System identification is an important area in signal processing research. It aims to retrieve the system's unknown specifications from its output only. This technology has a wide variety of applications in engineering and control, industries, as well as medical fields. Typically, the identification of models expressed as mathematical equations. Linear, Non-Linear, Non parametric and Hybrid models are few deciding factors on which different techniques for System Identification relies on. In this paper, we discuss in detail the lms algorithm and Nlms algorithm. In particular, various types of norms are included in lms algorithm and the Nlms algorithm is modified according to the norms. Considering different norms in lms algorithm we have analyzed the application of System identification. Also, it has been verified for both linear and non-linear models. Finally, for non-linear system identification based on Wilcoxon norm has been proposed. The results as well as the comparison show that the Wilcoxon norm is one of the better norms than others and is applied for System identification. The results show its efficacy.

For the improvement power quality in the three phase four wire distribution system;a star-delta transformer based dynamic static compensator (DSTATCOM) has been proposed. The proposed hybrid three phase four DSTATCOM (3P4W DSTATCOM) is comprising of AC power capacitor;three phase three wire dynamic static compensator (3P3W DSTATCOM);a star delta transformer and a single phase neutral line compensator. A control scheme based on least mean square algorithm is used for reference current estimation. The star delta transformer and single phase neutral line compensator are used to mitigate the neutral current. This hybrid approach reduces the rating of the semi-conductor switches of 3P4W DSTATCOM and improves the performance under different utility voltage conditions. To study performance of the proposed system extensive MATLAB/Simulink computer simulation is carried out.

In this paper direct design of Generalized B-spline filters has been presented. It has been shown how to choose filter parameters to meet the desired specifications. These filters exhibit maximally flat magnitude response and low side lobe energy as compared to Kaiser Window filter. Also a new type of adaptive B-spline filter has been developed in this paper. The application of the proposed filters for hybrid echo cancellation on digital cellular has been extensively studied. Results reveal the suitability of the proposed filters for such applications. This filter minimizes the mean square error using proportionate adaptive lms algorithm. The proposed adaptive filter makes a perfect estimate of the hybrid echo.

There are many industrial environments which are exposed to a high-level noise, sometimes much higher than the level of speech. Verbal communication is then practically unfeasible. In order to increase the speech intelligibility, appropriate speech enhancement algorithms can be used. It is impossible to filter off the noise completely from the acquired signal by using a conventional filter, because of two reasons. First, the speech and the noise frequency contents are overlapping. Second, the noise properties are subject to change. The adaptive realisation of the Wiener-based approach can be, however, applied. Two structures are possible. One is the line enhancer, where the predictive realisation of the Wiener approach is used. The benefit of using this structure it that it does not require additional apparatus. The second structure takes advantage of the high level of noise. Under such condition, placing another microphone, even close to the primary one, can provide a reference signal well correlated with the noise disturbing the speech and lacking the information about the speech. Then, the classical Wiener filter can be used, to produce an estimate of the noise based on the reference signal. That noise estimate can be then subtracted from the disturbed speech. Both algorithms are verified, based on the data obtained from the real industrial environment. For laboratory experiments the GRAS. artificial head and two microphones, one at back side of an earplug and another at the mouth are used.

One of the research focuses on the least mean square (lms) algorithm is how to design the variable step-size rule to make the lms algorithm converge ratio and steady-state error. The step-size is relatively large in its early stages;that is, the algorithm at this stage converges quickly;when the algorithm tends to a steady-state, the step-size is relatively small, that is. It is at this stage that the steady-state estimation error is relatively tiny. Therefore, looking at it as a whole, the algorithm can converge quickly with lower steady-state errors. Therefore, this paper designs a new step-size rule based on the Sigmoid function and theoretically analyzes the convergence characteristics and steady-state performance. Experiments and simulation comparisons are carried out under the conditions of comparison. The theoretical analysis combined with experimental simulation verification: even if the linear system has a sudden change, this algorithm still has a faster convergence ratio and tracking speed and can obtain minor steady-state errors and steady-state offsets. In allusion to the multi-channel adaptive filtering feedforward control demand of structure vibration, this article focuses on the real-time identification method and experimental research of controlled channel in adaptive feedforward control, by taking flexible piezoelectric smart structure as test's model. Minimum square algorithm is used unified in real-time identification and control issues, also the channel model identification methods and the implementation of structural plans are given;A control system, including PC and monitoring template(including vc33dsp), is used in the controlled channel model's real-time identification;In this foundation, active vibration control test of piezoelectric smart structure is carried out, and the good results indicate that the controlled channel model's identification method is correct and feasible.

In power systems the primary requirement is to find a rigorous approach to suppress the harmonics and ultimately extract the fundamental frequency component. The method presented enables the FIR filter design satisfying specific frequency characteristics with auxiliary constraints. The job of design is converted to an optimization problem with the constraint using standard mean square criterion. The strategy behind detection is to optimize the destined constraint function and to minimize the mean square error. The performance of the advised technique is compared with that of lms and linear optimal filters. Experimental results both in ideal and noisy condition associated with the three methods are given.

In this paper, a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) control system which is used in the multiple degree-of-freedom (DOF) giant magnetostrictive smart structure (GMSS) is proposed. The control system includes two parts - DSP Card and analog circuit through which DSP Card can get the detection signal and output control signal to giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA). A adaptive least mean-square (lms) control algorithm is embedded in DSP Card's Flash Memory for controlling GMSS to weaken the micro-vibration outside. Work flow and control approach of the GMSS with the DSP control system are introduced. The experiment results indicate that the DSP control system in this paper has better control precision and real-time property, and the damping effect is up to 20-30 dB.
