rDBF: A r-Dimensional Bloom Filter for massive scale membership query

Bloom Filter is a data structure for membership filtering that is deployed in various domains to boost up the lookup performance and to lower the memory consumption. Bloom Filter has gained a massive popularity nowadays, and thus, it is deployed in diverse domains, namely, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Networking and Security, Bioinformatics, and IoT. Large scale computing uses a huge memory space, on the contrary, Bloom Filter uses a tiny amount of memory space. However, contemporary solution uses large amounts of memory per input item, and uses very complex arithmetic operations. Therefore, in this article, we propose a novel algorithm, called r-Dimensional Bloom Filter which comprises of Two Dimensional Bloom Filter (2DBF), Three Dimensional Bloom Filter (3DBF), Four Dimensional Bloom Filter (4DBF), and Five Dimensional Bloom Filter (5DBF), and it features a) a very fast filtering system, b) less false positive, c) low extra space consumption, d) free from false negative, e) high adaptability, and f) high scalability. Also, multidimensional Bloom Filter is not found in our literature search. But, many solutions claim the development of multidimensional Bloom Filter. However, these are hierarchical Bloom Filters. To evaluate our proposed data structure, we conduct has carried out an extensive experimentation. 2DBF, 3DBF, 4DBF, and 5DBF outperforms Cuckoo Filter in every aspect. We have experimented using Microsoft trace data and Twitter tweets data.

Blockchain Technology has been proposed to tackle author, centrality and storage issues. It converts centralized applications into dynamic distributed ones. Many researchers have proposed protocols and applications for mapping the old central applications into blockchain based distributed application. In this work, new system framework for Public World Wide Used Motor Vehicle History Reporting System, named CarChain, is proposed and designed. The new framework has not been constructed based on any of the popular well-known public blockchain networks. The framework constructs a peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay network that broadcasts transactions as any end system multicasting system in P2P live streaming applications. The framework allows car owners, repairing companies and insurance agencies to register and add new histories for cars in a simple method. Four different smart contracts control block updates in CarChain. In addition, database technology has been leveraged to cache intermediate data. We show in this paper the challenges and research opportunities that encounter blockchain based applications, such as CarChain.

Online integrity and authentication checking for Quran electronic versions

The ability to control data and information through the Internet can be challenging. Preliminary analysis showed that some tampering and forgery may occur to some words of the Quran in the electronic versions that span the Internet. Such small modifications may not be noticed by public audience. The holy book of Quran includes a unique feature in that its worldwide copies are all identical. The 114 chapters (Suras) and all their verses and words are preserved in the exact form. As such, we designed and evaluated a model and a tool to evaluate the integrity of the wording in the e-versions of the Quran through generating a Meta data related to all words in the Quran preserving the counts and locations. Such Meta data can be used in the same way hash algorithms are used in security to check the integrity of a disk and its data files where any small change in the data will result in a different hash value. We conducted several experiments to evaluate the different parameters and challenges that can impact the automatic authentication process of Quranic verses based on information retrieval and hashing algorithms. © 2015 The Authors

This paper presents ScaleBricks, a new design for building scalable, clustered network appliances that must "pin" flow state to a specific handling node without being able to choose which node that should be. ScaleBricks applies a new, compact lookup structure to route packets directly to the appropriate handling node, without incurring the cost of multiple hops across the internal interconnect. Its lookup structure is many times smaller than the alternative approach of fully replicating a forwarding table onto all nodes. As a result, ScaleBricks is able to improve throughput and latency while simultaneously increasing the total number of flows that can be handled by such a cluster. This architecture is effective in practice: Used to optimize packet forwarding in an existing commercial LTE-to-Internet gateway, it increases the throughput of a four-node cluster by 23%, reduces latency by up to 10%, saves memory, and stores up to 5.7x more entries in the forwarding table.

Bloom Filter Supporting Distributed Policy-Based Management in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are particularly special due to many characteristics, such as a working environment that makes maintenance and support a challenge; and hardware resources, particularly memory, processing and battery power, that make it capable of handling only limited software. Consequently, the administration of WSN is becoming a challenge. To overcome these limitations we proposed Distributed Policy-Based Management (DBPM) framework. Our proposed framework is expected to conceal the complexity of administrating policies operations from the users by simplifying the deployment processes. Bloom Filter is an elegant data structure that answers the membership inquiry with no false negative and manageable false positive. In this paper we propose utilizing Bloom Filter in Distributed Policy-Based Management (DPBM) environment in WSN to confirm the existence of any policy within the WSN, which will reduce the traffic within the network as well as preserve the sensor node energy.

With the availability of large amounts of DNA data, exact matching of nucleotide sequences has become an important application in modern computational biology and in meta-genomics. In this paper we present an efficient method based on multiple hashing functions which improves the performance of existing string matching algorithms when used for searching DNA sequences. From our experimental results it turns out that the new proposed technique leads to algorithms which are up to 8 times faster than the best algorithm known for matching multiple patterns. It turns out also that the gain in performances is larger when searching for larger sets. Thus, considering the fact that the number of reads produced by next generation sequencing equipments is ever growing, the new technique serves a good basis for massive multiple long pattern search applications.

The use of short interfering RNA (siRNA) is an emerging powerful method for gene silencing. siRNA is a short RNA sequence that targets mRNA and causes the sequence-specific degradation of the mRNA. Despite its importance, few efforts have been made to develop algorithms and computational tools to detect genes controlled by siRNA process. This paper introduces an algorithm that uses an intelligent technique based on voting to determine whether a specific gene can be endogenously controlled by the cell using a siRNA sequence. When applying the proposed algorithm;the experimental results show that it requires relatively small memory space (not more than 70 MB) and in less than 3 minutes to determine whether a human gene can endogenously controlled. This makes the proposed algorithm practical to run into large genomes, specially the Human genome, and its specificity for only single gene increases its medical benefit as a tool for detecting treatments for specific diseases.

In the quest to build exascale supercomputers, designers are increasing the number of hierarchical levels that exist among system components. Software developed for these systems must account for the various hierarchies to achieve maximum efficiency. The first step in this work is to identify groups of processes that share common resources. We develop, analyze, and test several algorithms that can split millions of processes into groups based on arbitrary, user-defined data. We find that bitonic sort and our new hash-based algorithm best suit the task.
