In order to improve the convergence speed of the existing LMS algorithms, a new LMS algorithm with variable step size based on the Swish function is proposed, and the effects of the parameters in the new algorithm on the performance are analyzed, and the convergence speeds of the new algorithm are compared with those of the fixed-step-length LMS algorithm, the SVSLMS algorithm, the LMS algorithm based on the inverse hyperbolic tangent function, and the LMS algorithm based on the Sa function in different signal-to-noise environments. The results show that the new algorithm requires the least number of iterations to reach convergence and has the fastest convergence speed. Finally, the real vehicle noise is analyzed for active control, and the range of error values is analyzed to obtain the noise reduction of 80%, 90%, 92.5% and 95% for the fixed-step LMS algorithm, the SVSLMS algorithm, the LMS algorithm based on the inverse hyperbolic tangent function, and the LMS algorithm based on the Sa function, respectively, and the reduction of the new algorithm is 96%, which indicates that the new algorithm has the smallest convergence error and the best convergence performance.

Text line segmentation is a crucial step in document processing. Although text line segmentation techniques for handwritten documents in other languages (English, Chinese, Arabic) have developed, there is still room for improving text line segmentation in Myanmar handwritten documents. It is a challenging task to segment text lines in handwritten documents due to variations in handwriting styles, irregular spacing between lines and characters, and touching characters between lines. A method for Myanmar handwritten documents proposes to overcome these problems. The proposed system extracts bounding boxes of characters from text images by applying an anisotropic Gaussian method and connected component analysis (CCA). To extract correcting text lines by touching characters between lines, text lines are extracted by using proposed algorithm based on adaptive blob scale. To evaluate the proposed method, Myanmar handwritten documents dataset is collected from undergraduate students and high school students. According to the experimental results, the proposed technique achieves 97.5% accuracy rate with correct lines.

Nonlinear adaptive filters (NAFs) are used in applications like self-interference cancellation to identify nonlinear systems but at the expense of high computational complexity. When the system response is sparse, NAFs are further combined with proportionate-type algorithms to accelerate system identification which increases the computational complexity further. To alleviate the NAF complexity problem, a block-oriented functional link adaptive filter (BO-FLAF) algorithm, which has lower complexity and filter order than the FLAF was recently proposed. Since proportionate adaptation complexity is directly proportional to the filter order, a proportionate BO-FLAF is more attractive from a computation standpoint than the existing proportionate FLAF (PFLAF). Therefore, we develop a novel proportionate Hammerstein BO-FLAF (PHBO-FLAF) in this paper. Through theoretical complexity analysis we prove that the proposed PHBO trigonometric FLAF (PHBO-TFLAF) has 53.2% lesser multiplications and 7 times less logarithmic operations than the PTFLAF. We also show that the PHBO-TFLAF has faster convergence than the HBO-TFLAF and PTFLAF and models memoryless systems much better than the PTFLAF.

An algorithm of searching and tracking the angular location of a signal source is presented. It is designed for the usage in a two-dimensional equidistant rectangular receiving antenna array. This algorithm uses symmetric perturbations of the array phase distribution on a fixed phase value and uses estimations of the signal values at the array output after these perturbations. It is required to make four such the perturbations in a two-dimensional array or to make two such the perturbations in a one-dimensional linear array. The array has to be a symmetric one for the algorithm usage. This means, that the phase distribution over the array aperture has to be an odd symmetric relatively the array phase center. Because of the phase perturbation, the algorithm can be used in the analog arrays with the phase only control or in the digital beamforming arrays with the complex-valued weights control. To improve the algorithm accuracy, it is suggested to use a correlator or a matched filter to estimate the array output signals. The estimation can be used if the array receives a pseudo random signal. Such the signals are widely used as the informational ones in a number of modern radio systems. Mathematical details of the proposed algorithm are presented. Simulation demonstrates the performance and the efficiency of this algorithm.

