A graph database-based approach utilizing FAHP and directed bipartite graph for service composition

Cloud computing has recently evolved into container technology and edge computing for conveniently hosting and delivering a set of services. There is a need to compose individual services to perform a complex task. However, finding an optimal solution of composition satisfying both functional and non-functional requirements is a challenging problem. To solve this problem, we propose a method using fuzzy analytical hierarchy process and an extended Dijkstra algorithm to find a solution in a directed bipartite graph stored in a Neo4j graph database. Unlike other database-based approaches that aim to optimize a pre-defined composition task, our approach is much flexible that can perform an arbitrary task once the services information is preprocessed in a database. We conduct experiments and compare the performance of the proposed approach with a graphplan method and a relational database-based approach, and the results show that this approach leads to less query execution time and better user's satisfaction.

In this paper, we propose a novel intelligent methodology to construct a Bankruptcy Prediction Computation Model, which is aimed to execute a company's financial status analysis accurately. Based on the semantic data analysis and management, our methodology considers Semantic database System as the core of the system. It comprises three layers: an Ontology of Bankruptcy Prediction, Semantic Search Engine, and a Semantic Analysis graph database system. The Ontological layer defines the basic concepts of the financial risk management as well as the objects that serve as sources of knowledge for predicting a company's bankruptcy. The graph database layer utilises a powerful semantic data technology, which serves as a semantic data repository for our model. The article provides a detailed description of the construction of the Ontology and its informal conceptual representation. We also present a working prototype of the graph database system, constructed using the Neo4j application, and show the connection between well-known financial ratios. We argue that this methodology which utilises state of the art semantic data management mechanisms enables data processing and relevant computations in a more efficient way than approaches using the traditional relational database. These give us solid grounds to build a system that is capable of tackling the data of any complexity level.

Leveraging recommendations using a multiplex graph database

PurposeBy applying targeted graph algorithms, the method used by the authors enables effective prediction of user interactions and thus fulfils the complex requirements of modern recommender systems. This study sets a new benchmark for multidimensional recommendation strategies and offers a path towards more advanced and user-centric ***/methodology/approachTo improve multidimensional data recommendation systems, multiplex graph structures are useful to capture various types of user interactions. This paper presents a novel framework that uses a graph database to compute and manipulate multiplex graphs. The approach enables flexible dimension management and increases expressive power through a specialised algebra designed for multiplex graph *** authors compare the multiplex graph approach with traditional matrix methods, in particular random walk with restart, and show that the method not only provides deeper insights into user preferences by integrating scores from different layers of the multiplex graph, but also outperforming matrix-based approaches in most configurations. The results highlight the potential of multiplex graphs for developing sophisticated and customised recommender systems that significantly improve both performance and ***/valueThe study provides a formal specification of a multiplex graph construction based on interaction and content-based information;and the study also developed an algebra dedicated to multiplex graphs, enabling robust and precise graph manipulations necessary for effective recommendation queries. In this paper, a file recommender system is introduced which is used in PAD, an academic social network at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Considering the large number of files shared in PAD, the proposed system is aimed at helping users in finding related files. It uses content based and collaborative filtering techniques, where the former is based on automatic tagging of file names, and the later is based on the users' activities. Further, in order to improve efficiency, Neo4J graph database engine is employed at the data layer of the recommender system. The experimental evaluations, mainly based on the users' feedbacks, demonstrate that the proposed system has very good performance and it provides good quality recommendations.

Nowadays people have entered the era of big data, unstructured data becomes a vast sea of smoke. In the process of working in each line, unstructured data accounts for a high proportion, it takes a lot of human resources to analyze these unstructured data. For massive unstructured data, this article will discuss how to use Python to visualize unstructured data, then, the processed data is imported into the neo4j database through Cypher syntax, finally, the knowledge graph of object relationship, organization relationship and character relationship is generated, which is easy to observe.

The future regulation system puts forward higher requirements for the storage and management of large power data. According to the natural topological structure, dynamic change and intrinsic complex data characteristics of power grid model, the knowledge map of power grid model is stored by introducing graph database Neo4j, which promotes the evolution of dispatching automatic analysis and decision-making algorithm to knowledge guidance. The key to build knowledge map is to extract the knowledge unit of power grid model accurately. By studying the data storage mode of Neo4j, this paper proposes a general method of building knowledge map of power grid model based on Python and storing it in graph database. The feasibility of the method is verified by practical cases, and the internal relationship of model data in knowledge map is explored by using Cypher query language.

Natural Language (NL) continues to be the preferred medium of expression for requirements, especially for multi-disciplinary systems such as the Flight Control System (FCS) of an Aircraft. The importance of a precise and unambiguous understanding of requirements for the project's success is established beyond question. This aspect is further amplified in the case of a safety-critical system such as FCS. UML diagrams from use case to activity to sequence diagrams are used to understand and analyze the requirements. While these diagrams have immense value, graph databases add new benefits for analyzing and managing requirements. graph databases are gaining popularity due to their simplicity, scalability, and benefits of visualization. In this paper, we propose an NLP-based method for auto-generating a graph database for textual requirements. We explore the benefits of representing requirements as a graph database that complements the other diagrams and fills a few gaps, specifically in requirements allocation, identification of interdependencies, and change management. Though we use the Neo4j graph database management system and Cypher query language, the concepts are generic. The proposed approach for auto-generation works on requirements expressed in the EARS (Easy Approach to RequirementsSyntax) template. However, it can be extended for other templates or free-flowing text.

The workcell is considered a main building block of various industrial settings. Hence, it is examined as a primary testing environment for studying wireless communication techniques in factory automation processes. A new testbed was recently designed and developed to facilitate such studies in workcells by replicating various data flows in an emulated production environment. In this paper, an approach to storing and analyzing network performance data from a manufacturing factory workcell is introduced. A robotic testbed was constructed using two collaborative grade robot arms, machine emulators, and wireless communication devices. A graph database approach was implemented to capture network and operational event data among the components within the testbed. A schema is proposed, developed, and elaborated;a database is then populated with events from the testbed, and the resulting graph is presented. Query commands are then presented as a means to examine and analyze network performance and relationships within the components of the network. Additionally, we demonstrate how to extract correlations between receive signal power and network delay within the testbed using the graph database query language. Finally, using the inherently interconnected nature of the graph database, we discuss applying the graph database approach toward examining more complex relationships between the wireless communications network and the operational system.

Temporal microarray data of Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) infection make it possible to infer gene interaction networks and help unveil new infection mechanisms. In this work, we show that the inference and analysis of gene interaction networks can be enhanced using graph databases. Gene interaction network modules and the provenance associated to the inference process are modeled into the graph data and high-level queries can help comparing different results and studying individual modules.
