This paper presents a planar grid array antenna with a 100 Omega differential microstrip line feed on a single layer of standard soft substrate. The antenna operates in the 79 GHz frequency band for automotive radar applications. Its single row design offers a narrow beam in elevation and a wide beam in azimuth. Together with the differential microstrip line feeding, the antenna is suitable for differential multichannel MMICs in the frequency range.

This paper presents a novel planar microstrip grid array antenna on low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) with a feeding structure in laminated waveguide technique. The antenna is designed to operate in the 79 GHz frequency range for automotive radar applications. Measured results of a first antenna design show that the antenna is a good candidate for 79 GHz applications and particularly suitable for LTCC integration.

The system matrix plays an important role in the improvement of medical image reconstruction quality in iterative reconstruction. It consists of a certain sequence of projection coefficients. Projection coefficients indicate the radiological path through a tow-dimensional grid array which is constructed based on the reconstructed image. It is a common geometric problem of evaluating the radiological path through the grid array. This paper identifies the inefficient aspect of the traditionally precise evaluation of the radiological path. A new accurate and simple algorithm is presented,which considers that the projection coefficients can be shown in two-dimensional way. Experimental results based on GATE(Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission) simulating PET(Positron Emission Tomography) imaging shows that the proposed algorithm is efficient to build up a system matrix,and the image can be reconstructed by the system matrix.

To accommodate the ever-growing pin number of complex PCB designs, the staggered pin array is introduced for modern designs with higher pin density. However, the escape routing for staggered pin arrays, which is a key component of PCB routing, is significantly different from that for grid arrays. This paper presents a routing algorithm for the escape routing for staggered-pin-array PCBs. We first analyze the properties of staggered pin arrays, and propose an orthogonal-side wiring style that fully utilizes the routing resource of the staggered pin array. An LP/ILP based algorithm is presented to solve the staggered-pin-array escape routing problem. Experimental results show that our approach successfully completed the routing for all testcases efficiently and effectively.

The Interactive Graphical Ocean Database System (IGODS) is a complete software solution to support studies of ocean, coastal, and inland waters using profiling instrumentation such as a conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) instrument. If you routinely conduct surveys where you are profiling at a set of geographic locations, collecting CTD profiles, and perhaps also collecting water samples for additional analyses, then the IGODS program is an ideal way for you to manage your datasets. IGODS is an easy to use tool that includes functions to optimize the import of data, including both electronically recorded CTD data and discrete sampling results. Final IGODS data files integrate all data for a survey into a single file, for easy archiving. The program provides a wide variety of data analysis and reporting tools. Numerous entities conduct surveys of water bodies as a requirement in a permit for discharge, to monitor for impacts as well as to characterize background conditions. Coastal discharges of sewage effluent, surface effluent discharges, associated with pulp mills or mining operations, river outflows, enclosed bays, estuaries, harbors, and reservoirs, all can have programs either requiring monitoring, or may have environmental issues that require studies and data gathering to support management efforts.

Introduction: Electrodes able to perform high-resolution recordings with low interference and long term stable recording of cortical field potentials (CFP) have a wide medical applicability. The utilization of CFP was proposed as control signal for neuronal motor prostheses and epileptology. This study investigates the applicability of micromanufactured electrodes for subdural cortical recordings. Objective: To evaluate the applicability of subdural microelectrodes and study their signal quality across time. Method: A prototype of a grid array with eight platinum microelectrodes (320 mu m diameter, arranged as a 2x4 grid with a pitch of 0.95mm) was developed based on laser- structuring of silicone rubber and precious metal foils. The electrodes were connected to a percutaneous plug which was encapsulated in silicone rubber. For the experiment eight adult Wistar rats underwent implantation. The animals were submitted to right parietal craniotomy. After the durotomy the grid was placed above the cortical surface guided by stereotaxic coordinates (aimed at the visual cortical area) and transoperative electrocorticography (ECoG) to ensure optimal contact. The bone flap was reinserted and the system was fixed to the skull with acrylic cement. After the recovering period the rats were taken to systematic bioimpedance measurements and ECoG recordings and the signal was analyzed with Spike2 and Matlab7.3. Results: The rats presented normal behavior during the recording sessions. The mean amplitude values were stable over a four weeks period. The impedances increased one week after implantation, but were then stable over a four week period. Conclusion: The use of micromanufactured electrodes may constitute a promising technique for chronic electrocorticographic recordings.

A new model for computers and networks is developed and studied. The model has the two-folded form: a grid array, which gives a direct representation for different kinds of computers and networks and its theoretical counterpart, a grid automaton. grid arrays are aimed at computer/network design, description, verification, adaptation, maintenance, and reusability. grid automata are aimed at the development of a theoretical technique for computer/network studies. Different properties of grid arrays and automata are obtained, demonstrating their usefulness for computers and their applications.

Neural networks have become one of the most popular models for distributed computation, in particular, and distributed processes in general. They are used for a diversity of purposes and are especially promising for artificial intelligence. However, existence of related models for distributed processes, such as Petri nets and cellular automata, demonstrates that it would be beneficial to elaborate such model that will synthesize different approaches to modeling and simulation of distributed processes. Such model, grid automaton, is studied in this paper. In addition to unification of various models developed for simulation of concurrent processes, grid automata allow one to study by mathematical methods and to simulate such new kind of computation as grid computation.
