A sensitivity enhancement PEC method for bottom flaws and corrosions detection

Eddy current testing (ECT) is an efficient tool to detect the bottom flaw and corrosion because of its charac-teristics of non-contact, high sensitivity, and flexible. Compared with conventional ECT, the pulsed eddy current (PEC) testing applies instantaneous power to the measured object, thereby obtaining obvious transient response. In this paper, a novel Gauss-pulse-modulation eddy current (GPMEC) method is proposed to enhance the sensitivity of sensor. The energy excited by excitation coil is higher at the carrier frequency through frequency analysis. Correspondingly, an appropriate carrier frequency is chosen based on skin depth. Moreover, the Gauss window function acts on pulse-modulation signal to further increase the energy distribution. Following this, the experiments for bottom flaws and corrosions detection are carried out. The theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate that GPMEC is advantageous over than conventional PEC for bottom flaws detection.

Automatic extraction of blood cells in bone marrow examination with an automatic imaging instrument

The bone marrow examination is an essential investigation, from diagnosing many hematologic diseases to evaluating the effectiveness of treatment. Evaluation of bone marrow smears in bone marrow examination requires microscopic counting by a clinical laboratory technician. To obtain reliable test results, they must acquire extensive experience and high technical skills. However, this current method limits the number of examinations due to a chronic shortage of human resources. To solve this issue, various studies have been conducted on methods utilizing both deep learning and image processing technology for the automatic classification of blood cells. When incorporating these methods into actual clinical examinations, medical technologists must manually obtain the images of bone marrow smear surface at high magnification utilizing an optical microscope. However, this process significantly consumes time and labor. Thus, the purpose of this study is to develop an automatic imaging system for bone marrow smear surfaces by combining an imaging instrument and a method for determining a focused image. Moreover, based on the results of analyzing the color features of blood cells, this paper proposes a system that generates images suitable for automatic classification of blood cells by extracting individual blood cells utilizing image processing technology such as the watershed algorithm. To validate the effectiveness of the system, we conducted a case study. The results confirmed that the system could automatically obtain images of bone marrow smear surfaces, and 3114 blood cells were successfully extracted from 20 images (155 cells per image). The number of these that could be classified by the technician was 2871 (92.2%).

Experimental Study on Measuring and Tracking Structural Displacement Based on Surveillance Video image Analysis

The digital image method of monitoring structural displacement is receiving more attention today, especially in non-contact structure health monitoring. Some obvious advantages of this method, such as economy and convenience, were shown while it was used to monitor the deformation of the bridge structure during the service period. The image processing technology was used to extract structural deformation feature information from surveillance video images containing structural displacement in order to realize a new non-contact online monitoring method in this paper. The influence of different imaging distances and angles on the conversion coefficient (eta) that converts the pixel coordinates to the actual displacement was first studied experimentally. Then, the measuring and tracking of bridge structural displacement based on surveillance video images was investigated by laboratory-scale experiments under idealized conditions. The results showed that the video imaging accuracy can be affected by changes in the relative position of the imaging device and measured structure, which is embodied in the change in eta (actual size of individual pixel) on the structured image. The increase in distance between the measured structure and the monitoring equipment will have a significant effect on the change in the eta value. The value of eta varies linearly with the change in shooting distance. The value of eta will be affected by the changes in shooting angle. The millimeter-level online monitoring of the structure displacement can be realized using images based on surveillance video images. The feasibility of measuring and tracking structural displacement based on surveillance video images was confirmed by a laboratory-scale experiment.

Influence of paste coating thickness on the compressive strength, permeability, and mesostructure of permeable concrete

The macro performance and mesostructure of permeable concrete are largely determined by the paste coating thickness (PCT) on aggregates within the fresh mixture. Accordingly, in the present study, the strength and permeability of permeable concrete with different paste coating thicknesses were measured. The mesostructure characteristics of cement paste and pore were subsequently quantified by Xray CT images and image processing techniques. As a result, the influence of PCT on the compressive strength and permeability, the characteristics of cement paste and pore was determined. The distribution of cement paste thickness and total pore size were used as functions of paste coating thickness, which coud be used to predict these mesostructure characteristics at the design stage of permeable concrete. The significance of this paper includes providing a deeper understanding of the relationship between macro performance and mesostructure from the perspective of paste coating thickness within mixtures. Rapid and nondestructive detection of sorghum adulteration using optimization algorithms and hyperspectral imaging

This paper proposes a sorghum adulteration detection model using hyperspectral imaging technology (HSI), image processing technology, and multivariate analysis technology. The model used a watershed algorithm to extract hyperspectral data from sorghum grains. Principal component analysis (PCA) and clustering analysis (CA) were used to remove abnormal samples of sorghum. Partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was used to identify the variety of sample, and a sorghum distribution map and adulteration ratios were obtained by marking varieties with different colors. This paper presents, for the first time, HSI use for identification of adulteration in sorghum using PCA and CA. Accuracy of the model identification for the validation set reached 96%, and for the adulterated samples reached 91%, and comprehensive accuracy of the model could reach more than 90%. These results show that the model can rapidly and nondestructively detect sorghum adulteration.

