop convergence time and convergence oscillation amplitude to some extent, and the multilevel variable length correlator is used instead of the long correlator to reduce the resource consumption.

This study uses PPG signals to determine arterial stiffness by analyzing blood flow characteristics to allow patients to better understand their health and take early preventive measures against cardiovascular diseases. The study uses the sine wave ratio (SIN ratio) as an indicator of arterial stiffness. A normal PPG waveform features a percussion wave and a diastolic wave, but some signals lack the diastolic wave if there is arterial stiffness, so a sine wave results. This study identifies a sine wave using the first derivative and an auxiliary line method and calculates the SIN ratio. Sine waves are classified as two types: the first whereby arterial stiffness causes rapid blood flow rebound, so there is an overlap in the reflected wave and the primary peak, and the other whereby high blood viscosity slows blood flow, which decreases the amplitude of the reflected wave. To increase the accuracy with which arterial stiffness is determined, an algorithm to filter these waveform types is proposed. The study uses data from 142 participants.

Scan-based automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) is commonly used for ‘random logic’ in ICs, but there is no equivalent for analog/mixed-signal (AMS) circuits due to their diversity of functions, stimuli, and responses. As a result, tests are written manually on the intended automatic test equipment (ATE) with (possibly defective) ‘first silicon’ devices, typically requiring months of effort and test times higher than for the digital circuitry. Proving the defect coverage of these tests in simulation is typically impractical, and <80% when it can be simulated. This paper describes a structural, scan-based design-for-test (DfT) and ATPG technique for ‘random analog’ that has minimal area and performance impact. The tests can be applied by digital ATE and IEEE 1687 (IJTAG) networks. Results show that automatically generated tests for a 4 th -order filter, bandgap + voltage regulator, 8-bit DAC, and industrial 11-bit SAR ADC achieve comparable or higher coverage of IEEE P2427-specified shorts and opens, relative to specification tests, in <1 ms. Defect coverage can be simulated in <1 hour, fast enough to verify before tape-out.

In the domain of low-light image enhancement, a critical challenge lies in simultaneously enhancing details and suppressing noise, while effectively improving brightness and contrast. Aiming at the factors that affect the low-light image enhancement effect, an improved adaptive enhancement algorithm for low-light images is proposed. Firstly, a double plateaus histogram equalization algorithm with adaptive selection of upper and lower thresholds is used to adaptively enhance image details and limit the generation of noise; Then the equalized image is used as the input image and the guide image, and guided filtering is performed on it to achieve the purpose of enhancing edge details and suppressing noise. Experimental results show that this algorithm significantly improves the brightness and contrast of the original image, and increases the image's information entropy by 47.3%. Compared with the adaptive double plateaus histogram equalization algorithm, the improved adaptive enhancement algorithm for low-light images increases the peak signal-to-noise ratio value and the structural similarity value of the image by 3.9% and 16.7 % respectively, indicating that the algorithm has certain practical application value.

Prenatal Hydronephrosis (PNH) is caused in fetal infants identified by obstruction in the urine production, it leads to the enlargement of the kidney in fetal infants. Hydronephrosis is a common inherited defect that causes dilatation of the renal pelvis and calyces in newborns. The hydronephrosis disease grading is developed by the society for fetal urology (SFU) to get the accurate diagnosis for the decision making. This method involves the diverse population of ultrasound images of patients. Preprocessing methods in the images are used to enhance the visual quality of the image and reduce noise in the ultrasound images. This research study involves the filtering algorithms to segment the ultrasound images and it includes the convolutional neural network for classification. The severity of the hydronephrosis is measured by the extent of renal pelvis and calyceal dilation. The outcome of the study is to predict the prenatal hydronephrosis in the early stage by using the network model, the segmentation of the image shows the predictive capability of the model in distinguishing mild, moderate, and severe cases of hydronephrosis.

