The usual formulation of efficient division uses Newton iteration to compute an inverse in a related domain where multiplicative inverses exist. On one hand, Newton iteration allows quotients to be calculated using an efficient multiplication method. On the other hand, working in another domain is not always desirable and can lead to a library structure where arithmetic domains are interdependent. This paper uses the concept of a whole shifted inverse and modified Newton iteration to compute quotients efficiently without leaving the original domain. The iteration is generic to domains having a suitable shift operation, such as integers or polynomials with coefficients that do not necessarily commute.

The black-box field (BBF) extraction problem is, for a given field F, to determine a secret field element hidden in a black-box which allows to add and multiply values in IF in the box and which reports only equalities of elements in the box. This problem is of cryptographic interest for two reasons. First, for F = F-p it corresponds to the generic reduction of the discrete logarithm problem to the computational Diffie-Hellman problem in a group of prime order p. Second, an efficient solution to the BBF extraction problem proves the inexistence of field-homomorphic one-way permutations whose realization is an interesting open problem in algebra-based cryptography. BBFs are also of independent interest in computational algebra. In the previous literature BBFs had only been considered for the prime field case. In this paper we consider a generalization of the extraction problem to BBFs that are extension fields. More precisely we discuss the representation problem defined as follows: For given generators g(1), ... ,g(d) algebraically generating a BBF and an additional element x, all hidden in a black-box, express x algebraically in terms of g(1), ... ,g(d). We give an efficient algorithm for this representation problem and related problems for fields with small characteristic (e.g. F = F-2n for some n). We also consider extension fields of large characteristic and show how to reduce the representation problem to the extraction problem for the underlying prime field. These result's imply the inexistence of field-homornorphic (as opposed to only group-homomorphic, like RSA) one-way permutations for fields of small characteristic.

Resurfacing highway project is one of the complex projects that are characterized by repetitive operations, difficult construction environment, and different construction tools. Such characteristics lead to uncertainties with respect to estimated duration and resurfacing cost. This paper presents a framework that is used for planning of highways resurfacing using computer simulation and optimization. The proposed framework has two features;1) planning of repairing highways, and 2) selecting work zone length that achieves minimum total cost and total duration. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the use of the proposed framework.

It is shown how to compute quotients efficiently in non-commutative univariate polynomial rings. This extends earlier work where efficient generic quotients were studied with a primary focus on commutative domains. Fast algorithms are given for left and right quotients of polynomials where the variable commutes with coefficients. These algorithms are based on the concept of the "whole shifted inverse", which is a specialized quotient where the dividend is a power of the polynomial variable. It is also shown that when the variable does not commute with coefficients, that is for skew polynomials, left and right whole shifted inverses are defined and may be used to compute right and left quotients. In this case their computation is not asymptotically fast, but once obtained, they may be used to compute multiple quotients, each with one multiplication. Examples are shown of polynomials with matrix coefficients, differential operators and difference operators. In addition, a proof-of-concept generic Maple implementations is given.

The paper presents an optimization task of transportation - production solved with genetic algorithms. For the network of processing plants (factories) and collection centers the cost-optimal transportation plan will be established. Plan is regarding to raw materials to the relevant factories. Task of transportation - production regard to the milk transport and processing will be investigated. It is assumed that the functions defining the costs of processing are polynomials of the second degree. Genetic algorithms, their properties and capabilities in solving computational problems will be described and conclusions will be presented. The program that uses genetic algorithms written in MATLAB will be used to solve an investigated issue.

The temperature of the gas adjacent to the plate T-G and local heat transfer coefficient alpha can be considered to remain nearly unchanged with time during spot and line heating. A generic algorithms (GA)-based direct identification technique for T-G and alpha is proposed. T-G and a during a spot heating test is identified by the proposed technique, and TG for this spot heating test is measured by laser induced fluorescence technique. The validity of the proposed GA-based technique is investigated by comparing the identified and measured T-G, and comparing the measured T-B and that calculated by giving the identified T-G and a as thermal boundary conditions. As results, the followings are found. 1) Distributions of T-G and alpha during a spot heating test can be directly identified by proposed GA-based technique. The identified TG is close to the one measured by a LIF system. 2) The plate back surface temperature during the spot heating test calculated from the identified TG and cc is comparable to the one measured. The results obtained demonstrate the accuracy of the identified heat input parameters and the validity of the proposed GA-based identification technique. 3) The proposed GA-based identification technique is valid for the high power heating case for which the conventional IHC-based techniques are not applicable.

There are some limitations that using generic algorithms to dispose multimodal function, so that this paper brings forward an improved hybrid genetic algorithm The block crossover, hierarchical mutation and multimodal function searching are adopted, which based on the analysis of variance ratio The improvement can not only expand the range searching the individual with high fitness and accelerate the convergence rate, but also avoid the local convergence Owing to analysis of variance ratio, optimal value and the tolerance every parameter in problem are soled at the same time, which is very practical for actual engineering Terminations based on the analysis of variance ratio can not only speed up the calculation but also avoid the slow convergence at the late stage of the traditional method The hybrid coding of decimal and floating can fit in with the needs of the continuous variables and the dispersed variables in the actual engineering better These above improved methods have passed the test of GA test functions successfully, which has better search precision, convergent speed and capacity of global search Numerical result shows that this hybrid generic algorithm is high efficiency, less genetic generation, and high accuracy for multimodal function

GEP is a powerful tool for automatically function modeling. However, the classical GEP have some appearances such as lack of learning mechanism, search blindly, lack of diversity, prone to precocity when dealing with complicate problems. In light of these limitations the Improved GEP-GA Algorithm introduces the uniform initial population strategy, the adaptive mutation, the variation of population size strategy based on stagnant generations, and optimizes the coefficient of model by GA after the work of GEP. Then it proved that the Improved GEP-GA Algorithm is more effective than other similar algorithms in modeling and forecast though some experiments. It will make the algorithm hard to get into the local trap, and improve the fitting efficiency and forecasting accuracy of mining. The result of that applied the improved GEP-GA algorithm to the relay's parameter design shows that it will save time in calculating the electromagnetic suction force and improve the computational efficiency in a large degree. It has a broad apace for development and application in relay parameters design.

In this paper a design method of GAs fuzzy supervisory PI controller of a heat exchanger is proposed. The effectiveness of the genetic algorithms (GAs) enables the fuzzy sets and rules to be optimally defined. The simulation results shoe: that the optimally designed fuzzy supervisory PI controller achieves better results than the classical PI controller.
