The use of a MIMO array in a small handset often affects system performance due to mutualcoupling between the elements. This has motivated many researchers to conduct extensive studies on the effects of mutualcoupling, and to optimize the impedance matchingconditions to increase the channelcapacity. However, there has been little study on enhancing channelcapacity using a practical impedance matchingcircuit that can be used in a MIMO array installed in a commercial handset. In addition, in studying the matchingcircuit, we must consider the wideband characteristics since the plan for future cellular systems is that they are to be allocated a very wide frequency band, such as the lTE-advanced system. This paper studies the impact of a matchingcircuit of a dipole array constructed from practicall/cbasedcircuit components on channelcapacity over a wide frequency band.