Study on mesostructure and stress-strain characteristics of pervious concrete with different aggregate sizes

This work aimed to study the mesostructure and compressive behavior of pervious concrete (PC) with different aggregate sizes, and to explore the mechanism responsible for the resulted performance. The mesostructure of PC was quantitatively evaluated, including the distribution of internal voids, the distribution of aggregates and the thickness of cement paste using image processing technology. In addition, the full stress-strain curve of PC was obtained by the uniaxial compressive strength test, in which the uniaxial stress-strain characteristics and the whole process of compressive failure was assessed. The results show that the larger the particle size of the aggregate, the fewer the number of voids, and the larger the average diameter of voids. The aggregate distribution in PC with different aggregate sizes is different, but is approximately uniformly distributed. The cement paste thickness of the PC studied in this paper ranges from 0.4 to 0.7 mm. With the same cement content and different aggregate composition, the thickness of cement paste gradually decreases with the decrease of aggregate size. It is found that the stress-strain curve of PC has the same change trend as that of ordinary concrete, and it is a biased unimodal curve. Furthermore, the failure of the PC is proved to be a shear failure. During the destruction of PC, the aggregate is also destroyed which is different from the damage of ordinary concrete.

Assessing the Analytical Solution of One-Dimensional Gravity Wave Model Equations Using Dam-Break Experimental Measurements

The one-dimensional gravity wave model (GWM) is the result of ignoring the convection term in the Saint-Venant Equations (SVEs), and has the characteristics of fast numerical calculation and low stability requirements. To study its performances and limitations in 1D dam-break flood, this paper verifies the model using a dam-break experiment. The experiment was carried out in a large-scale flume with depth ratios (initial downstream water depth divided by upstream water depth) divided into 0 and 0.10.4. The data were collected by image processing technology, and the hydraulic parameters, such as water depth, flow discharge, and wave velocity, were selected for comparison. The experimental results show that the 1D GWM performs an area with constant hydraulic parameters, which is quite different from the experimental results in the dry downstream case. For a depth ratio of 0.1, the second weak discontinuity point, which is connected to the steady zone in the 1D GWM, moves upstream, which is contrary to the experimental situation. For depth ratios of 0.20.4, the moving velocity of the second weak discontinuity point is faster than the experimental value, while the velocity of the shock wave is slower. However, as the water depth ratio increases, the hydraulic parameters calculated by 1D GWM in the steady zone gradually approach the experimental value.

Heart failure, a condition characterized by a decline in cardiac pumping capacity, necessitates precise assessment of cardiac function due to its systemic impact on blood circulation. Dynamic cardiac ultrasound imaging serves as a crucial tool for evaluating left ventricular function. The quality of these images directly influences the accuracy of diagnostics and the effectiveness of treatments. Existing cardiac ultrasound image processing technologies face limitations in enhancing details, noise reduction, and capturing dynamic information. This study introduces a novel image processing technique that integrates visual attention mechanisms and generative adversarial networks (GAN) to enhance the details of dynamic cardiac ultrasound images. Additionally, it employs an algorithm based on dynamic contour models for image segmentation and assessment of left ventricular function. The application of these techniques aims to improve the processing quality of cardiac ultrasound images, enabling more accurate assessments of left ventricular function and providing more effective support for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure patients.

Vehicle headlamp is a very important component for safe driving. The calibration of vehicle headlamp must be done in accordance with standard (JJG967-2001), such as the distribution of shade and the luminosity distribution of far light and close light. Photoelectric measurements, for example, electronic scanning system, dot array of photoelectric cell system and CCD measurement system, were used to research the shade distribution and the luminosity distribution. In order to expedite the measuring process and acquire more accurate parameters, CCD measurement system is proposed to measure more characteristic parameters of headlamp at higher speed. image processing technology is utilized to get the characteristic parameters such as luminous intensity and optic axis deviation angle for headlamp. Some software algorithms of digital image processing can be used to achieve an uncertainty of luminous intensity of less than or equal to 2%, and an uncertainty of deviation angle of optic axis of less than or equal to 1.6 minute. Experimental results showed that it has many advantages such as high precision, good repetition.

The heavy amount of English homework correction has resulted in Teachers' lax examination of homework, insufficient attention to homework problems, and low attention to homework correction. With the continuous growth of the number of educated people, more and more schools begin to have the problem of low efficiency of English homework correction. Therefore, in order to optimize the homework correction system, improve the efficiency of English teachers' homework correction, and give full play to teachers' positive feedback on homework, a smart app on mobile phone can be developed to scan and correct traditional paper homework. Based on image processing technology and neural network algorithm, this paper designs and establishes a mobile app that can recognize and extract English homework topics and handwriting with nearly 90% accuracy through Android system platform. Based on the homework answers entered in the database, the rapid correction of English homework can be realized. After using this software, the overall efficiency of English homework grading has significantly improved. For multiple-choice and fill in the blank questions, the total factor productivity of 14 and 15 units was greater than 1, accounting for 63.6% and 68.1% of the nursing units participating in the study, respectively. This indicates that the efficiency of English homework grading in most units is constantly improving and showing a good development trend. Among them, the homework correction efficiency for multiple-choice questions is only 6 units, and the pure technical efficiency is less than 1, indicating that the improvement of technical means has a significant impact on efficiency.
