This paper highlights the control technique for a grid-tied converter so as to have unity power factor operation while it transfers generated power from some renewable resource to the power grid. A hardware-in-the-loop test platform has been developed meant for grid-tied converter testing wherein, the converter system has been emulated on Typhoon HIL402 simulator and the control system has been realized in TMS320F28335 digital signal controller card. Various performance tests have been carried out and the unity power factor operation of the grid-tied converter has been demonstrated.

The work proposes a design of a controller platform for advanced digital motor control used in hardware-in-The-loop (HIL) simulation environments. The platform is a synergistic combination of two parallel processing computing cores, where one is powerful floating point digital signal processor (DSP) used for the main computing routines and the other one is a fixed point DSP with on-chip peripherals for motor control applications. The applied software scheduling implies real-time multitasking operating system with task switching times less than 300ns reducing the overhead to minimum possible for the given floating point DSP. The sample period of the main control cycle is arbitrary adjustable from 1ms to up to 10 mu s making the system applicable in a wide range of experimental setups. The operating system was designed to handle asynchronous read and/or write events from and to real-time workstations for HIL simulations. An application graphical user interface (GUI) based on high speed IEEE1394 data exchange provides the user with the ability to monitor and modify virtually every software variable defined as global in the control software.

In this paper, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation method for attitude injection trajectory simulation is proposed. In this paper, a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation method of network performance of high-speed railway mobile communication system is proposed. The radio channel emulator and GSM for railway (GSM-R) system are used in the simulation system to imitate the actual GSM-R network in the high-speed railway. Based on this method, the realization of simulation of the wireless network is illustrated in detail including how to imitate the large-scale, small-scale fading and interference in the radio channel emulator. Then the circuit switching quality of service (QoS) indicators, such as end-to-end transmission delay and transmission interference, are measured using this method. According to the measurement results, the movement speed does not significantly affect the transmission delay while the transmission interference performance gets worse with the increasing of movement speed. Finally, some further research on the wireless network performance is proposed based on the simulation method.

This paper proposes an architecture for applying hardware-in-the-loop simulation techniques to the design and testing of robot manipulators. Potential benefits of this architecture include allowing concurrent development of hardware and control system components and providing a reusable platform for reconfigurable manipulators through a generic and modular structure. An implementation of this architecture in the preliminary, phases of development is presented, here to demonstrate how these benefits can be realized.

5G network for railway (5G-R) emerges as a promising train-ground communication solution, concurrently facing ubiquitous connectivity and reliable transmission design challenges. This paper focuses on the impact of different channel models and Doppler effects on the physical layer transmission performance of the 5G-R communication system. Based on the 5G-R channel hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform, we measured and compared the performance of the 5G-R system in terms of bit error rate (BER) and error vector magnitude (EVM) across different scenarios. The measurement results reveal that non-line-of-sight propagation and Doppler effects during high-speed movement contribute to the deterioration of the system's BER and EVM. Nevertheless, enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio can mitigate the impact of these factors to some extent.

A test stand consisting of one-third segment car body which simulates bending vibration is developed to evaluate ride comfort of maglev vehicles. The test stand utilizes hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS), which simulates motion of the missing segment using numerical simulation. Experimental results confirm that the test stand with the HILS system can generate the bending vibration accurately. Then, a method to reduce the bending vibration is proposed. Fundamental experiments using the test stand indicate that the optimally-designed anchor, a coupling element between the car body and the bogie, can reduce the bending vibration. It is expected that this test stand will lead to improvement of ride comfort of maglev vehicles.

Aiming at the system errors caused by the original servo simulation test environment and the method errors caused by the calculation methods of transient, position and frequency characteristics in the semi-physical simulation test of the aircraft control system;a semi-physical servo simulation test system for the control system was designed and implemented. The servo simulation test system is mainly composed of a servo mechanism, an analog load table, a swing angle displacement sensor, a data acquisition board, a swing angle displacement acquisition computer, and a connecting cable. Through the unified test process and test method, as well as environmental calibration and test compensation, the dynamic and static test of the open loop servo mechanism is realized. The test results show that the method can detect various technical indicators of the servo mechanism, quickly assessing whether the servo mechanism meets the requirements of the simulation test with good real-time performance.

This paper presents a 9-degree of freedom (DOF) vehicle model combined with a closed loop driver model for the purpose of developing vehicle lateral control. The driver model was developed to control the steering angle and uses the lookup table path as a reference for the control input. The proposed outer-loop controller structure for the driver model is a combination of proportional gain control with a yaw effect adaptive fuzzy logic control. A stepper motor model, rack and pinion model, and kinematics model of the steering system are also briefly introduced as an inner-loop sub-system for stepper motor actuated steering (SMAS) system. The proposed inner-loop controller is a closed-loop positioning control for the stepper motor. The performance of the outer-loop and inner-loop controllers were evaluated using predefined trajectory for lanekeeping and double lane change (DLC) maneuvers at 80 km/h constant speed. Both of the controller's software-in-the-loopsimulations (SILS) results were validated using an instrumented automatic steering test rig through the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS). The SILS and HILS results show that the proposed driver model is capable of improving the Y-axis trajectory error and maneuvers significantly and the proposed SMAS system is capable of tracking the desired steering angle position and producing the front wheel steer angle for the use of vehicle model.
