simulation of rocket plume infrared images by computer programs is an important method to study their infrared radiation characteristics. In order to improve the computation efficiency, a simulation method based on CUDA was proposed. Firstly, the characteristics of the LOS (Line of Sight) method in radiative transfer calculation were analyzed. All the path points of LOS method were calculated in advance, and the parallel level was promoted to the number of path points of LOS method and bands of spectrum. In this case, more threads could be mobilized at the same time, and the utilization of GPU was improved. Secondly, A hardware bilinear interpolation method using CUDA texture memory was proposed, which greatly improved the calculation efficiency of physical parameters of the components. Finally, CUDA was also used for acceleration in the projection imaging module of spaceborne infrared sensor. The simulation results show that using CUDA for parallel computing to realize physical parameters search and projection imaging can greatly improve the overall simulation efficiency of rocket plume infrared images.

Aiming at the complicated problem of the radiation model in the traditional infrared image simulation and the practical problem that the model usability is difficult to verify, a simulation method of building object infrared image based on guided filtering enhanced feature prediction is proposed. Based on guided filter enhancing feature extraction of the measured images, the images are divided into different regions according to different properties of the material, and the infrared simulation images of the middle time are obtained by feature prediction and fusion. The experimental results show that the infrared enhancement image of the building object which is generated by this algorithm is consistent with the change of the enhanced image, whether it is from the subjective visual effect or the gray histogram. What's more, the algorithm effectively avoids the cumbersome data processing in the general simulation, and has an engineering practical value, low computational complexity, good real-time performance.

The development of infrared imaging guidance technology has promoted the research of infrared imaging simulation technology, and the key of infrared imaging simulation is the generation of IR image. The generation of IR image is worthful in military and economy. In order to solve the problem of credibility and economy of infrared scene generation, a method of infrared scene generation based on the measured image is proposed. Through researching on optical properties of ship-target and sea background, ship-target images with various gestures are extracted from recorded images based on digital image processing technology. The ship-target image is zoomed in and out to simulate the relative motion between the viewpoint and the target according to field of view and the distance between the target and the sensor. The gray scale of ship-target image is adjusted to simulate the radiation change of the ship-target according to the distance between the viewpoint and the target and the atmospheric transmission. Frames of recorded infrared images without target are interpolated to simulate high frame rate of missile. Processed ship-target images and sea-background infrared images are synthetized to obtain infrared scenes according to different viewpoints. Experiments proved that this method is flexible and applicable, and the fidelity and the reliability of synthesis infrared images can be guaranteed.

The infrared radiation characteristics of aircraft are a key focus in attack-defense confrontation and early warning detection.A rapid simulation method for calculating the infrared characteristics of targets is proposed by combining the discrete transfer *** constructing the aerodynamic shape of a Su-27-like aircraft,the flow field parameters and skin temperature under cruise conditions were *** proposed method was used to generate infrared images and calculate infrared radiation intensity at various detection angles,and perform speed *** results indicate that this method has high accuracy;the generated infrared image is clear,accurate,and can be used to identify the characteristic attributes of the *** the pitch detection plane,the total infrared radiation intensity of the aircraft exhibits a“8”distribution,with the fuselage contributing the most(approximately 50%).In the yaw plane,the vertical stabilizer’s infrared radiation intensity shows a lobed distribution,with peaks at 60°and 120°.The method can achieve a calculation speed of four times per second for a single detection angle,meeting real-time processing requirements and providing valuable data for infrared target recognition algorithms.

V2T-GAN: Three-Level Refined Light-Weight GAN with Cascaded Guidance for Visible-to-Thermal Translation

infrared image simulation is challenging because it is complex to model. To estimate the corresponding infrared image directly from the visible light image, we propose a three-level refined light-weight generative adversarial network with cascaded guidance (V2T-GAN), which can improve the accuracy of the infrared simulation image. V2T-GAN is guided by cascading auxiliary tasks and auxiliary information: the first-level adversarial network uses semantic segmentation as an auxiliary task, focusing on the structural information of the infrared image;the second-level adversarial network uses the grayscale inverted visible image as the auxiliary task to supplement the texture details of the infrared image;the third-level network obtains a sharp and accurate edge by adding auxiliary information of the edge image and a displacement network. Experiments on the public dataset Multispectral Pedestrian Dataset demonstrate that the structure and texture features of the infrared simulation image obtained by V2T-GAN are correct, and outperform the state-of-the-art methods in objective metrics and subjective visualization effects.

