Using deep learning to recognize the hand gestures of deaf-mutes quickly and to translate coherent sign language efficiently is of great social significance to solve the communication barriers between deaf-mutes and normal people. However, the detection network based on deep learning cannot be deployed to mobile terminals with limited memory and computing power due to its huge model and computation. To solve this problem, an efficient gesture detection algorithm based on pose estimation is proposed, that is, after judging whether people raise their hands to make gestures by pose estimation, detection network quickly recognizes hand gestures. Firstly, a small dataset of high frequency isolated hand gestures is constructed to train and test the ***, the structure of the original pose detection network OpenPose is optimized from backbone, initial stage and refinement stage to make the network more lightweight. Then, a pruning algorithm combining channel and layer is carried out to compress the network. After pruning, the size of the model was only 7MB, and the inference speed was significantly increased to 106fps, and the accuracy sacrifice was only 1%. After the fine-pruning, the accuracy rises and slightly more than the original. Finally, the network is deployed to the chip AR9301, which is accelerated by hardware accelerator quantization to further improve the performance.

The authors present a particular implementation of expert control. Specifically, relay feedback proportional-integral-derivative (PID) autotuning is presented. The main characteristics of the implementation are the blackboard architecture of the knowledge base and the clear separation of heuristic logic from the numerical algorithms. Various heuristics have been implemented to give a number of desired features. The result is an intelligent PID autotuner. This implementation attempts to attain the following goals: to achieve stable control with a minimal amount of prior process knowledge; to improve control with increasing process knowledge; to automatically select appropriate controller structures (PI or PID); to monitor control performance; and to build a system such that the control knowledge and heuristics are easy to modify and extend.< >

Deer Vehicle Collisions (DVCs) is a major concern in road safety that results in loss of human life, properties and wildlife. DVCs mostly occurs during the fourth quarter of the year when deer are more active andless attentive. DVCs are increasing due to the increase in number of vehicles and the absence of intelligent highway safety and alert systems. One of the most challenging issues is to detect deer and its movement on roadways during both day and nighttime to mitigate DVCs. Thus, this paper proposed a deer detection and movement, DDM technique to automate DVCs mitigation system The DDM combines computer vision, artificial intelligent methods with deep learning techniques. DDM includes two main deep learning algorithms 1) one-stage deep learning algorithm based on Yolov5 that generates a detection model (DM) to detect deer and 2) deep learning algorithm developed by python toolkit DeepLabCut to generate movement model (MM) for detecting the movement of the deer. The proposed method can detect deer with 99. 7% precision and usingDeepLabCuttoolkit on the detected deer we can ascertain if the deer is moving or static with an inference speed of $\theta$. 29s.

Vista Control Systems Inc. is developing a portable system for intelligent accelerator control. Our system is general purpose and has been designed to be reused at multiple accelerator facilities. This portability arises from the hierarchical object-oriented nature of the architecture. The control system employs a multi-level organization in which knowledge based inferencing is used to dynamically configure a variety of optimization and control algorithms. We discuss results from recent beamline tuning tests at the Brookhaven National Laboratory ATF and the ATLAS facility at Argonne. Results are analyzed along a number of dimensions, including portability, performance as benchmarked against human tuning, adaptive behavior, noise handling, integration of control subsystems, and support for rapid knowledge capture and utilization.

The traditional message passing algorithm developed by Pearl in 1980s provides exact inference for discrete poly-tree Bayesian networks. When there are multiple paths (loops) in the network, we can still apply Pearl's algorithm to provide approximate solutions and it is so-called "loopy propagation". However, when mixed random variables (continuous and discrete variables) are present in the network, there is no theoretical sound method so far for efficient message passing. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to compute, propagate and integrate the messages for hybrid models. Specifically, we propose to first partition the network into separate parts by introducing the concept of interface nodes. We then apply different algorithms for each sub-network. Finally we integrate the information through the channel of interface nodes and then calculate the posterior distributions for all hidden variables. The numerical experiment results show that the algorithm works well for hybrid Bayesian networks.

We introduce a new dynamical system for sequentially observed multivariate count data. This model is based on the gamma-Poisson construction-a natural choice for count data-and relies on a novel Bayesian nonparametric prior that ties and shrinks the model parameters, thus avoiding overfitting. We present an efficient MCMC inference algorithm that advances recent work on augmentation schemes for inference in negative binomial models. Finally, we demonstrate the model's inductive bias using a variety of real-world data sets, showing that it exhibits superior predictive performance over other models and infers highly interpretable latent structure.

Models inferred from execution traces (logs) may admit more behaviours than those possible in the real system (over-approximation) or may exclude behaviours that can indeed occur in the real system (under-approximation). Both problems negatively affect model based testing. In fact, over-approximation results in infeasible test cases, i.e., test cases that cannot be activated by any input data. Under-approximation results in missing test cases, i.e., system behaviours that are not represented in the model are also never tested. In this paper we balance over- and under-approximation of inferred models by resorting to multi-objective optimization achieved by means of two search-based algorithms: A multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the NSGA-II. We report the results on two open-source web applications and compare the multi-objective optimization to the state-of-the-art KLFA tool. We show that it is possible to identify regions in the Pareto front that contain models which violate fewer application constraints and have a higher bug detection ratio. The Pareto fronts generated by the multi-objective GA contain a region where models violate on average 2% of an application's constraints, compared to 2.8% for NSGA-II and 28.3% for the KLFA models. Similarly, it is possible to identify a region on the Pareto front where the multi-objective GA inferred models have an average bug detection ratio of 110 : 3 and the NSGA-II inferred models have an average bug detection ratio of 101 : 6. This compares to a bug detection ratio of 310928 : 13 for the KLFA tool.

An algorithm for learning the class of Boolean formulas that are expressible as conjunctions of Horn clauses is presented. (A Horn clause is a disjunction of literals, all but at most one of which is a negated variable). The algorithm uses equivalence queries and membership queries to produce a formula that is logically equivalent to the unknown formula to be learned. The amount of time used by the algorithm is polynomial in the number of variables and the number of clauses in the unknown formula.< >

Non-negative data arise in a variety of important signal processing domains, such as power spectra of signals, pixels in images, and count data. This paper introduces a novel non-negative dynamical system (NDS) for sequences of such data, and describes its application to modeling speech and audio power spectra. The NDS model can be interpreted both as an adaptation of linear dynamical systems (LDS) to non-negative data, and as an extension of non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) to support Markovian dynamics. Learning and inference algorithms were derived and experiments on speech enhancement were conducted by training sparse non-negative dynamical systems on speech data and adapting a noise model to the unknown noise condition. Results show that the model can capture the dynamics of speech in a useful way.
