The harmonic disturbance in the background grid is a problem that must be considered in the design of a gridconnected ***,the full feed-forward method cannot completely suppress the harmonic disturbance in theory and is sensitive to *** tackle these problems,a fractional full feed-forward method of grid voltage is proposed in this ***,the mathematical model of the full feed-forward method is deduced,and the differences with the theoretical solution,which can suppress all harmonics,are ***,the parameter equation,the harmonic suppression performance,stability analysis and the implementation process of this method are *** with the full feed-forward method,the proposed method not only further improves the harmonic suppression performance,but also reduces the order of the mathematical model of the differential term in the feed-forward *** addition,the proposed method can be used to flexibly design feed-forward coefficients by selecting the order of suppressed ***,the proposed method is validated by a hardware-in-the-loop experiment on a MT real-time control platform NI PXIE-1071.

Of particular concern to designers of HTS machines are potential heating effects in the superconducting windings due to AC losses caused by load fluctuations encountered in real-life operating conditions. A 5 MW HTS synchronous prototype ship propulsion motor has been tested extensively under steady-state and dynamic load conditions in the Advanced Test Facility of the Center for Advanced Power Systems at Florida State University. This paper presents results from two tests of rotor heating effects, one employing single frequency torque oscillations and the other more realistic load modeling of sea-states by means of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) real-time simulations. Temperature results from 4 different torque oscillation tests and 12 different sea-state tests provide rotor-heating information, obtained from multiple temperature sensor data within the HTS rotor, and are compared with data obtained from steady-state runs.

The dawn of 5G requires significantly higher data rates, not only for the Radio Access Technology (RAT), but also for the transport network. Line-of-Sight MIMO links based on mmWave radios promise reaching ultra-high throughput with reasonably small antennas. mmWave links with optimally arranged antennas are one viable concept for spatial multiplexing, capable of potentially achieving Gb/s data rates. In the context of mmWave MIMO system design, providing hardware implementation solutions is essential for bridging the gap from theoretical concepts to real-time operational prototypes. In this paper, we focus on the investigation of the BER performance of an orthogonal spatial-multiplexing LoS MIMO link and its robustness to x-and z-axis antenna displacements. hardware-in-the-loop measurements are performed with a custom demonstrator built for 60GHz LoS MIMO system verification achieving system data rates of 2.5Gb/s at uncoded BER of 1e-4. The results largely confirm the theoretical assumptions and the feasibility of LoS MIMO for short to medium range wireless backhaul applications.

Design and validation of a hardware-in-the-loop test bench for evaluating the performance of an active mass damper

The purpose of this study is to propose an innovative solution for evaluating the performance of a full-scale Active Mass Damper (AMD). The AMD adopted is a custom hydraulic actuator, developed for active control of existing buildings against earthquakes. For vibration control, a sky-hook algorithm was implemented. Its characteristics ensure good robustness, which is fundamental in structural engineering since buildings are subjected to significant variation in dynamic properties in presence of damage or ambient conditions. A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test bench was specifically designed to simulate the actual working condition of the anti-seismic system. The HIL setup consists of a shaking table moved by a hydraulic actuator in accordance with the roof's displacement, evaluated using a structural numerical model of the building to which the AMD is fixed. The presence of two distinct active systems (HIL and AMD) could generate control issues;therefore, a Triple Variable Control logic was introduced to reduce the interaction delay. The effectiveness of the proposed AMD is validated comparing the roof's displacement in an uncontrolled structure with that in a controlled one. Also, the robustness of the control algorithm was verified using a non-linear structural model and applying seismic excitation at different intensities.

Controller hardware-in-the-loop Testing of an IEC 61850 GOOSE Based Control for Seamless Transition of a Microgrid Between Island and Grid-Connected Modes

This article demonstrates development of a controller hardware-in-the-loop test system for validating microgrid control schemes. The investigation also proposes and analyzes the performance of an IEC 61850 generic object-oriented substation event protocol (GOOSE) based control strategy for managing the transition of a microgrid test model from grid-connected mode to islanded mode. The test model contains a single inverter-interfaced distributed energy resource (DER). The inverter controls allow the DER to regulate its output during grid-connected operation and regulate the microgrid voltage and frequency when separated from the Area electric power system. The test model, inverter, and microgrid controllers are simulated using RTDS Technologies' real-time digital simulator. A digital protection relay is used in the hardware loop to provide I/O to the simulated controllers via GOOSE messaging. The results of the investigation illustrate the benefits of IEC 61850 standard for integration of controller hardware in a microgrid control scheme as well as the suitability of GOOSE messaging for seamless transitioning between microgrid operating modes.

