The paper use a finite-impulse-response (FIR) filter for online adaptive modeling, and a least-mean-square (lms) algorithm to minimize the output error between the monitored system and the FIR filter in the modeling process. By analyzing the resulting adaptive FIR filter coefficients, we extract information about fault occurrence. We apply this method to detecting faults of the control subsystem of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), and evaluating the performance with actuator or sensor failures. Simulation results show that the method is simple and effective in fault detection.

Following a brief discussion on basic lms algorithms, the Elms algorithms with steady small MSE is introduced. The new algorithm using the adaptive Nlms signal-estimator to predict the signal s(k). Forgetting factor λi and error signal are used to control the step size update for iteration. Theoretic analysis and computer simulations demonstrate that the presented algorithm has good performance both in convergence properties and steady small misadjustment.

Sound source localization and tracking has turned to be one of hotspots in acoustic signal processing area in recent years. It is widely adopted in a lot of applications, such as multimedia conference, intelligent robot, speech enhancement, etc. Adaptive Eigenvalue Deposition algorithm (AEDA) is one of the effective methods for its robustness performance of noise and reverberation. However, AEDA is suffered from its slowness in tracking variation of time delay of arrival (TDOA) as well as its sensitivity to initial value. Faced with such problems, a Modified Adaptive Eigenvalue Decomposition algorithm (MAEDA) for time delay estimation is proposed, based on which an emulation system is developed. Experimental results show that the proposed new algorithm works well in sound source location and moving sound source tracking, meanwhile, it overcomes the drawbacks of the traditional AEDA algorithm.

The proposed hybrid three phase four DSTATCOM (3P4W DSTATCOM) is comprising of AC power capacitor;three phase three wire dynamic static compensator (3P3W DSTATCOM);a stardelta transformer and a single phase neutral line compensator. A control scheme based on least mean square algorithm is used for reference current estimation. The stardelta transformer and single phase neutral line compensator are used to mitigate the neutral current This hybrid approach reduces the rating of the semi-conductor switches of 3P4W DSTATCOM and improves the performance under different utility voltage conditions. Automated detection of abnormalities in human body is a critical application medical image computing. Preprocessing of medical image is of great need as the image quality of the captured images is highly attenuated due to several factors. In this work, we propose a novel idea of using the concepts of adaptive processing (lms algorithm) for the estimation of clip limit for CLAHE. Statistical metrics like AMBE and PSNR are used for optimum window size selection for CLAHE. The algorithm proposed in this paper has been implemented on TMS320C6713T DSP for real time application and 60 images from STARE, DDSM and OASIS databases have been tested and analyzed. All the tested images show a better result in terms of SSIM index.

This paper describes a single channel, full-duplex wireless communication system that can receive and transmit at the same frequency band in the same time. Recent researches have proved the feasibility of full duplex wireless communication in practice, by canceling the self-interference signal to obtain the desired signal. In this paper, we propose an adaptive digital self-interference cancellation technique, which combines with existing antenna separation and balun based cancellation to achieve the quantity of self-interference cancellation needed for full-duplex system. An adaptive filter based on least mean square (lms) algorithm is applied to track amplitude and phase variations to produce an expected cancellation signal, after the initial delay and frequency offsets are compensated. Our simulation results display that the adaptive digital interference cancellation scheme has fairly desirable self-interference signal cancellation performance.

This paper presents and investigates recursive order tracking (OT) techniques based on the least mean-square (lms) method and the Vold-Kalman (VK) algorithm with a one pole structural equation, both of which could be realized as real-time applications. Additionally, for comparisons, two common adaptive OT filters are considered: the recursive least-squares (RLS) method and the VK algorithm with a two pole structural equation. The numerical implementations of the considered methods, through simulations on a representative noisy synthetic signal, including both close and crossing orders spectral components, are performed. The results indicate a possible degradation in the tracking performance of the RLS algorithm and the effectiveness of the simple lms method, as well as both considered VK algorithms, for OT and distinguishing. The influence of the sampling frequency on the choosing of a weighting factor for the VK recursive OT filters is further investigated to extend the guidelines from the literature for using these methods. Two examples of practical implementations of the considered recursive OT methods are given: (i) the separation of the crossing orders arising in the laboratory test bench of the two unbalanced rotors rotating at independent frequencies and (ii) the one engineering application of fault diagnosis in the massive reduction gear on an excavator with a cable crowd, based on the distinguishing and separation of close orders. The experimental results justify the implementation of the proposed techniques as OT tools in industrial applications.
