The main aim of this study is to develop an application which will be able to load DICOM images, segment a tumor on brain slices and create a three-dimensional model of the segmented tumor. Firstly, we present two algorithms depth first search method (DFS) and active contours method, for brain tumor segmentation and compare their performance. Comparison of effectiveness of these two proposed algorithms included discussing parameters complexity of initial conditions that need to be set manually, accuracy of the segmented tumor surface area, and computational time. Described methodology was tested on computerized tomography (CT) medical images from 37 patients using two different algorithms. User-friendly application for tumor segmentation on two-dimensional images and three-dimensional visualization is developed in java. Presented application and results can be used as assistance tools in cases of surgeries, but can also be helpful in brain tumor treatment.

In this paper, java programming with applets for internet-based control education of two mechanical systems are presented. First, a new multi-objective optimization method is applied to obtain the Pareto frontiers of some non-commensurable objective functions in the design of linear state feedback controllers for an inverted pendulum and a ball-beam system. Second, the simulations of the problems were developed with java applets and its results are given. The obtained results and analyses demonstrate that this multi-objective method presented in this paper operates very well in terms of convergence speed, global optimality, solution accuracy, and algorithm reliability. Perl is one of the most important programming languages in many research areas. However, the most relevant Big Data frameworks, Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark and Apache Storm, do not support natively this language. To take advantage of these Big Data engines Perl programmers should port their applications to java or Scala, which requires a huge effort, or use utilities as Hadoop Streaming with the corresponding degradation in the performance. For this reason we introduce PERLDOOP2, a Big Data-oriented Perl-java source-to-source compiler. The compiler is able to generate java code from Perl applications for sequential execution, but also for running on clusters taking advantage of Hadoop, Spark and Storm engines. Perl programmers only need to tag the source code in order to use the compiler. Experimental results demonstrate the benefits of PERLDOOP2 in terms of ease of use, performance and scalability.

Plantar pressure analysis is an important strategy applied in clinical, orthopaedics, sports and rehabilitation studies. In this context, this work describes the development and application of wireless system to monitor plantar pressure. This system is composed by a data acquisition module based on low cost electronic instrumentation, high resolution insole flexible pressure sensor and java application for data real-time visualization. To verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the system, workbench tests were realized and a healthy subject performed pilot trials based on static and dynamic activities on the biomechanics platform. According to the preliminary results, this system is effective to show the interaction between the foot and floor in static and dynamic conditions, presenting a measurement range of pressure of 0-300kPa and rapid response, among other features. Thus, this system is a feasible tool for quick and practical mapping of plantar pressure.

Multi-parameter approximation of stress field in a cracked specimen using purpose-built java applications

A quality of multi-parameter approximation of the stress and displacement fields around a crack tip in a non-brittle material test specimen is studied in the paper. The stress field approximation using Williams power series is intended to be utilized for estimation of the nonlinear zone extent which potentially plays a role within methods for determination of true values of fracture parameters of materials exhibiting nonlinear failure. Considering the fact that in the case of elastic-plastic and especially quasi-brittle materials the size of this zone is substantial in comparison to the specimen dimensions, it is necessary to take a large region around the crack tip into account for this task. An automatic utility created to determine the values of coefficients of the higher order terms of Williams power series by usage of over-deterministic method applied on results of finite element analysis of arbitrary mode I test geometry is one of the tested procedures. The second one provides a backward reconstruction of the crack-tip stress field analytically by means of truncated Williams expansion. The developed procedures are based on the support of java programming language and considerably simplify analyses of the mechanical fields' description in a farther distance from the crack-tip. The presented research is focused on optimization of selection of FE nodal results for improvement of accuracy of the approximation.

The internet banking applications have become more and more complex and almost each bank has got its own service. The login and signature security vary from user/static password authentication method (that is one of the weakest way to manage one's accounts) to certificates and tokens. Also, biometrics is increasingly used in many parts of our lives, from biometric passport, airport authentication and control access. It is easier and safer to login to internet banking with something you have or are (fingerprint, face, iris etc.) than with something you remember (and that can be stolen by malicious software or people). Also, signing an order will be more secure by using a fingerprint than a code generated by a token. A combination of these two authentication methods will lead to a visible security enhancement, too. The fingerprint can be used for two purposes: to open a token device and/or login to the internet banking application or sign an order. This article will introduce some concepts about these two fields: internet banking and biometrics. It will also present a securing internet banking operations model by using biometrics. During our researches, we developed a java application to simulate access to an internet banking web-page. This application will be briefly presented at the end of the paper.

Modern computer applications, especially at enterprise-level, are commonly deployed with a big number of clustered instances to achieve a higher system performance, in which case single machine based solutions are less cost-effective. However, how to effectively manage these clustered applications has become a new challenge. A common approach is to deploy a front-end load balancer to optimise the workload distribution between each clustered application. Since then, many research efforts have been carried out to study effective load balancing algorithms which can control the workload based on various resource usages such as CPU and memory. The aim of this paper is to propose a new load balancing approach to improve the overall distributed system performance by avoiding potential performance impacts caused by Major java Garbage Collection. The experimental results have shown that the proposed load balancing algorithm can achieve a significant higher throughput and lower response time compared to the round-robin approach. In addition, the proposed solution only has a small overhead introduced to the distributed system, where unused resources are available to enable other load balancing algorithms together to achieve a better system performance.

The objectives of an access control system are often described in terms of protecting system resources against inappropriate or undesired user *** there is a request for a resource,the system must check who triggered the request(authentication),check if that user has the permission for the request to be fulfilled(authorisation)and as a result allow or deny the request(enforcement).Thus,an implementation of access control requires a specification of the rights associated to users in relation to resources(a policy).We present a language to express RBAC policies on calls to methods in java,a set of design patterns which java programs must adhere to for the policy to be enforced statically,and a description of the checks made by our static verifier for static enforcement.
