Background: In nursing education, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills is crucial for developing competence in clinical practice. Nursing students encounter challenges in acquiring these essential skills, making self-efficacy a critical component in their professional development. Self-efficacy pertains to individual's belief in their ability to perform tasks and overcome challenges, with significant implications for clinical skills acquisition and academic success. Previous research has underscored the strong link between nursing students' self-efficacy and their clinical competence. Technology has emerged as a promising tool to enhance self-efficacy by enabling personalized learning experiences and in-depth discussions. However, there is a need for a comprehensive literature review to assess the existing body of knowledge and identify research gaps. Objective: The aim of this study is to systematically map and identify gaps in published studies on the use of technology-supported guidance models to stimulate nursing students' self-efficacy in clinical practice. Methods: This scoping review followed the framework of Arksey and O'Malley and was reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). A systematic, comprehensive literature search was conducted in ERIC, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, and Web of Science for studies published between January 2011 and April 2023. The reference lists of the included papers were manually searched to identify additional studies. Pairs of authors screened the papers, assessed eligibility, and extracted the data. The data were thematically organized. Results: A total of 8 studies were included and four thematic groups were identified: (1) technological solutions for learning support, (2) learning focus in clinical practice, (3) teaching strategies and theoretical approaches for self-efficacy, and (4) assessment Conclusions:

Gender equality is one of the sustainable development goals. In STEM areas, it is a requirement to expand and improve women's careers. To increase the participation of women in STEM it is not enough to attract more young women to these programs. It is necessary to provide orientation during the academic programs and ensure safe and rewarding environments so that women can succeed in their studies. The Faculty of Engineering of Universidad Tecnologica de Bolivar has gender gaps in most of its programs and several strategies are being implemented to overcome this situation. This paper analyzes five factors to guide and support women in engineering programs: academic success, protection of women, scholarships and financial assistance, international mobility, and leadership. We present several activities and strategies developed in the last three years in these five factors. The impacts of these strategies cannot be evaluated yet, but we expect that they can improve the well-being of women in engineering and contribute to the reduction of the gender gaps.

To advance impact assessment (IA) practice worldwide the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) has long promoted and published a series of international best practice principles, including the recently revised best practice principles for IA follow-up. IA follow-up refers to any kind of undertaking that seeks to 'understand the outcomes of projects or plans' that have been subject to IA. To support the implementation of these principles worldwide, a global guidance document has been developed (published by IAIA in 2024). The aims of this paper are to report on the approach undertaken to this guidance, applying a Delphi method, and to reflect on the utility and learnings derived from the process. To this end, the method of reflexivity was utilised as well as consideration of the broader literature. Overall, applying the Delphi approach in combination with international workshops helped calibrate international guidance that will be meaningful to a broad audience and relevant for unlocking worldwide experience. A key learning was that establishing and communicating international guidance generates tension between detailed explanations relevant to specific contexts versus generalization and overview.

Influence of guidance on Occupational Image and Traineeship's Satisfaction of Vocational Students

Initial vocational training (VT) in high school consists of short-term programs leading to employment in a skilled trade. To better align training with employment opportunities and to encourage students to stay in the programs until they graduate, most programs include traineeship. Since traineeships involve acquiring skills directly on the job, they require greater involvement of supervisors to guide the trainees. Given the importance of on-the-job guidance in achieving traineeship objectives, this study examines the potential influence of three dimensions of guidance provided by traineeship supervisors -planning, support, and training- on students' job perception (i.e., occupational image) and traineeship satisfaction. Overall, the results provide mixed results, partially supporting the mediation hypothesis suggested by the results of previous studies. Indeed, the results reveal that the quality of the training offered by the supervisor affects subsequent students' satisfaction with traineeship experience. Training has an indirect effect on satisfaction via the occupational image held by students. However, the expected indirect links between the other two dimensions of supervisor guidance -degree of planning and support perceived by the student- and the students' image of their chosen occupation could not be confirmed. The results support the importance of providing quality on-the-job training to students during their studies.