Training infrared target detection and tracking models based on deep learning requires a large number of infrared sequence images. The cost of acquisition real infrared target sequence images is high, while conventional simulation methods lack authenticity. This paper proposes a novel infrared data simulation method that combines real infrared images and simulated 3D infrared targets. Firstly, it stitches real infrared images into a panoramic image which is used as background. Then, the infrared characteristics of 3D aircraft are simulated on the tail nozzle, skin, and tail flame, which are used as targets. Finally, the background and targets are fused based on Unity3D, where the aircraft trajectory and attitude can be edited freely to generate rich multi-target infrared data. The experimental results show that the simulated image is not only visually similar to the real infrared image but also consistent with the real infrared image in terms of the performance of target detection algorithms. The method can provide training and testing samples for deep learning models for infrared target detection and tracking.

In this paper, a target and background driven simulation procedure is developed for optimal band analysis and performance evaluation of multispectral sensors for dim target detection, in which the observation geometry, target and background radiant characteristics, and the influence of infrared sensor system are integrated into. With the specified sensor altitude, the BeiHang University - Atmospheric Transfer Model (BHU-ATM) is adopted to calculate spectral irradiances of space-variant sky background. When a target with an assumed altitude exists in one line of sight (LOS), the corresponding nadir angle is used to calculate the distance between the target and the sensor, which impacts the target spectral irradiance at the sensor aperture. To analyze the optimal band for target detection, a set of spectral response functions with different central wavelengths and bandwidths are designed to calculate the target-to-background contrasts as well as the signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). To demonstrate the usefulness of the developed procedure, typical sensor parameters are used to analyze the optimal band for aircraft detection. The band achieving the highest SNR is selected and used in the radiant image simulation for performance evaluation. The results show that the detection performance is related to spectral band as well as the LOS direction.

Physically Based Model for Multispectral image simulation of Earth Observation Sensors

Physically based multispectral image simulation consists of sensor system modeling, bottom-of-atmosphere (BOA) image generation, and top-of-atmosphere (TOA) image calculation. TOA radiance images are usually generated using a lookup table (LUT) for computational efficiency, which is calculated by means of atmospheric radiative transfer codes with different combination of input variables, including viewing zenith, solar zenith, and relative azimuth angles;visibility;columnar water vapor;and ground elevation. In this paper, a new strategy is proposed for TOA radiance image simulation, where transmitted surface radiance and atmospheric radiance at the TOA are calculated, respectively, to improve accuracy as well as efficiency. The transmitted surface radiance image is obtained from pixel-by-pixel calculation of BOA radiance and path transmittance. In calculating the atmospheric radiance of TOA, two LUTs are built for the emitted and the scattered radiance from each atmospheric layer, respectively. The effects of visibility and columnar water vapor on the atmospheric radiance are characterized by means of an equivalent path transmittance, which is related to the scene geometry as well as the thickness of atmospheric layer. In this way, when a new scene is simulated, except for three variables, i.e., viewing and solar zenith angles and atmospheric layer number, other parameters are set as constants in building the LUTs, enabling more combinations of input variables without adding excessive computational burden. Multispectral images in different bands with moderate spatial resolution are simulated and compared with the moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) images to demonstrate the accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed strategy.

Currently there is no algorithm which can be adapted to all of the imaging conditions. So, it is necessary for us to find a method to evaluate the existing ATR (automatic target recognition) algorithm. We do some researches on ATR algorithm performance evaluation based on test methodology. The basic idea of the algorithm performance evaluation is to establish the relationship model between the image quality characteristics and the algorithm's performance. In this paper, the algorithm performance evaluation's techniques are studied, which include the algorithm performance assessment framework, the universal test image database's creating, and the research of the image quality evaluation model. Firstly, under the guidance of the orthogonal experimental design method, we construct a universal test image database which includes the simulation image and the outfield flight data. And then this paper propose a method to establish the relation model between image quality characteristic and ATR algorithm based on SVM classifier. Finally we use the model to evaluate algorithm's performance. We conduct experiments on the matching algorithm's performance evaluation. The experimental results show that the proposed evaluation framework is efficient and the evaluation model is well.
