hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platforms are widely used in the automotive industry for testing strategies and functionalities of electronic control units (ECUs). This paper describes the HIL testbed developed in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) laboratories for the functional analysis of multiple control units in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). A case study including the ECUs dedicated to internal combustion engines (ICEs), transmissions, brakes, and electric motors (EMs) is being analyzed. Modeling construction procedures for the hardware (HW) and software components is described and their integration is characterized. HIL real-time simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed architecture for verifying the functionalities shared among the control units. © 2019 SAE International. All rights reserved.

In order to ensure the performance and safety of photovoltaic grid connected inverter, based on hardware in the loop simulation technology, the design and implementation of photovoltaic grid connected inverter simulation and test platform are discussed. The system structure, principle and main functions of the platform are introduced. The simulation and test platform is composed of simulation and monitoring computer, simulation and measurement interface device, programmable power supply and test instruments. In the platform, the programmable DC power supply, the programmable AC power supply and RLC load is used to simulate the characteristics of solar panels, power grid and load respectively. The test process is controlled by LabWindows/CVI software interface, and the test data collection is completed through power quality analyser, power analyser, oscilloscope and simulation and measurement interface device. The simulation test software completes the data analysis and realizes the full-automatic detection of the grid connected inverter. The established hardware in the loop simulation test platform of photovoltaic grid connected inverter has the ability to conduct comprehensive test and detection of photovoltaic grid connected system, which can be used to verify and evaluate the photovoltaic inverter before it is connected to the power grid. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Deep space navigation based on angle and velocity measurement is a novel autonomous navigation method proposed in recent years. On the background of the first Chinese Mars exploration mission to be launched in 2020, a ground autonomous navigation simulation system is proposed and established using the deep space orbital dynamics and various navigation sources. The system is composed of deep space dynamic module, image and velocity simulation module and navigation filtering module. The performance of deep space angular and velocity measurement navigation method is evaluated by comparing and analyzing the experimental data under different cases. The results show that the integrated navigation system based on the integration of angle measurement and velocity measurement information can effectively achieve real-time and high-precision autonomous navigation, and its accuracy can be improved compared with the ground-based radio navigation method. The results show also show that and the longer the probe travels, the more advantage of the integrated autonomous navigation method can achieve.

This paper studies hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) based PV grid-connected inverter system. The MATLAB / Simulink is used to build the model of photovoltaic grid-connected inverter system. The adapter boards are connected to the inverter's physical control board to build a hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform and perform corresponding functional test, that is an MPPT static performance test of PV source. Through the test, the performance is analyzed and the result deviation in the hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform is less than 0.1%. What's more, the experiment is not restricted by the power performance and weak light in the actual environment. Thus the development process can be greatly improved. © 2020 IEEE.

hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation is an advanced technique for development and testing of complex real-time embedded systems. This technique has greatly developed in the last decades and has been more and more used in the automotive industry for algorithm and software development, hardware validation, safety validation, and fault investigation activities. Plant simulation model executes in HiL simulator to provide a virtual vehicle that interacts in an open-loop or closed-loop fashion with the embedded system that is under test. Compared to in-vehicle testing, HiL simulation provides benefits of low cost, high availability, high flexibility, repeatability, and test automation capability. HiL simulation reduces the risk caused by control failure, which is especially important for self-driving control system development and testing. The HiL simulation system is more application specific. hardware configuration and plant simulation model should be developed in a way to fulfill the application requirements. In this paper, several HiL systems have been presented for powertrain Electronic Control Units (ECU) validation and verification (v&v), autonomous driving algorithm development, propulsion and battery ECU tests for hybrid and electric vehicles. Application requirements, HiL simulator configuration, plant simulation implementation, HiL system capabilities, and key behavior test examples have been discussed in the paper. © 2020 General Motors.

The performance of attitude measurement system has a direct impact on the guidance and control accurate of high-spin projectile. Attitude hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) experiment is an important means to verify, evaluate and optimize the performance of attitude measurement system of high spinning projectile. The traditional attitude HILS system transmits the command contained angular rate to the three-axis turntable through a simulation computer with low timing accuracy directly. There is a problem that the transmission rate of command does not match the sampling frequency of the inertial measurement component, and this mismatch will seriously affect the simulation effect of the attitude in a high-spin environment. In order to solve the problem, the instruction transmission method is improved. Firstly, a high-speed data transmission board based on the STM32 ARM core is designed to improve the transmission rate of command. Secondly, the finite impulse response filter (FIR) is used to suppress the noise of the data send from the turntable for improving the accuracy of data and reducing the simulation error of attitude. The results show that the attitude error is less than 0.1°. The HILS system is simple to implement, low cost, high simulation accuracy, and has practical application value. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

The reliable operation of photovoltaic power generation systems is related to the security and stability of the power grid and is the focus of research today. During the operation of photovoltaic inverters, due to the constraints of the on-site environmental conditions, the empirical test of the reliability of photovoltaic inverters is mainly based on long-term operating data for analysis, which has problems such as long test cycle, high cost, and weak controllability. This paper proposes a new photovoltaic system simulation empirical test method, it uses a hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform to simulate the photovoltaic system, completes the analysis and calculation of the thermal characteristics and failure probability of key components of the inverter, compared with the case without considering the thermal characteristics of the bus capacitor, its reliability is reduced by 18.4%, which shows that the empirical test of photovoltaic systems can be completed through the hardware-in-the-loop simulation method. © 2020 IEEE.

The perception to improvise the human conduct to attain maximum sustainability and quality has been a priority for the past 25 years, the essential energy need which is creating a blockade against our ambitions should be taken into account without distorting our environment. Thus, renewable energy generation techniques might be the right option for us, among various holistic approaches the photovoltaic (PV) generation is chosen for this purpose. The photovoltaic (PV) panels of 5kW rating is taken into account, so as to achieve maximum stability the switching has been improved which can nullify the harmonics during its normal operation. To enhance the maximum power tracking process a certain code is employed as compared with other models. As a result, the proposed system is simulated under real time conditions via Typhoon HIL Software, and it is further analyzed on the basis of performance and efficacy which comes out to be more stabilized and reliable. © 2022 IEEE.
