An alternative contact/impact identification algorithm for 2d structural problems

This paper presents a new algorithm to identify the occurrence of impact (contact) among structures. Structures are modeled here by finite elements and the resulting formulation is employed to solve two-dimensional frame impact problems by the Lagrange Multiplier technique. The proposed algorithm is based on potential theory, largely employed in various fields of physics. The potential theory is used together with integral equations making possible to compare relative positions among nodes of different structures involved in a collision process. The present technique may be used to model the contact prevision among two or three-dimensional structures or between structures and rigid obstacles. In order to show the applicability of the proposed technique, numerical answers for 2D problems are compared with both analytical solutions and numerical results given by other authors.

A Gamma-Ray identification algorithm Based on Fisher Linear Discriminant Analysis

An algorithm for gamma-ray identification applications has been developed and evaluated. The algorithm is based on a Fisher Linear Discriminant Analysis (FLDA) technique that generates loading coefficients that maximize the separation of a particular radionuclide from all the other radionuclides in a training library. Separate experimental data sets were obtained for the algorithms training data and for the performance evaluation. The algorithm was evaluated against a range of radionuclides and acquisitions times. An inverse square root relationship between the cluster standard deviation and its gross mean counts enabled the production of an adaptable threshold. The inverse square relationship between the Mahalanobis distance metric and the Cs-137 standoff distance demonstrated a means to quantify the measured number of counts. The FLDA identification performance, for a number of threat radionuclides (including special nuclear materials), exceeded that of a commercially available peak search algorithm. The high sensitivity and specificity, of the FLDA algorithm, was maintained in low count situations. The poor performance for some radionuclides was attributed to the measured number of counts being below the minimal detectable limit. The FLDA algorithm has the potential to be used in gamma-ray identification applications and, in particular, count starved situations.

Research on coil identification algorithm of wireless power transmission system based on deep learning

In the practical application of wireless power transfer (WPT) technology, the identification of uncertain secondary side coil is of great significance to the interoperability of the WPT system. Whether the secondary coil can be accurately identified to realize the ideal match of the primary coil and the secondary coil is one of the keys to achieve efficient power transmission. Based on the characteristics of magnetic field image, this paper combines the convolutional neural network (CNN) to realize the recognition of the coil type, and establishes a 4-layer and 6-layer neural network respectively, and the recognition accuracy is as high as 98%. Compared with the existing visual geometry group (VGG) 16 neural network algorithm, the proposed algorithm has lower complexity and is more suitable for the WPT application field. Calibration of a (6+3)-DOF kinematically redundant parallel mechanism based on hybrid identification algorithm and two-step compensation strategy

To improve both the absolute accuracy and pose repeatability of a (6 + 3)-DOF kinematically redundant parallel mechanism (KRPM), a novel kinematic calibration method based on hybrid identification algorithm and two-step compensation strategy is proposed. Firstly, the error model is established, and the joint clearances are treated equivalently. On this basis, the global sensitivity index (GSI) is introduced to analyze the influence of parameter errors. Secondly, the absolute accuracy and pose repeatability are evaluated with the quasi-Monte Carlo simulation method (QMCSM) and the three-dimensional ellipsoidal error probability method (ESEPM). Thirdly, a hybrid identification algorithm combining Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm and adaptive differential evolution (ADE) algorithm is proposed to ensure the identification speed and accuracy. Finally, the error compensation is carried out by two steps. The experimental results show that the absolute accuracy and pose repeatability of the KRPM are improved by at least 52.8 % and 12.5 % respectively based on the novel method.

The paper presents an effective identification method in fuzzy relational systems. We propose an algorithm for constructing models on the basis of fuzzy and nonfuzzy data with the aid of fuzzy discretization and clustering techniques. The usefulness of the method provided is demonstrated by means of two numerical examples. Also a possible way of generating a linguistic decision-making algorithm is discussed.