During visual data analysis, users may inadvertently focus more on certain aspects of data, affecting analysis outcome(s). Existing tools primarily rely on visual cues (e.g., highlight already visited data) to increase user awareness of such analytic behaviors. We believe this single, visual modality is a passive form of guidance that adds to users' cognitive load already engaged in analysis. We investigate how a dual modality (visual guidance and haptic feedback) can capture users' attention and more actively guide them in their pursuits. We interface an existing visual data analysis tool with a gaming mouse. This enhanced system tracks user interactions and communicates biases by vibrating the mouse (haptic) and simultaneously displaying contextual information in the tool (visual). A formative study with nine users revealed that this dual modality increased analytical awareness in some cases but some users found the haptic mouse vibrations to be distracting and disturbing, informing the design of future multimodal user interfaces.

The rapid expansion of space exploration and human spaceflight has presented new challenges and opportunities for reliable and autonomous close-proximity maneuvers. Bioinspired AI algorithms are a class of efficient algorithms that incorporate biological mechanisms to remove the shortcomings of traditional AI techniques. The Bald Eagle Search (BES) algorithm is one such novel method that has been developed based on the hunting tactics of bald eagle birds. This research work proposes to demonstrate the BES algorithm in the autonomous rendezvous and docking problem by generating a fuel-efficient path to reach the target point ensuring obstacle avoidance.

People are increasingly using their smartphones to 3D scan objects and landmarks. On one hand, users have intrinsic motivations to scanwell, i.e. keeping the object in-frame while walking around it to achieve coverage. On the other, users can lose interest when filming inanimate objects, and feel rushed and uncertain of their progress when watching their step in public, seeking to avoid attention. We set out to guide users while reducing their stress and increasing engagement, by moving away from the on-screen feedback ubiquitous in existing products and apps meant for 3D scanning. Specifically, our novel interface gives users audio/haptic guidance while they scan statue-type landmarks in public. The interface results from a conceptual design process and a pilot study. Ultimately, we tested 50 users in an ultra-high-traffic area of central London. Compared to regular on-screen feedback, users were more engaged, had unchanged stress levels, and produced better scans.

In June 2021, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a draft guidance for industry on core patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and related considerations for instrument selection and trial design in registrational cancer clinical trials, building on prior communications about the use of PROs to assess efficacy and tolerability in oncology drug development. The International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL) Standards and Best Practices Committee led an initiative to draft a commentary about the guidance, focusing on its positive aspects and areas that would benefit from additional clarification and consideration. For comprehensiveness, the authors reviewed existing public comments on the draft guidance, and the commentary underwent a thorough review process through three ISOQOL Special Interest Groups (Psychometrics, Clinical Practice, and Regulatory and Health Technology Assessment Engagement) followed by the ISOQOL Board. The goal of this commentary is to situate this new and relevant guidance document within the context of recent regulatory efforts on PROs and highlight areas in which further work may ultimately benefit the field.

The EXTREMA THruster-In-the-Loop Experiment (ETHILE) is a facility designed for testing the effectiveness and robustness of spacecraft guidance algorithms through hardware actuation. Initially designed to simulate in an accelerated framework the actuation of interplanetary transfers with low-thrust, the system is highly configurable as it can simulate different thruster behaviours with a thruster balance equipped with a compressed air nozzle. An overview of the system and its performance is given, highlighting through a practical example its possible use for research and educational purposes. Copyright (c) 2024 The Authors. Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), with its intelligence and miniaturization advantages, has gradually become a research hotspot internationally, which has the stability of operation under certain adverse conditions and can carry out a wide range of marine scientific research equipment and to be a platform of engineering projects for autonomous operation. Course tracking control is the key to realize the autonomous operation of USV marine operations. The actual navigation of the working conditions is complex and changeable, which cannot avoid the existence of wind, waves, currents and other non-linear and complex external disturbances. These complex external disturbances will lead USV to produce a drift angle, affecting the control of the trajectory. The aim of this paper is to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and stability of autonomous navigation tasks and solve the drift angle problem of USV at the same time by employing integral line-of-sight guidance algorithms and classical PID controllers in the bottom motion control.
