High-resolution underwater digital elevation models(DEMs)are important for water and soil conservation,hydrological analysis,and river channel *** this work,the underwater topography of the Panjing River in Shanghai,China,was measured by an unmanned surface *** different interpolation methods were used to generate the underwater DEM and their precision and applicability for different underwater landforms were analyzed through *** results showed that there was a positive correlation between the interpolation error and the terrain surface *** five interpolation methods were all appropriate for the survey area,but their accuracy varied with different surface *** on the analysis results,an integrated approach was proposed to automatically select the appropriate interpolation method according to the different surface roughness in the surveying *** approach improved the overall interpolation *** suggested technique provides a reference for the selection of interpolationmethods for underwater DEMdata.

An interpolation technique has been developed for generation of enlarged dataset from a limited one-dimesional acquired dataset for improving the image quality in quick-scan tomography. The effectiveness of the technique has been tested using data acquired from the first-generation computed tomography (CT) system. The CT images generated using this technique have been compared with the CT images generated from the acquired dataset for the same number of projections. The image quality has been improved on account of (i) enhancement of features, (ii) reduction in reconstruction artifacts, and (iii) magnification of the image without pixelisation.

In this letter we propose an interpolation technique for low-quality fingerprint images for highly reliable feature extraction. To improve the feature extraction rate, we extract fingerprint features by referring to both the interpolated image obtained by using a directional Laplacian filter and the high-contrast image obtained by using histogram equalization. Experimental results show the applicability of our method.

It is a hot topic in the design of information hiding algorithm by a combination of compressed technique and interpolation technique in the future. Higher capacity and better image quality are one of the foremost research contents of information hiding. In recent years, an adaptive information hiding has been a hot content of research in the field of information hiding and network security. This paper proposed an adaptive image steganography using absolute moment block truncation coding compression (AMBTC compression) and interpolation technique (ASAI), which can improve the performance of information hiding scheme. The ASAI scheme proposed can offer the benefits of high embedding capacity with low computational complexity and good image quality. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ASAI scheme has superior performance than others. (C) 2015 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

A 9-bit 500-MS/s 2-bit/cycle SAR ADC With Error-Tolerant interpolation technique

This article presents a 9-bit 500-MS/s 2-bit/cycle successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with an error-tolerant interpolation technique. The proposed interpolation technique uses flip-flops to implement a 2-bit/cycle operation in the SAR ADC. By taking advantage of the metastable region of the flip-flop, the proposed interpolator can defer the bit decision when a decision error occurs with a high probability. Because the SAR ADC approximates the signal range step by step, the deferred decisions proceed to the next conversion cycles without any increase in quantization noise. The deferring-decision characteristic increases the error tolerance in the presence of comparator mismatches and increases the inherent linearity of the interpolation technique compared to conventional latch interpolation. A prototype ADC was designed using the 28-nm CMOS technology to verify the effectiveness of the proposed interpolation technique. The measured signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR) and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) at the Nyquist rate are 50.6 and 61.4 dB, respectively. The power consumption is 1.87 mW at a sampling frequency of 500 MS/s. The proposed ADC achieves a Walden figure of merit (FoM) of 13.5 fJ/conversion-step.

Fast wideband scattering analysis of large-scale finite-sized periodic arrays with planar cells using ASED basis function and interpolation technique

In this paper, the accurate sub-entire-domain (ASED) basis function method is combined with the interpolation technique to efficiently analyze the wideband electromagnetic scattering from the large-scale finite-sized periodic arrays with planar cells. Comparing with the conventional method of moments (MoM), the ASED basis function method can tremendously reduce the number of unknowns. Thus, the computational complexity can be tremendously reduced. It is a single-frequency technique. The impedance matrix needs to be calculated repeatedly at each frequency. The interpolation technique can speed up the wideband simulation because the impedance matrices can be efficiently obtained using the interpolation technique. To validate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method, several numerical examples are carried out. Simulation results show that the results of the proposed technique agree well with those of the ASED bases. Both the CPU time and the memory cost are significantly reduced by using the proposed method.

A fast wideband electromagnetic scattering analysis method based on the interpolation technique and fast generating matrix method is proposed. By factoring out the dominant phase term, the matrix element is transformed into the element which fluctuates slowly with frequency. The matrices over the frequency band are fast generated via interpolation technique. Instead of employing different meshing grids at different frequencies, this new method requires only one mesh generated at the highest frequency of the given bandwidth. This approach not only saves much work in geometrical modeling but also leads to less time for wideband scattering problem. The proposed algorithm is implemented in the platform of FGG-FG-FFT, which is not sensitive to both the grid spacing and the expansion order. A method for fast generating matrix also is introduced to speed up filling the near matrix. Consequently, it can not only reduce the impedance matrix filling time in the whole frequency band but also accelerate the matrix filling process at frequency interpolation sampling points. Several numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the correctness and the efficiency of the proposed method for the wideband scattering analysis.

The use of the efficient interpolation technique with low estimation error is imperative for estimating the channel impulse response at data subcarriers for pilot assisted channel estimation techniques in the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In this paper, a novel interpolation technique based on one dimensional interpolation is presented. The proposed interpolation technique is based on minimizing the interpolation error and channel noise inherent in Least Square (LS) estimation. A comparative analysis of the proposed interpolation with conventional one dimensional interpolation techniques shows its performance improvement.

This paper investigates a novel decision framework for efficient selection of interpolation curve based on distance minimization for 3D rendering applications. The point clouds obtained from low resolution 3D scanners like Microsoft's Kinect or from sparse reconstruction algorithms usually fail to provide accurate information about the surface, either due to occlusions during the scanning process or inability of the scanner to generate a dense model of the surface. The proposed decision framework selects the best interpolation technique on a local basis utilizing the voting parameters obtained from the original point cloud. This framework enables us to obtain the comparatively best fit interpolation curve for upsampling due to the decisive feature of the framework. Experimental results are carried out using two interpolation techniques viz., quadratic spline interpolation and cubic spline interpolation technique to demonstrate the usefulness of such a decision framework for 3D point cloud data. The proposed decision framework is generic and holds good for more than two interpolation techniques.

Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (ULM) represents a safe, non-invasive and low-cost imaging modality for visualization of the microcirculation at clinically relevant depth. In fact, by precisely localizing and tracking microbubbles (MBs) injected in the circulation, ULM characterizes the microsvascular structures. However, ULM is currently constrained to high frame rates necessary to accurately track MBs in two successive frames (kHz-range). Such high frame rates are generally beyond the reach of clinical scanners (sub-100 Hz). Here, we suggest acquiring the data at a lower frame rate followed by applying a reconstruction technique to compensate for the lost information due to the low frame rate imaging. We introduce a novel 2x2D interpolation using radial basis function (RBF)-based reconstruction to estimate unknown values in the 3D In-phase and Quadrature (IQ) data (x-z-t), thereby enhancing temporal resolution. This bidirectional approach improves the reconstruction of MBs' dynamics by interpolating along both x and z directions. The method was tested on a rat brain data demonstrating relaxing the frame rate to 100 Hz while maintaining image quality comparable to the original high frame rate data.
