Stepper motors are used for many applications in industries and robotics where precise control of motor position is essential. The is paper presents the implementation of position control of a Stepper motor using LabVIEW. Half step and Full step mode of stepper motor control is performed and tested for different position angles. The test results show that half step mode makes an angle of 0.9 per step (400 steps), whereas full step makes 1.8 per step (200 steps). With LabVIEW, the system has friendly interface, good control effect and easy control in both the directions.

A method and apparatus for monitoring the frequency spectra of the Bragg gratings & operating of serial port electronic security lock is designed for the purpose of personal identification. An encoded card having multiple fiber Bragg gratings are used to reflect a frequency spectrum. A program code is written in LabView to read the exact values of the central wavelengths of multiple reflected spectrums and to authenticate these values with already stored dedicated data in the memory for personal identification to determine if electrical signal is generated for operating the serial port operated electronic lock or not. All the experimental setup is programmed in LabView to have a graphical user interface to make it more convenient to use.

With increasing interest in renewable energies, large amounts of money and effort have been put into research and development for photovoltaic systems. The larger interest in PV systems has increased demand for appropriate equipment to test PV systems and for teaching and training the next generation of workers for the sector. A photovoltaic emulator is a device that satisfies a portion of these needs. A photovoltaic (PV) emulator was created using a programmable DC power supply and a developed GUI using Labview. The photovoltaic emulator provides the same current and voltage characteristics as any desired PV panel under various sets of environmental conditions. A PV emulator allows the remaining system to be analyzed in a controlled environment with control over the inherent variability of outside temperature and weather conditions and allows repeatable conditions to test PV equipment such as inverters and MPPT algorithms. The emulator provides an ideal tool and environment for both teaching and research at the University level without the costly investment of a set of commercial PV emulators. An existing power supply that can be used for a variety of other purposes is controlled via Labview to emulate a photovoltaic panel. The power supply can provide an open circuit voltage of 60V and short circuit current of 9A, such that any panel with parameters within this range may be emulated. Thus an extensive variety of panels may be emulated and the majority of panels from the Sandia database are within the capabilities of the available power supply.

This paper suggests a generic simulation platform that can be used for real-time discrete event simulation modeling. The architecture of the proposed system is based on a tested flexible input data architecture developed in Labview, a real-time inter-process communication module between the Labview application and a discrete event simulation software (in this case Arena). Two example applications in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors are provided to demonstrate the ease of adaptability to such physical system.

A microgrid is an energy subsystem composed of generation units, energy storage, and loads that requires power management in order to supply the load properly according to defined objectives. This paper proposes an online energy management system for a storage based grid-connected microgrid that feeds a critical load. The optimization problem aims to minimize the operating cost while maximizing the power provided by the renewable energy sources. The power references for the distributed energy resources (DER) are scheduled by using CPLEX solver which uses as input current measurements, stored data and adjusted weather forecast data previously scaled in each iteration considering the current status. The proposed structure is tested in a real time simulation platform (dSPACE 1006) for the microgrid model, by using Labview to data acquisition and Matlab to implement the energy management system. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed energy management system for different initial conditions of the storage system.

This paper puts forward power measurement of harmonic signal by using an efficient algorithm. The obscure power segments and other power quality lists are estimated by definitions in the IEEE Standard 1459-2000. Spectrum of harmonic voltage and current signals are estimated independently, further the computations are made. Both PC reproductions and research center testing are finished looking at the proficiency (efficiency) of the proposed calculation. The real signals from Chroma programming are inputted through the Data Acquisition (DAQ) card and the results of the algorithm are viewed in LabVIEW. This algorithm is accurate and efficient, making it suitable for real-time applications.

This paper proposes the development of an autonomous navigation robot with hand-cleaning service in indoor environments. To navigate in unknown environments and provide service, the robot is with several intelligent behaviors including wall-following, obstacle avoidance, autonomous navigation, and human detection. A laser-sensor-based approach is used in the wall-following and obstacle avoidance behavior controllers. A preliminary map-matching algorithm is applied in the localization strategy of autonomous navigation in which the robot can acquire the current location and then move toward to the target position. In this study a hand-cleaning mechanism is embedded into the robot and the service will activate while a human is recognized within the designated range. The overall robotic system is carried out using a two-wheeled driving mobile robot with LabVIEW as an integration tool. The experimental results demonstrate the practicable application of the proposed approach.

To clarify where the exact position of dynamic welding occurrence is, electrical endurance tests are conducted with AgSnO2, AgNi and AgCdO contacts. Waveforms of contact force, displacement, voltage and current are recorded with Labview during tests, which can make it out whether welding occurs during breaking or making operation. The experimental results shows welding may occur in breaking as well as in making operations, possible mechanism for welding in break is discussed.

Present paper proposes a system for establishing in real time the current geographical positioning with high accuracy. The system is composed by a NI (National Instruments) MyRIO controller equipped with FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and Real time technologies which communicates with a laptop as the host computer and a GPS (Global Positioning System) module. Using an appropriate soft application accomplished in LabVIEW, the GPS data is processed with 10 Hz and having Internet connection, the application may also set the current positioning on Google Earth maps. This is possible by designing shared variables which provide communication in real time between files. The update rate is set to 10Hz. The LabVIEW application can save the GPS data into documents in order the information to be post-processed.
