Management Search Inc. (MSI), a recruitment and employment placement firmwith more than 50 employees across three states, began in 1983 as the idea of two men about how tobuild a better mousetrap. Lee Lopez and Thomas Rybeck had been in the recruiting industry for yearsand had noticed a lot of disturbing practices among their colleagues. Too many recruiters were justgetting by with the "throw as much as you can at it and see what sticks" philosophy. Rybeck andLopez knew there was a better way. They founded MSI on a much different philosophy - they believedthe search process should be laid out into a structured plan and implemented consistently in a waythat had been proven successful. Little did they know at the time that they were paralleling ISO9000 ideals formed decades before. And so MSI's focus on quality truly began at MSI's beginning -albeit unknowingly.

George Mines was a pioneering physiologist who, despite an extremely short period of professional activity and only primitive experimental methodology, succeeded in formulating concepts that continue to be of great influence today. Here, we review some of his most important discoveries and their impact on contemporary concepts and clinical practice. Mines' greatest contribution was his conceptualization and characterization of circus movement reentry. His observations and ideas about the basis for cardiac reentrant activity underlie how we understand and manage a wide range of important clinical rhythm disturbances today. The notions he introduced regarding the influence of premature extrastimuli on reentry (termination, resetting and entrainment) are central to contemporary assessment of arrhythmia mechanisms in clinical electrophysiology laboratories and modern device therapy of cardiac tachyarrhythmias. Refinements of his model of reentry have led to sophisticated biophysical theories of the mechanisms underlying cardiac fibrillation. His seminal observations on the influence of electrolyte derangements and autonomic tone on the heart are relevant to our understanding of the physiology and pharmacology of arrhythmias caused by cardiac pathology. In this era of advanced technology, it is important to appreciate that ideas of lasting impact come from great minds and do not necessarily require great tools.
We characterize and classify the "regular classes of heaps" introduced by the author using ideas of Fan and of Stembridge. The irreducible objects fall into five infinite families with one exceptional case.

The Electron Localisation Function, ELF pictorially visualises chemists' intuitive ideas of single and multiple bonds as well as non-bonding electron pairs in molecules. The power of the representation of chemical bonds via ELF is that on the one hand covalent, polar, and ionic bonds are distinguishable, and that on the other hand ELF can be calculated for molecules and solids. This enables us to transfer the ideas of chemical bonding from molecular to intermetallic compounds. Localised two-electron-two-centre bonds and lone pairs are present in solid-state valence compounds (ZintI phases) as expected by the 8-N rule. In solids, lone pairs are generally more contracted than in molecules due to 'lone-pair repulsion'. In intermetallic compounds localised electrons predominantly occur in the form of lone pairs. Lattice vibrations influence the strength of lone pair interactions and non-bonded interactions lead to an exchange of delocalised and localised electrons. Such a mechanism of local electron pair formation gives rise to ideas of a chemical view of the phenomenon of superconductivity in intermetallic compounds.

The author reflects on the statistical methodologies that can be used by authors to improve empirical works in interprofessional literature. He says that statistical questions should be formulated base from identifiable groups relating to interprofessionality and must provide a priori hypotheses of the expected outcome. He adds that potential multilevel structure can be regarded, while clarity, statistical detail, and precision must be improved.

The article explores the book "The Climate of London," by T. J. Chandler which is said to be the first textbook on climatology. It examines the book's overall structure including the physical and cultural setting, the synoptic weather setting and nine weather elements. It mentions that the book is an exposition of the general and urban climatology of the city of London.

Breast cancer starts as a local disease, but it can metastasize to the lymph nodes and distant organs. At primary diagnosis, prognostic markers are used to assess whether the transition to systemic disease is likely to have occurred. The prevailing model of metastasis reflects this view - it suggests that metastatic capacity is a late, acquired event in tumorigenesis. Others have proposed the idea that breast cancer is intrinsically a systemic disease. New molecular technologies, such as DNA microarrays, support the idea that metastatic capacity might be an inherent feature of breast tumours. These data have important implications for prognosis prediction and our understanding of metastasis.

It presents the ideas of heavy-quark symmetry and gives an introduction to some applications.