Integration of SCADA Services and Power-hardware-in-the-loop Technique in Cross-Infrastructure Holistic Tests of Cyber-Physical Energy Systems

Cyber-physical energy system (CPES)-complex juxtaposition of multiple energy domains and communication and automation technologies-requires a sophisticated testing framework to achieve holistic assessment and validation, especially at large scale. In this article, the real supervision, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) system of CPES is integrated with the advanced techniques-real-time simulation (RTS) and power-hardware-inthe-loop (PHIL), in a cross-infrastructure manner to create a realistic validation environment for CPES. On the one hand, the method can be applied to extend the capacity of the infrastructures as well as creating a common resource and expertise pool. On the other hand, this approach combines the realistic data and advanced SCADA services with the flexibility of the RTS platform, which provides the possibility to emulate extreme and faulty scenarios with virtual equipment and topology. The proposed approach is demonstrated via a case study of analyzing the impact of communication on advanced voltage and frequency restoration in an isolated microgrid. The case study is implemented on two remote platforms PREDISPRISMES (70 km apart). The validation framework comprises the RTS and PHIL platform coupled with the OPC UA SCADA system in PRISMES, the control algorithm and the communication network simulator located in PREDIS platform.

Rendezvous in cislunar halo orbits: hardware-in-the-loop simulation with coupled orbit and attitude dynamics

Space missions to Near Rectilinear Halo Orbits (NRHOs) in the Earth-Moon system are upcoming. A rendezvous technique in cislunar space is proposed in this investigation, one that leverages coupled orbit and attitude dynamics in the Circular Restricted Three-body Problem (CR3BP). An autonomous Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) technique is demonstrated in which a chaser spacecraft approaches a target spacecraft in a sample southern 9:2 synodic-resonant L2 NRHO, one that currently serves as the baseline for NASA's Gateway. A two-layer guidance and control approach is contemplated. First, a nonlinear optimal controller identifies an appropriate baseline rendezvous path for guidance, both in position and orientation. As the spacecraft progresses along the pre-computed baseline path, navigation is performed through optical sensors that measure the relative pose of the chaser relative to the target. A Kalman filter processes these observations and offers state estimates. A linear controller compensates for any deviations identified from the predetermined rendezvous path. The efficacy of the GNC technique is tested by considering a complex scenario in which the rendezvous operation is conducted with an uncontrolled tumbling target. hardware-in-the-loop laboratory experiments are conducted as a proof-of-concept to validate the guidance algorithm, with observations supplemented by optical navigation techniques.

Dynamic Load Emulation in hardware-in-the-loop Simulation of Robot Manipulators

A robotic hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform was designed to aid in the synthesis and analysis of robot manipulators and their controllers. The platform uses a load emulation mechanism to apply nonlinear and coupled dynamic loads to the joint hardware. Some experimental results from a 5-DOF industrial manipulator are provided, demonstrating how the platform can simulate the performance of a manipulator under normal and aggressive operating conditions.

hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) real-time simulation is an effective method for fast verification of high-power back-to-back converter. In this paper, a HIL real-time simulation bench is built with FPGA as the core. Using Verilog hardware description language (HDL), the HIL real-time model of back-to-back converter and doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is established in FPGA. Compared with the 5.5kW full-physical bench, the results show that the maximum error between the HIL bench and full-physical bench is less than 5% and the time delay of the HIL real-time model is 0.36 mu s. Therefore, the HIL bench established in this paper is real-time and accurate, which is of great significance to the design and fast verification of high-power grid-connected back-to-back converter for DFIG system.

Micro-mobile heat pipe-cooled nuclear power plants are promising candidates for distributed energy resource power genera-tors and can be flexibly deployed in remote places to meet increasing electric power ***,previous steady-state simulations and experiments have deviated significantly from actual micronuclear system ***,a transient analysis is required for performance optimization and safety *** this study,a hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)approach was used to investigate the dynamic behavior of scaled-down heat pipe-cooled *** real-time features of the HIL architecture were interpreted and validated,and an optimal time step of 500 ms was selected for the thermal *** power transient was modeled using point kinetic equations,and a scaled-down thermal prototype was set up to avoid mod-eling unpredictable heat transfer behaviors and feeding temperature samples into the main program running on a desktop PC.A series of dynamic test results showed significant power and temperature oscillations during the transient process,owing to the inconsistency of the rapid nuclear reaction rate and large thermal *** proposed HIL approach is stable and effective for further studying of the dynamic characteristics and control optimization of solid-state small nuclear-powered systems at an early prototyping stage.
