Sizing and Shape Optimization of Discrete Truss Employing a Target-Oriented krill herd algorithm

The krill herd (KH) algorithm is widely used for optimizing truss structures as no gradient information is necessary, and only a few parameters require adjustment. However, when the truss structure becomes discrete and complex, KH tends to fall into a local optimum. Therefore, a novel target-oriented KH (TOKH) algorithm is proposed in this study to optimize the design of discrete truss structures. Initially, a crossover operator is established between the "best krill" and "suboptimal krill" to generate a robust "cross krill" for global exploration. Additionally, an improved local mutation and crossover (ILMC) operator is introduced to fine-tune the "center of food" and candidate solutions for local exploitation. The proposed method and other optimization approaches are experimentally compared considering 15 benchmark functions. Then, the performance of the TOKH algorithm is evaluated based on four discrete truss structure optimization problems under multiple loading conditions. The obtained optimization results indicate that the proposed method presents competitive solutions in terms of accuracy, unlike other algorithms in the literature, and avoids falling into a local minimum. Resource Allocation Based on Improved krill herd algorithm in Cloud Computing

Resource allocation acts an important role in cloud computing. Traditional resource allocation methods have time-consuming, expensive and low efficiency disadvantages. Therefore, we propose an improved hill herd algorithm for resource allocation in cloud computing. Firstly, the status of cloud computing resource allocation is analyzed. Then, in order to prevent krill herd falling into local solution, we introduce random perturbation factor to improve the induction movement and foraging movement of krill herd. Finally, the experiments results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the system resource utilization, the allocation performance is better than other cloud computing resource allocation methods.

The aim of economic dispatch (ED) problem is to provide an efficient utilization of energy resources to produce economic and secure operating conditions for the planning and operation of a power system. ED is formed as a nonlinear optimization problem with conflicting objectives and subjected to both inequality and equality constraints. An efficient improvement of krill herd (KH) algorithm, a powerful metaheuristic method, has been introduced in this paper. The KH algorithm inspired by the Lagrangian and evolutionary behaviour of the krill people in nature, has been investigated to solve ED problem on 6, 13, 20 and 40 generating units. The proposed chaotic krill herd (CKH)) improvement is done by incorporating the chaos approach to KH algorithm for raising the global convergence speed and for enhancing its performance. The elitism scheme serves to save the best krill during the procedure when updating the krill. The results show clearly the superiority of CKH in searching for the best cost value results when compared with well-known metaheuristic search algorithms.

In order to solve the problem that the krill herd(KH)algorithm is premature due to the decrease of population diversity,a new hybrid vortex search KH(VSKH)algorithm has been developed to deal with the global optimization *** improvement is that a new hybrid vortex search(HVS)operator is added into the updating process of the krill for the purpose of dealing with optimization problems more *** 20 benchmark functions for comparison experiments,the results show that the VSKH algorithm has higher accuracy.

The existing transmission lines may be replaced by DC links for constructing the lines more secure, economical and flexible. Thereby, in the present article, a DC link placement problem through the DC link equations with the conventional optimal power flow prospect is studied by using a new optimization technique called chaotic krill herd algorithm (CKHA). Sequential NR based AC/DC load flow method is being taken to solve this problem. The proposed CKHA algorithm is tested on the IEEE 30-bus test system. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is evaluated with some similar nature based evolutionary optimization techniques. The results of this work show that the proposed technique is very much effective to the stated problems.

An attempt has been made in this article for effective solution of load frequency control (LFC) problem in an interconnected power system using a meta-heuristic optimization technique, called oppositional krill herd algorithm (OKHA). krill herd algorithm (KHA) is simply mimics the life cycle of krill in an oceans and designed based on the solution of herding behavior of individual krill. A two-area multi-unit all hydro power plants equipped with a classical integral controller is considered for design and analysis. The interconnected hydro-hydro power plant is inherently anunstable system due the non-minimum phase characteristic of hydro turbine Thus to retrieve the stability, different frequency stabilizers like superconducting magnetic energy storage, thyristor controlled phase shifter,and static synchronous series compensator in coordination with LFCare intended using OKHA paying integral square error based fitness function. Time domain simulationresults obtained with OKHAare compared with original KHA and some recently published optimization schemes for the similar test system. Additionally, the robustness of the designed controller is validated by investigating the dynamic responses of test system with random load perturbation. Simulation results confirmed that OKHA outperforms other optimization techniques in terms of solution quality and computational efficiency.

This paper presents bio-inspired new krill herd (KH) algorithm for solving combined heat and power economic dispatch (CHPED) optimization task. This algorithm is based on the herding behavior of krill individuals and is very efficient in finding the global optima in shortest possible time. The objective function is defined as the distance of each krill individual from food and the highest density of herd. At any instant, position of a krill individual is dependent on 1) motion induced by surrounding krill, 2) foraging motion of it and 3) its diffusion motion. The algorithm has been illustrated simulating on a test system and the result has been compared with those obtained from particle swarm optimization (PSO), evolutionary programming (EP) and differential evolution (DE). The comparison shows that the solution obtained by this KH method is of better quality than other methods.

Image segmentation is a primary work for machine vi(1) sion and Fuzzy C -Means (FCM) clustering algorithm is one of the commonest methods. However, FCM is sensitive to the initial clustering center and easily falls into the local optimum solution, while the krill herd (KH) algorithm has strong global convergence and high stability. As a result, this paper proposes an image segmentation method based on improved krill herd algorithm and FCM (IKH-FCM). First of all, the method uses the K-Means algorithm to initialize the initial population of the krill herd, the improved KH algorithm is used to calculate the initial clustering center of FCM, and then FCM clustering is applied to implement image segmentation. Experiments show that the approach has strong global convergence and high stability compared to the original FCM, which is a favorable image segmentation approach for practical work

In order to make the Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) system operate safely and efficiently in dynamic environment, the multi-period reliable network design of 4PL with consideration of random disruptions is studied. A mathematical model is formulated, which maximizes the reliability of the 4PL system subjective to investment cost. Based on the NP-hard characteristic of the problem, the krill herd algorithm (KHA) and Artificial Fish Swarm algorithm (AFSA) are presented and the performance of the algorithm is tested by simulation examples. According to the simulation of MATLAB, the KHA performs better in effectiveness and stability than the AFSA. Decision makers can invest in redundant resources to improve the reliability of the 4PL network considering the investment cost constraint.
