Psychiatric nursing is and has been international. This broad focus is due to multiple factors including the global economy, instant communication, and the reality that mental health issues are not limited by political or geographic boundaries. Furthermore, population migration patterns and the movement of nurses across countries to learn, work, live, and vacation contribute to exposure to multiple cultures. To have effective communication and interventions today, it is incumbent on all of us to improve our cultural sensitivity. Although cultural sensitivity has become a \"buzz word,\" it continues to provide a concise description of an important process. Foronda (2008) has provided a thoughtful definition of cultural sensitivity as \"employing one\'s knowledge, consideration, understanding, respect, and tailoring after realizing awareness of self and others and encountering a diverse group or individual.\" To this end, Archives of Psychiatric Nursing is publishing an issue that focuses upon international work.

The article explores the guidelines for occupational noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) in the context of legal proceedings. In cases of asymmetric hearing loss in industry, the guidelines suggest that the worse ear can be equated to the better ear for purposes of compensation. Doctors who are expert in ear, nose and throat (ENT) and in legal situation are obliged to help the court. It is deemed important to examine the medical evidence to support noise causation in asymmetric hearing loss.

This article surveys some of the recent literature on technology markets, and summarizes its main issues and insights. We structure our analysis in three parts: the supply and demand of technology;the factors that condition the formation and growth of technology markets;industry structure and dynamic issues. In addition, we summarize some of the studies that have tried to document the size and growth of these markets. We find that the literature has focused mainly on the supply of technology, but several other aspects of these markets remain under-studied, including the demand for external technology, the role of uncertainty in technology markets, and the dynamic interaction between industry structure and the market for technology. Understanding these will illuminate whether markets for technology will continue to grow or remained confined to pockets of the economy.

Most markets function nicely and easily; sometimes, all they need is a tree. A well-known story recounts that three centuries ago on Wall Street in the old New Amsterdam, a buttonwood tree marked the spot where traders and speculators would gather to trade informally. In 1792, 24 stockbrokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement, giving birth to the New York Exchange. Markets for technology and ideas (MFTIs) need more than a buttonwood tree to function though. Tom Lavelle, Senior Vice President at Rambus Technology, which leads the field in high-speed memory architectures, summarized the difficulties for MFTI after Rambus filed a suit against Nvidia for patent infringement: "For more than six years, we have diligently attempted to negotiate a licensing agreement with Nvidia, but our good faith efforts have been to no avail" (Business Wire, 2008). Such MFTIs are plagued by maladies, including asymmetric information, moral hazards, transaction costs, and strategic considerations that can even lead to the complete failure of markets (Fosfuri, 2006; Pisano, 2006). This setting explains why MFTIs appear in only a few sectors (e.g. biotechnology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, software, and semiconductors) and remain virtually nonexistent in others. Traditionally, firms do not sell but rather embody their technologies and ideas in goods, services, and people (Teece, 1986).

Grounded provides us a unique portrait of an unusual landscape practice. Chris Phillips, AS LA, Marta Farevaag, and Greg Smal-lenberg, FASLA (PFS) have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to invent collaborative processes with professional colleagues and public institutions, to embrace the history and culture of a variety of site contexts, and to implement ideas that continue to be somewhat ahead of their time. In their words: "We've worked hard to practice the way we want, with the people we respect, on projects we enjoy."

The reconstruction of war-damaged areas and buildings has attracted much interest in recent years, including studies of how ideas about whether and how to conserve developed. This study explores these ideas using one building type - the church - usually prominent in the lownscape and in people's experiences of areas.

From a discursive-institutionalist perspective I seek to establish the influence exerted over environmental agenda setting and policy change by ideas and discourse, through an examination of recent developments in the UK's flagship biofuels policy, the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO). Discursive institutionalism's central contention is that the intricate interactions between ideas and institutions should be at the centre of studies of the policy-making process. By elucidating the mutually reinforcing character of cognitive processes (including 'framing' and 'boundary work') and institutional factors (such as 'standard operating procedures' and path dependency), I show how, despite a raft of countervailing evidence, significant changes in both the form and objectives of the RTFO were precluded. Longer-term research is required to establish the precise precipitating circumstances enabling such stability to result from these feedbacks, however, as it is-theoretically at least-equally likely that far shorter periods of dramatic policy change, or 'paradigm shifts', will emerge.

The article refers to the Longitude Prizes of the 18th century and focuses on the innovation management concept called a tournament for ideas. The incentive mechanism in tournaments or contests that generate innovation and revolutionary or evolutionary ideas is discussed. The design of tournaments from an economic theory perspective such as prize structure is mentioned. A decision tree which includes the major points in the design of tournaments for ideas is discussed. Examples are given of platform and network concepts in market ecosystems that produce an exchange of ideas.

The ideas that shape contemporary services for many people with intellectual disabilities (IDs) were developed more than 35 years ago. In particular \'The principle of normalisation as a system of human management\' (Wolfensberger 1972) has been highly effective in improving housing and support. Institutions that sometimes abused users and staff alike have been replaced by more intensively staffed services, which allow the most challenging people to live without restraints; and most developed countries have passed legislation to address anti-discrimination and promote disability rights.

First published in 2002 as a hardback edition, Planning Latin America\'s capital cities 1850-1950 was awarded the 2004 international Planning History Society Prize for the best book on Spanish and Latin American planning, and the recent paperback edition not only reflects the continuing growth of interest in the local diffusion of foreign-developed planning models and ideas but also underlines the relevance of the work in itself.
