Doppler estimator operating with matched filter for vehicular spread spectrum radar

A Doppler estimator is designed for vehicular spread spectrum radar operating with the matched filter. Simulation results demonstrate that the estimated error of the relative speed between the leading car and the host car decreases with the relative speed. The maximum estimated error of the relative speed could be reduced to +/-0.15 km/h within 0.84667 mus processing time.

The mean weight model of the leaky delayed least mean square (LDLMS) algorithm using new simplifying assumptions, instead of the classical independence theory is presented. in this okay, by assuming algorithm convergence. It is shown that dwith the proposed model it is possible to describe accurately mean weight behaviour. In particular. the proposed model permits the study of the adaptive filter behaviour under more practical situations. The theoretical predictions are in close agreement with Monte Carlo simulations.

Adaptive Volterra filtering using M-band wavelet transform and Gram-Schmidt orthogonalisation

A new adaptive Volterra filter with fast convergence is proposed, where the M-band discrete wavelet transform and Gram-Schmidt orthogonalisation are utilised. In particular, the cascade combination of two such procedures reduces the eigenvalue spread of the Volterra input auto-correlation matrix, thus improving the convergence speed of the adaptive nonlinear filtering.

Hilbert transformed phase-splitting fractionally spaced equaliser

A phase-splitting fractionally spaced equaliser (PS-FSE) with a Hilbert filter is proposed, and the convergence and steady-state behaviours are analysed. The proposed PS-FSE employs one real-valued adaptive filter, which utilises both in-phase and quadrature error signals for weight update. The initial convergence speed of the proposed PS-FSE is approximately twice faster than the conventional PS-FSE.

High performance, reduced complexity programmable residue number system (RNS) field programmable logic (FPL) merged wavelet FIR filters are presented. The systems are based on the arithmetic benefits associated with Galois fields and support instantiating multiple wavelet filter coefficient sets. Results show the proposed filters require fewer resources than classical designs, while throughput advantage is about 65%.

Efficient implementation of perceptual postfilter for CELP coding of speech

An efficient method to implement the perceptual posterfilter for the suppression of coding noise in CELP-coded speech is proposed. The method is based on approximating the response of an all-pole filter to the response of the pole-zero form postfilter via cepstrum processing. This all-pole postfilter can then be implemented more efficiently than the pole-zero postfilter with less computation and filter memory.

Peak-to-average power reduction for OFDM by repeated clipping and frequency domain filtering

It is shown that repeated clipping and frequency domain filtering of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal can significantly reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAP;) of the transmitted signal. The technique causes no increase in out-of-band power. Significant PAPR reduction can be achieved kith only moderate levels of clipping noise.

In earlier works, the authors have dealt with the template detection problem by using two-dimensional discriminative filtering. A discriminative filter maximises, for a given template, the energy concentration in a single sample of its output. In this work, the authors frame discriminative filtering as an impulse restoration problem and propose closed-form solutions for it.
