The task of finding suitable commercial thermoelectric coolers (TECs) and determining their configurations in the cooling system designs can be a difficult and cumbersome iterative process due to the varieties of product ranges available from different vendors. This paper presents the development of a computer-aided tool, which is interactive and platform-independent, to assist the designers in the search for appropriate TECs from different manufacturers. Based on the user design specifications, the software can estimate the required heat load, determine the TEC requirements, search for appropriate TECs from various vendors, and analyze the thermal performances of the cooling system designs using different selected TECs. The web has grown tremendously over the past decade - with applications in education, marketing, financial services, and supply chain management. Web technology also has a significant impact on computer simulation. Most of the effort in web-based simulation is aimed at modeling, particularly at building simulation languages and at creating model libraries that can be assembled and executed over the web. This paper focuses on efficiency of simulation experimentation for optimization. We introduce a framework for combining the statistical efficiency of simulation optimization techniques with the effectiveness of parallel execution algorithms. In particular, a novel simulation sampling procedure, the Optimal Computing Budget Allocation (OCBA) algorithm, is implemented in a web-based environment for low-cost parallel and distributed simulation experimentation. A new software tool for the automatic detection and monitoring of plumes caused by major industrial accidents is described. This tool has been designed in order to use, near real time information as provided by satellite images, perform sophisticated image analysis and elaborate a user-friendly operational environment for the detection of plumes caused by major industrial accidents. The methodology, based on NOAA/AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) imagery, uses a two-dimensional feature space in order to discriminate pixels that contain plumes from those that correspond to clouds or to the underlying surface. The two-dimensional feature space is generated by combining AVHRR channels 1(visible), 2 (near infrared) and 5 (thermal infrared). The software tool proposed has been coded in java2 language, using the concepts of interoperability and object-oriented programming. This study demonstrates the applicability of the tool for the detection of a plume caused by a massive explosion in a firework factory in Enschede, The Netherlands, on May 13, 2000. The effectiveness and reliability of the software tool was found to be satisfactory, as plume was automatically detected and discriminated from the underlying surface. (C) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. As power supply company carries out work to optimize the business environment, much problems such as asymmetric information about electricity consumption of electricity users, poor professional interaction channels and low work efficiency have emerged while the level of power supply services has been improved. Relying on the Internet of Things (IoT) platform of power supply company, open graphic library (OpenGL) technology, Activiti engine and java programming technology and other mature technologies, a set of graphical workflow configuration platform has been built to support the customization of the electricity users. The platform graphically implements the construction of power business workflow, using drag-anddrop components and model-driven logic to create front-end web and mobile applications. The workflow platform conducts compliance audit during workflow configuration, keeps business information strictly outside the negative list, and each work is automatically initiated, executed and associated to abstract behaviours with high application rate and comprehensiveness based on rich and diverse work scenarios to meet the needs of Beibei power supply company.