Gust Front Statistical Characteristics and Automatic identification algorithm for CINRAD

Gust front is a kind of meso-and micro-scale weather phenomenon that often causes serious ground wind and wind shear. This paper presents an automatic gust front identification algorithm. Totally 879 radar volume-scan samples selected from 21 gust front weather processes that occurred in China between 2009 and 2012 are examined and analyzed. Gust front echo statistical features in reflectivity, velocity, and spectrum width fields are obtained. Based on these features, an algorithm is designed to recognize gust fronts and generate output products and quantitative indices. Then, 315 samples are used to verify the algorithm and 3 typical cases are analyzed. Major conclusions include： 1） for narrow band echoes intensity is between 5 and 30 dBZ, widths are between 2 and 10 km, maximum heights are less than 4 km （89.33%are lower than 3 km）, and the lengths are between 50 and 200 km. The narrow-band echo is higher than its surrounding echo. 2） Gust fronts present a convergence line or a wind shear in the velocity field;the frontal wind speed gradually decreases when the distance increases radially outward. Spectral widths of gust fronts are large, with 87.09% exceeding 4 m s-1 . 3） Using 315 gust front volume-scan samples to test the algorithm reveals that the algorithm is highly stable and has successfully recognized 277 samples. The algorithm also works for small-scale or weak gust fronts. 4） Radar data quality has certain impact on the algorithm.

An identification algorithm of Systemically Important Financial Institutions Based on Adjacency Information Entropy

The identification and supervision of systemically important financial institutions (SIFIs) are crucial for regulators to address systemic risks to the financial system. Prevalent identification methods are biased because less attention is paid to the indirect connections among financial institutions. This study proposes a novel method for measuring the systemic importance of financial institutions. The proposed method is an identification algorithm based on adjacency information entropy that integrates the direct and the indirect connections among financial institutions. The sizes of financial institutions will not be investigated, and each financial institution is regarded as a node in the financial system network. The adjacency degree of every node is calculated. Subsequently, the information entropy of each node can be determined. The magnitude of the information entropy is taken as the importance measure of these financial institutions in the financial network. We conduct empirical analysis by employing the data of stock prices of 16 listed banks in the Chinese securities market with a sample period from October 2007 to December 2019 and adopt the method presented in this study to rank the systemic importance of these banks. Analysis shows that the ranking is in accordance with the reality, and the algorithm will promote the accuracy of identifying SIFIs.

Inertia is an important property in power systems to counteract frequency deviations due to power fluctuations. However, the proliferation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the grid has decreased system inertia because they do not have or have a small rotating mass. This produces stability challenges as increasing the frequency deviation and rate of change of frequency, which can produce power electronics converter malfunctions, disconnection of large renewable generation, black-out, and load shedding. The Virtual Synchronous Machine (VSM) has emerged as a promising solution for controlling converters to integrate RES, emulating the inertial response of conventional synchronous generators. Nevertheless, designing VSM parameters presents a significant challenge, especially in scenarios involving unbalanced grid conditions. This paper proposes an adaptive inertia control scheme using an Orthogonal Projection algorithm (VSM-POA) to calculate the inertia of VSM to improve the stability of an unbalanced power system. This approach determines the inertia based on an identification algorithm that analyzes the frequency deviations in the presence of torque changes of the VSM to compute the inertia. To show the performance of the VSM-POA approach, time-domain simulations will be carried out in a four-wire system with an unbalanced current considering load variations. Moreover, the approach will be evaluated in a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) structure. Results indicate that the VSM-POA controller exhibits a lower Rate of Change of Frequency (ROCOF), reduced maximum frequency deviation, and decreased frequency oscillations compared with VSM with constant inertia.

This paper overviews briefly IoT by reviewing the literature and describes a real scenario use case to perceive the requirements and challenges related to user identification. Thus, an automated, easy, and secure Device Recognition (DR) algorithm is suggested to address the user identification problem. A coefficient representing the device identification rate is used for assessing the DR algorithm. A literature review of identification techniques was conducted to identify the research challenges. Then, the paper introduces a new identifier format to address identity management concerning device type, mobility and system scalability. The present paper addresses user identification problems and proposes a new Single Thing Sign-On Identity Management System that focuses on user services. The suggested framework allows user identification and authorized services access by identifying only one of the user's things (devices, actuators, sensors, etc.).

Unbalance existing in the mechanical systems is one of the most common causes which lead to unexpected vibration, nonsmooth motions, uncertain dynamics and even instability. In this paper, the problem of unbalance identification is investigated for the countershaft system of a 2-DOE arm-typed precision centrifuge. In order to identify the phase and amplitude of the unbalance, a specific procedure is developed and a novel identification algorithm is proposed which utilizes two axis-layout displacement transducers installed associated to the mainshaft system to measure its tilt angle. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by some numerical simulation experiments in ADAMS environment.
