The module pattern in javascript is commonly used to encapsulate definitions by using closures. However, closures prevent module definitions from being extended at runtime. We propose a simple pattern that not only opens the module, but allows one to extend the module definitions in layers. The pattern leverages the with construct and the prototype delegation mechanism of javascript to mimick dynamic binding, while minimizing the changes made to the module code. © 2016 ACM.

With an initial motivation based on the security of web applications written in javascript, we consider the instrumentation of an interpreter for a dynamic analysis as a crosscutting concern. We define the instrumentation problem - an extension to the expression problem with a focus on modifying interpreters. We then illustrate how we can instrument an interpreter for a simple language using only the bare language features provided by javascript.

javascript is a ubiquitous programming language with usage in web, mobile applications and server software. The status of the language as the de-facto programming language of the web has made the language ecosystem advanced with a great number of userspace libraries and major companies working on efficient runtime systems. The core language, however, has numerous known difficulties caused by the initial design and persisted by the requirements for backwards-compatibility. In the last decade, a number of programming languages have chosen javascript as the compile target of the language. Type theory and its application, programming language type systems, is an essential area of study in the design of programming languages. Every high-level programming language features a type system that greatly influences the ways of designing and implementing programs in the language. This thesis examines a group of selected statically-typed programming languages that compile to javascript. The core topics of research in this thesis are the motivation for new JS-compiled languages, the type system design of the languages, and the future direction of the javascript ecosystem based on the current trends and parallels to other programming ecosystems. The results of the work include identifying several trends in type systems for the JS ecosystem and the web. These include unsound yet convenient partially inferred type systems for object-oriented and multi-paradigm programming and fully inferred extended Hindley-Milner type systems for primarily functional programming languages. Additionally, different options for the advancement of the programming ecosystem, including type annotations, inference of dynamically typed languages and new compile targets, are explored. Finally, based on the design choices of the languages researched, we provide several recommendations for safe and productive statically typed programming in the javascript ecosystem.

The World Wide Web, shortly named the web in the following context, is the most popular service on the Internet. At first, the web is just built for information exchange. As many web related technologies grow, we can communicate with each other, finish daily works and execute many other complicated applications on the web. The javascript is the main programming language and computational engine in the front end of the web. Originally, this scripting language is only for simple and small programs which provide more interactive interface for end users. But in the current decade, Ajax (Asynchronized javascript and XML) technology which is extended from javascript leads the web to the whole new world. Today, many large web applications based on Ajax technology are published. The most famous one of them is Google Online Office which has similar functions compared to traditional Microsoft Office but based on the web technologies. Because the web is not only the platform for information exchange but also the computational platform based on javascript engine, every computer having installed modern browser on the Internet can easily access the web and execute some javascript programs. Under above conditions, we develop a distributed computing system based on the web and javascript technologies. Our system plays an intermediary role between the IT expert who has to solve large-scale computational problem and end users on the Internet. In the other words, people could easily cooperate with each other to finish complicated computational problem through the support of our system.

针对混淆恶意javascript代码很难被检测以及很难被反混淆的问题,深入分析了混淆javascript代码的外部静态行为特征和内部动态运行特征.提出一种检测混淆与反混淆方法,设计并实现了一个原型系统.系统通过静态分析检测混淆,通过动态分析进行反混淆.静态分析只使用正常行为数据进行训练,采用主成分分析(PCA)、单分类支持向量机(One Class SVM)和最近邻(K-NN)算法检测混淆.动态分析分为两个步骤:首先遍历混淆代码抽象语法树(Abstract Syntax Tree)的节点;其次根据节点类型跟踪并分析节点上的相关变量,利用相关的变量终值进行反混淆.从真实环境中收集了总数为80 574条javascript正常与混淆恶意代码用于测试.大量的实验结果表明,在选用主成分分析算法时,在误报率为0.1%时,系统对混淆恶意javascript代码的检测率能达到99.90%.与此同时,文中提出的反混淆方法对超过80%的混淆代码能进行有效反混淆.