The traditional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image quality assessment (IQA) indexes are mainly proposed based on the statistical characteristics of point and area targets. However, these indexes are not combined with the principle of SAR imaging focusing, so there are often failures. In order to overcome the shortcomings of traditional IQA indexes, based on SAR imaging principles, this paper analyzes the impact of defocusing caused by mismatched filter on imaging results, and proposes a non-reference SAR IQA index based on average blurred edge width (ABEW) in salient area. The effectiveness of this method has been validated by using SAR images of real scenes, and the results are highly consistent with the actual image quality. The novel algorithm provides a new idea and method for IQA of SAR.

Clover fixates nitrogen from the atmosphere to the ground, making grass-clover mixtures highly desirable to reduce external nitrogen fertilization. Herbage containing clover additionally promotes higher food intake, resulting in higher milk production. Herbage probing however remains largely unused as it requires a time-intensive manual laboratory analysis. Without this information, farmers are unable to perform localized clover sowing or take targeted fertilization decisions. Deep learning algorithms have been proposed with the goal to estimate the dry biomass composition from images of the grass directly in the fields. The energy-intensive nature of deep learning however limits deployment to practical edge devices such as smartphones. This paper proposes to fill this gap by applying filter pruning to reduce the energy requirement of existing deep learning solutions. We report that although pruned networks are accurate on controlled, high-quality images of the grass, they struggle to generalize to real-world smartphone images that are blurry or taken from challenging angles. We address this challenge by training filter-pruned models using a variance attenuation loss so they can predict the uncertainty of their predictions. When the uncertainty exceeds a threshold, we re-infer using a more accurate unpruned model. This hybrid approach allows us to reduce energy-consumption while retaining a high accuracy. We evaluate our algorithm on two datasets: the GrassClover and the Irish clover using an NVIDIA Jetson Nano edge device. We find that we reduce energy reduction with respect to state-of-the-art solutions by 50% on average with only 4% accuracy loss.

In order to solve the problem of the real-time reconstruction of the reentry trajectory with lift-to-drag controlling law during the spacecraft’s reentry flight, an adaptive UKF filtering algorithm was proposed by using external measurements and considering the actual engineering situations. The filter’s state model and observation model were given, and some adaptive processing methods were used, including the maneuver detection and model switching method, and the acceleration compensation method, which were used to deal with the real-time tracking of the maneuvering process of the return flight. The simulation results show that the proposed calculation method is feasible, and the proposed adaptive processing algorithm applying the acceleration compensation can do the robust estimation processing of the reentry trajectory. The research results have certain reference value for the real-time estimation of maneuvering reentry spacecraft.

This paper presents a matched filter which incorporates the time stretching of signals returned from moving targets. This 2D matched filter does not suffer from SNR and resolution degradation due to range migration, and can be used with agile waveforms. The use of this matched filter within the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, to resolve targets over a large range and velocity span, is demonstrated with random frequency modulated pulses and a random pulse interval.

Implementing FIR and IIR filtering functions according to different structures, considering both floating-point and fixed-point representations. The fixed-point versions will then be tested in real time, implementing an audio loop. Afterwards, several experiments were conducted with the DSP techniques, such as linear and circular buffers and fixed-point implementation. Moreover, implementing and testing an audio compression/decompression algorithm on the DSP platform has been performed.

Haze removing from single image is a challenging task in the field of computer vision. Aiming at the problems of low contrast, details loss and serious color distortion, this paper proposed an effective dehazing method. Firstly, the original image is decomposed into reflective image channel and illumination image channel by multi-scale retinex theory; Secondly, the traditional histogram equalization and guided filter are used in the reflective image channel to enhance contrast and compensate details from guided image; Then, 2-D gamma transform in the illumination image channel for light compensation; Finally, white balance on composite image to solve the problem of color distortion. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can efficiently enhance image contrast, as well as improving color visual effects and details of images.