This study presents the implementation of two distinct controller designs, optimized with particle swarm optimization (PSO), for the conventional automatic voltage regulator system (AVR). These designs are proportional integral derivative (PID) controller without filter, which is known as ideal in the literature, and PID-F controller with filter. This study aims to identify the optimal parameters of controllers by employing the PSO algorithm. While a variety of objective functions are considered in the study, a current objective function, ZLG+ITAE, which represents a combination of Zwe-Lee Gaing (ZLG) and the integral-time absolute error (ITAE) objectives, is also employed in the tests. Thus, five different controllers are developed for the objective functions used. The study is initially modeled in a simulation environment with known standard AVR system parametric data. A comparison of the obtained performance data reveals that the GLZ+ITAE objective function yields more successful results. The system is evaluated both transiently and in steady state, according to specific criteria. The results demonstrate that more optimal dynamic response can be achieved. Furthermore, the comprehensive results illustrate that the four-parameter PID-F controller structure optimized via PSO can yield improved outcomes compared to those of the ideal PID.

Face being an active medium of communication is a significant part of our social media life; however, faces are vulnerable to manipulations. Among various manipulations, face morphing is a well-known tampering technique that aims to generate images containing information from more than one identity. Morphed images are heavily used for various malicious purposes including sarcasm, money laundering, and pornography. For many of the above harmful purposes, these manipulated images are uploaded on social media platforms where they can further go through tampering using social-media filters. Interestingly, the existing morph attack detection works have not addressed social media’s impact on deceiving face morph detectors. In this research, for the first time, we have generated authentic (or real) and face-morphed images impacted by one of the premium features of social media platforms known as filtering. We have used 13 Instagram filters and performed an extensive study on the proposed social-media morphed dataset. It is demonstrated that these filters can radically reduce the morph detection performances of several popular deep-learning classifiers. Therefore, to effectively address the concerns of face morphing and social media filtering, we propose a robust ViT-CNN architecture to advance the morph image detection performance.

Sound Symbolism is a well studied psychological phenomena of the relation between sound and meaning in natural language. Though the phenomena has been studied by psychologists and linguists, the phenomena has not been put to use natural language processing or modeled by machine learning. In this work we select words for round and sharp objects from various natural languages. We attempted to see if a machine learning algorithm could perform better than Chance in distinguishing words for round and sharp objects in natural languages. We performed a psychophysics experiment to see if human subjects will associate words for sharp objects with a round object and round object with sharp figure. We show that human subjects are more likely than chance to associate words for sharp objects with sharp figure and vice versa. We propose that the algorithms can be improved by using training sets consisting of words whose sound symbolic properties are labelled by psychophysics experiments.

This paper is concerned with the problem of finite-time fault detection (FD) for T-S fuzzy systems under the encoding-decoding mechanism (EDM). In order to relieve the communication burden and enhance the transmission reliability, the EDM is introduced in the sensor-to-filter channel. The sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the finite-time boundedness (FTB) with prescribed H ∞ performance of the filtering error system (FES). Moreover, the parameters of the FD filter are determined by means of the linear matrix inequality method. Finally, the feasibility of the developed FD filtering algorithm is illustrated by a numerical simulation with comparative experiments.

In order to address the issues of poor signal stability and low detection accuracy caused by noise interference in the terahertz spectral signals of vacuum interrupters, this study proposes a multidimensional fusion optimization method for noise reduction. Firstly, the PIMAF algorithm is employed during the signal sampling phase to eliminate potential sampling biases. Subsequently, the IWT algorithm is applied for comprehensive denoising of the signals. Finally, the RTS filtering algorithm is utilized to optimize the local peak intervals within the signal, significantly reducing noise and further enhancing signal quality-particularly in regions corresponding to terahertz pulse peaks. Additionally, experimental comparisons demonstrate that, compared with traditional wavelet thresholding noise reduction algorithms, the proposed method exhibits superior performance regarding noise reduction metrics and effectively restores characteristics of terahertz spectral signals.
