Software developers are always looking for ways to boost their effectiveness and productivity and perform complex jobs more quickly and easily, particularly as projects have become increasingly large and complex. Programmers want to shed unneeded complexity and outdated methodologies and move to approaches that focus on making programming simpler and faster. With this in mind, many developers are increasingly using dynamic languages such as javascript, Perl, Python, and Ruby. Although software experts disagree on the exact definition, a dynamic language basically enables programs that can change their code and logical structures at runtime, adding variable types, module names, classes, and functions as they are running. The relationship between occupational stress and job satisfaction in orthodontics

The goal of this project was to describe the relationship between overall occupational stress (OS), categories of stressors, overall job satisfaction (JS), and facets of JS in orthodontics. Canadian orthodontists were mailed an anonymous, self-administered survey. The response rate was 51.2% (335 of 654). The survey included a list of 67 potential stressors representing 6 categories, an overall OS score, and a modified version of the Dentists Satisfaction Survey (DSS). The correlation between the overall OS score and the overall JS scale of the DSS was r = -0.392. The overall OS scores were most strongly correlated to satisfaction with personal time (r = -0.385, P < .01) and satisfaction with practice management (r = -0.334, P < .01). Work-related stressors (r = -0.301, P < .01) and income-related stressors (r = -0.268, P < .01) were the categories with the highest correlation to the overall JS scale. Orthodontists reporting low OS had significantly higher satisfaction scores on all sections of the DSS. This difference was greatest in satisfaction with personal time and practice management. The results indicate the importance of OS in determining JS in orthodontics.

We present Vamonos: a new framework for algorithm visualization, designed from the beginning to support embedding, interaction, and unlimited scope. Visualizations are executed entirely client-side on any device that supports a modern web browser;they can be embedded into any website or online textbook. Users can specify breakpoints, watched variables, provide inputs to the algorithm (e.g., by drawing a graph using a mouse), and be prompted for interaction by the visualization. The core framework supports any algorithms and data structures that can be implemented in javascript. We have implemented a wide range of visualizations of advanced algorithms topics, including dynamic programming and graph algorithms (e.g., spanning tree, max-flow, bipartite matching algorithms).

Biodiversity "surpluses" and "deficits" are not novel issues

Jackson and Sax (JS,) provided a conceptual framework to analyze biodiversity dynamics after environmental change. They discuss transients caused by lags in extinction and immigration, rightly seen as of major importance for the future of biodiversity. Borrowing terms from accountancy, they discuss concepts such as \"extinction debts\", \"immigration credits\", \"biodiversity surpluses\" and \"biodiversity deficits\". For example, when time scales of immigration and extinction differ, temporary biodiversity surpluses or deficits may arise. Accidentally, JS overlooked my earlier work covering much of the same ground. This work also corroborates, and adds to, the mainly conceptually oriented approach of JS by using an explicit evolution-based mechanistic model. Thereby it fulfills some of their expressed needs for further research and helps with the understanding and prediction of the kinds of transient dynamics JS discuss.

The results of practical testing of previously proposed by the authors of the concept of constructing planar field emission structures based on the use of nanoscale diamond-like carbon film are presented. The complex of electrophysical and operational parameters of developed and manufactured multi-electrode cathode-grid assemblies is investigated - current-voltage characteristics;the level of average density of field-emission current J(S), acceptable for long-term and stable operation of the unit for 1-8 thousand hours;the level of working potentials;the efficiency of the electron beam transport to the anode (93-99 %). We analyze ways to improve J(S) to 0.5 ***(-2) without compromising the durability.

In this paper we decide to study a some of Non Uniform Sampling (NUS) schemes particulary its random processes schemes;jittered random sampling(JS) and the additive random sampling (ARS) and and its application for a RF bandpass sampling receiver. These techniques sampling has desirable alias suppression properties. First, effects of jittered and additive random sampling to suppress aliasing artifacts are detailed. Then, we propose a Robust RF bandpass sampling receiver using NUS schemes. Finally, performance of JS and ARS schemes on reconsntruction SNR for bandpass signals are compared. Simulation results give that JS with uniform distribution is the robusted technique on the terme of SNR.

Cognitive radio (CR) technology enables the opportunistic use of a portion of the licensed spectrum by CR users, while ensuring low interference to the primary user activity in a licensed band. It is very crucial for the CR user to rendezvous with another user on a certain channel and establish a communication link. The main focus of this paper is to design such an algorithm for blind rendezvous, i.e. rendezvous without any coordinator or common control channel, as is the case with jump-and-stay (JS) algorithm. Channels to jump have been assumed to be homogeneous in prior work;however, in the real world, channels exhibit different conditions. Therefore, by extending the JS algorithm, we designed an adaptive jumping pattern such that a better channel is jumped more often and users have a higher possibility to rendezvous on such a channel. Moreover, when multiple radio interfaces are available for CR users, the possibility of rendezvous increases but the number of channels to jump for each interface might not be the same as other users' interfaces. Consequently, we propose an enhanced adaptive rendezvous (EAR) algorithm that can work for multiple interfaces and different sizes of the channel list, and an adaptive jumping pattern for different channel conditions. Through extensive simulation, EAR is verified to work for these environments and further reduce the time-to-rendezvous compared to JS.

An investigation of cross-national differences in positivity and job satisfaction

The present research examined the role of national differences in positivity as an explanation of cross-national variation in job satisfaction (JS) ratings. National positivity values were derived from a sample of current employees by calculating the mean residual in a regression of global JS on mean facet satisfaction ratings. As predicted, the positivity values derived in the present research showed convergent validity with other indices of nation-level positivity, and national differences in extraversion. National differences in positivity showed significant incremental associations with national differences in JS ratings after controlling for the effects of acquiescence, perceived differences in working conditions, and national development. Theoretical and practical implications of the results are discussed.

MapReduce is a distributed processing algorithm which breaks up large problem sets into small pieces, such that a large cluster of computers can work on those small pieces in an efficient, timely manner. MapReduce was created and popularized by Google, and is widely used as a means of processing large amounts of textual data for the purpose of indexing it for search later on. This paper examines the feasibility of using smart mobile devices in a MapReduce system by exploring several areas, including quantifying the contribution they make to computation throughput, end-user participation, power consumption, and security. The proposed MapReduce System over Heterogeneous Mobile Devices consists of three key components: a server component that coordinates and aggregates results, a mobile device client for iPhone, and a traditional client for reference and to obtain baseline data. A prototypical research implementation demonstrates that it is indeed feasible to leverage smart mobile devices in heterogeneous MapReduce systems, provided certain conditions are understood and accepted. MapReduce systems could see sizable gains of processing throughput by incorporating as many mobile devices as possible in such a heterogeneous environment. Considering the massive number of such devices available and in active use today, this is a reasonably attainable goal and represents an exciting area of study. This paper introduces relevant background material, discusses related work, describes the proposed system, explains obtained results, and finally, discusses topics for further research in this area.
