Based on the input-output tables of China in 2007 and 2012, the study applied the input-output method to industry relevancy analysis of producer services in China during five years. It confirmed the category of producer services by intermediate demand, and measured industrial relationship effect by industrial sensitivity factor and industrial influence factor. The results indicated that: the growth of producer services speeded up evidently from 2007 to 2012, China has begun to gradually shift away from the traditional industries that rely on labor-intensive industries, and slowly to the high tech sector, It is important to interactively develop the advanced productive service industry and manufacturing industry so we should develop appropriately the corresponding producer services.

This paper recalculates value added, capital formation, capital stock and related multifactor productivity in China's industrial sectors by further developing the genuine savings method of the World Bank. The sector-level natural capital loss was calculated using China's official input-output table and their extensions for tracing final consumers. The capital output elasticity in the productivity estimation was adjusted based on these tables. The results show that although the loss of natural capital in China's industrial sectors in terms of value added has slowed, the impacts on their productivity during the past decades is still quite clear.

Globally, buildings consume nearly half of the total energy produced, and consequently responsible for a large share of CO2 emissions. A building's life cycle energy (LCE) comprises its embodied energy (EE) and operational energy (OE). The building design, prevalent climatic conditions and occupant behaviour primarily determines its LCE. Thus, for the identification of appropriate emission-reduction strategies, studies into building LCE are crucial. While OE reflects the energy utilized in operating a, EE comprises the initial capital energy involved in its construction (material and burden associated with material consumption in buildings. Assessment of EE and OE in buildings is crucial towards identifying appropriate design and operational strategies for reduction of the building's life cycle energy. This paper discusses EE and OE assessment of a few residential buildings in different climatic locations in India. The study shows that share of OE and EE in LCE greatly depends upon the types of materials used in construction and extent of space conditioning adopted. In some cases EE can exceed life cycle OE. Freeway-to-freeway connector metering is a cost-effective and proven freeway management strategy for relieving recurrent congestion. However, one of the critical challenges in design and operation of freeway-to-freeway connector metering is the lack of up-to-date queue storage length design guidance. In this study, it was found that ramp queue is dynamically related to the metering rate, on-ramp demand, and traffic flow arrival pattern. Hence, simply using an average demand cannot provide accurate queue length estimation and is also not suitable for queue storage design where the maximum or a percentile queue length is generally used. A mesoscopic queue length simulation model was developed based on the input-output method for estimating queue lengths under various demand-to-capacity ratio scenarios. Simulation results indicate that for under-saturated situations, the ramp queue may exist temporally due to the random short-term surge of traffic arrivals, and the exponential function could best capture the relationship between queue length and demand-to-capacity ratio. For over-saturated situations, the ramp queue tends to prolong linearly with the demand-to-capacity ratio. Based on the simulation, it was recommended that queue storage length be designed as 4.3% of on-ramp demand when demand is lower than 1200 vph or 2.3% when demand is between 1200 and 2400 vph. Emerging economies like China, India, and Mexico are becoming the world's manufacturing leaders through the engagement in offshoring production activities. In achieving this status, however, they have met with difficult environmental issues. This paper features an analysis of industry-level panel data to examine the link between different offshoring tasks in China and carbon dioxide emissions. Through this analysis, the environmental effects of offshored production are addressed. Specifically an inputoutput model is presented, thereby quantifying offshored production tasks in China. The results show that iron and steel, nonferrous metals (IS) and chemicals (CH) generate the most carbon dioxide during production of processed goods. Additionally, electrical machinery (EM) and general machinery (GM) generate a higher amount of carbon dioxide during production of parts and components. The results also show that those industries characterized by higher energy consumption have higher carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions induced by offshoring. Given these results, it seems that any solutions geared "towards reducing the energy consumption of entire manufacturing industries would be useful. Furthermore, the results of the analyses presented here indicate that China would be responsible for working with developed countries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through cooperative environmental regulation. A globalization perspective is adopted to offer unique insight into the environmental issues faced by China. The results of this paper would provide quantified, actionable information for formulating practical industrial policies geared towards reducing carbon dioxide leakage. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Industrial parks have been tested in various regions around the world, in attempt to foster innovation and fuel economic growth. Despite the importance of industry co-agglomerations in regional growth, few studies examine them in regional geographic space. This paper combines exploratory spatial data analysis and inputoutputmethod to explore the spatial pattern of key industrial co-agglomerations in Beijing, which is illustrated by location, function, frequency, spatial hierarchy and spacing. The results contribute to linking abstract economic and actual geographical spaces in urban and regional growth, enabling urban and regional planners to judge and evaluate planning initiatives before and after implementation. The failure of sub-center plans and risks of industrial parks schemes in Beijing are addressed. By considering industrial inputoutput relations including environmental and human resources, urban planners can optimize the development of such co-agglomerations to foster sustainable urban development.
