In this paper we investigate whether providing feedback to learners within an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) helps them write correct programs. Here, we use two approaches: feedback based on stack trace analysis, and feedback based on structural comparisons of a learner program and appropriate sample programs. In order to investigate both approaches, we developed two prototypical extensions for the Eclipse IDE. In a laboratory study, we empirically evaluated the impact of the extensions on learners' performance while they solved programming tasks. The statistical analyses did not reveal any statistically significant effects of the prototype extensions on the performance of the learners, however, the results of a qualitative analysis imply that the provided feedback had at least a marginal impact on the performance of some learners. Also, feedback from the participants confirmed the benefit of providing feedback directly within IDEs.

One of the original goals of intelligent educational systems is to guide every student to the most appropriate educational content. Exploring both knowledge-based and social guidance approaches in past work, we learned that each of these approaches has weak sides. In this paper we follow the idea of combining social guidance with more traditional knowledge-based guidance to support more optimal content navigation. We proposed a greedy sequencing approach that maximizes student's level of knowledge and tested it in a classroom. Results indicated that this approach positively impacts students' navigation.

The field of domestic electricity usage management and optimization is one of the most influential nowadays, and in many countries around the world it has started to be part of governmental concerns. The idea that, by using technology, not only can we reduce our energy consumption but also contribute to our neighborhood or city's energy generation effort is very appealing. However, the solution needs to be commercially sustainable by making use of components that are cheap, easy to integrate and operate. Moreover, the implementation of what is now commonly called Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS), requires a complete integration of wireless network technologies on one hand, and communication and control mechanisms on the other hand. In this paper, we present our approach for the integration of the two technologies introduced above, ZigBee for the wireless networking part and a combination of java-based technologies for the communication and control.

Chaotic phenomenon widely exists in the nonlinear dynamic systems. Such phenomenon is described to be highly related the initial conditions and intrinsic system properties. Traditionally, large effort has been put on evaluation of the existence of chaos, such as Lyapunov exponent or power spectrum methods. In addition, iteration methods are usually employed to explore the states of system. In this work, we will study the chaotic system in a different point of view. The system properties of physics quantities will be considered firstly. Starting from these physics quantities, it is expected to potentially determine the final states of the system. Then a relationship between the initial conditions and final states will be established. The objective of this work is to preliminary study the feasibility of employing such method for predetermine the final state of reappear initial conditions. The main approach is building a strong relationship between each initial conditions and final states within limited computation. Once the relationship is established, we could know the system states distribution and achieve the exploitation on the system. In this work, we will focus on the deterministic chaotic systems that the final states are deterministic and non- periodic. In order to perform the proof-of-concept, a typical chaotic system, the magnetic pendulum system, will be employed for demonstration. A program written in java will display the pendulum movement in real-time and also the basin diagram that shows the relationship between initial conditions and final states. All of code for this program are constructed from scratch. After the implementation of our program, we will compare results from it and that of the separate numerical simulation of the same system. The numerical simulation will be performed through the commercially available software Mathematica. Further investigation will also be discussed with the results from numerical simulation. Automated programming assessment systems (APAS) are useful supporting tools adopted in novice programming courses. They allow educators to reduce the amount of work required for homework assessment as well as students to have feedback and correct their code. In this study, we analyzed students' learning behavior from an APAS, called ProgEdu, which provides an iterative learning environment for object-oriented programming courses. Answers to research questions are obtained by mean of a quantitative research. Analysis results showed that all expectations about the system effectiveness are satisfied: 1) almost students agree with the assessment method and feedback given by the system;2) iterative learning is helpful in improving students' programming skill;3) and it facilitates students to pay more attention to code quality. This study also points out issues of the current system and propose suggestions to improve system performance. © 2020 ACM.

This project aims at designing and developing a new approach towards Interactive Distance Learning to provide distance education in both asynchronous and synchronous modes. Various tools are embedded to meet the needs of both instructors and students. In asynchronous mode the interactive tools like Online Message Boards, Online Quizzes, Online exams, Online Course Registration, Online Grades Tool, Assignments, and Course-notes provide education effectively even when the instructors and the students do not participate at the same time. In synchronous mode interactive tools like Online Discussion Groups, Online Students Feedback tool and Microsoft NetMeeting provide education effectively when both the students and the instructors participate simultaneously. It also consists of effective tools which enable both the administrators as well as the instructors to update the respective databases making the tool more effective. This approach provides immediacy of interaction between the instructors and the students such as immediate feedback from the students to the instructor and immediate attention of the instructor to the students. It promotes active learning and student intellectual involvement, students also learn Internet skills that improve employment options after graduation. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)

Mobile technology evolution and mobile based education are highly needed for academic system. Especially designing a physical antenna is a tough task so that Simulation solution has been used in the laboratory. Even though it is costlier and it could be used only in LAN based computers for an academic purpose but not used in outside. To be clear, the designing of an antenna with institution studies are needed. To overcome and achieve the objective of the paper which proposes to develop a mobile based designing antennas such as Dipole, Loop antennas. The performances of antenna have been carried out in mobile platform. This is an attempt to predict parameters of specified antenna in the android platform. Through this application the students could able to predetermine the characteristic of specified antenna easily. This application will be highly useful and recommended to the students. The proposed work has been designed by Eclipse software and Android studio software. Finally the performance of the antenna parameters has been carried with the help of Android-Antenna Tool (AAT).
