In a multi-state system, both the system and its components are allowed to experience more than two possible states, e.g. completely working, partially working or partially failed, and completely failed. In this paper reliability evaluation and reliability optimization of k-out-of-n systems are studied for the case where the components and the system have multiple performance levels. A recursive algorithm is used for reliability evaluation of multi-state k-out-of-n systems with independent components. Then a fuzzy model is presented for minimization total cost subject to reliability constraint. In the fuzzy model a fuzzy constraint is used for reliability that may we use different weights to constraint and objective function, and as a consequence the amount of importance of each objective function and reliability constraint can consider. Finally a numerical example is given.

In this article, a capacitated location allocation problem is considered in which the demands and the locations of the customers are uncertain. The demands are assumed fuzzy, the locations follow a normal probability distribution, and the distances between the locations and the customers are taken Euclidean and squared Euclidean. The fuzzy expected cost programming, the fuzzy beta-cost minimization model, and the credibility maximization model are three types of fuzzy programming that are developed to model the problem. Moreover, two closed-form Euclidean and squared Euclidean expressions are used to evaluate the expected distance between customers and facilities. In order to solve the problem at hand, a hybrid intelligent algorithm is applied in which the simplex algorithm, fuzzy simulation, and a modified genetic algorithm are integrated. In this study, we introduce a fuzzy Time-dependent Project Scheduling Problem (FTPSP), in which activity duration times are represented in the form of fuzzy sets. The duration times are considered to be time-dependent as well. Under these circumstances, the resulting FTPSP becomes far more complex when compared with the existing project scheduling problems. The complexity stems from the fact of computing the completion time of the entire project, a core issue when dealing with project scheduling. problems. We first elaborate on the difficulties with the computing of the completion time. Subsequently, we develop a computational formula for estimating the overall completion time of FTPSP. Next, we formulate the FTPSP and propose three fuzzy programming models to address various requirements arising within this framework. The proposed models are handled through techniques that combine mechanisms of fuzzy simulation and genetic optimization. In this setting, fuzzy simulation is exploited to estimate the value of uncertain functions that do not exist in conventional certain project scheduling problems. TOPSIS (technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) is a multiple criteria method to identify solutions from a finite set of alternatives based upon simultaneous minimization of distance from an ideal point and maximization of distance from a nadir point. This paper proposes a fuzzy TOPSIS algorithm to solve bi-level multi-objective decision-making (BL-MODM) problems, and in which the objective function at each level are non-linear functions which are to be maximized. The proposed model for getting the satisfactory solution of the BL-MODM problems includes the membership functions for the upper level decision variables vector with possible tolerances, the membership function of the distance function from the positive ideal solution (PIS) and the membership function of the distance function from the negative ideal solution (NIS). In this paper, for the numerical fuzzy programming, we propose centralized quantification strategy for processing fuzzy objective function, and further give the concept of synthesizing effect functions for the overall consideration of the objective and constraint;Combing with fuzzy inequity degree and genetic algorithm, we establish numerical fuzzy programming model (denoted by BSE (?) ID-FGM for short);Finally, we analyze the characteristic and effectiveness of this method through an example. All the results indicate that our method has better structural feature, and can effectively merge the decision preferences into the solution in quantification ways.

In this study, a fuzzy linear programming (FLP) method is developed for dealing with uncertainties expressed as fuzzy sets that exist in the constraints' left-hand and right-hand sides and the objective function. A direct transforming algorithm is advanced for solving the FLP model that improves upon the existing method through provision of a quantitative expression for uncertain relationships among a large number of fuzzy sets. The proposed solution method can greatly reduce computational requirements, which is particularly meaningful for the application of FLP to large-scale practical problems with many fuzzy sets. The developed FLP method is applied to a case of long-term waste-management planning. The results indicate that reasonable solutions have been obtained. They can be used for generating decision alternatives and to help managers identify desired policies for waste management under uncertainty. Compared with the conventional interval-parameter linear programming approach, FLP can provide more information for solutions, containing not only the lower and upper bounds but also the most possible value for decision variables and objective function.
