In order to improve lack of GA, we combined it with case-based reasoning(CBR) and constructing non-isomorphic layout pattern (NILP) to solve layout problem in this paper. Its basic idea includes 2 components: (I) initial population of GA consists of reasoning solutions of current layout problem attained from case database, their NILP solutions and random solutions;(2) For every generation of optimization, a NILP solution of the current best individual is used in replacing the worse one in the population. The experimental results demonstrate good performance of approach in the paper on quality of solution and computational efficiency.

With the help of LBS provided by some social network service provider, people can obtain knowledge and perceive the world around them more conveniently. However, since the contradiction of a large number of POI nodes and the limited displaying space, finding a better layout algorithm to visualize the POI nodes is important for better user experience. This paper presents a new layout algorithm called Virtual layout algorithm, which can solve the problem of the uneven POI nodes distribution and make a better presentation of the geospatial information. We also deployed a microblog LBS visualization system which consists of Virtual layout algorithm, stylized map and location reference frame to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm.

To solve the problem of automatic mapping of single line diagrams in distribution networks, a large amount of manual adjustment is required to meet practical requirements. This article is based on automatic mapping of a distribution network in Yunnan. The system introduces machine learning technology from the big data Spark framework to the single line graph layout algorithm, and conducts application research. Firstly, this paper introduces the automatic mapping system's Technical architecture, explaining the application environment of machine learning technology, proposing the construction of a decision tree machine learning model based on the iterative binary tree 3rd generation (ID3) algorithm. The distribution network data is used as training samples to describe the construction process of the decision tree model. Furthermore, the graph adjusted sample data is used as the training set to train the layout algorithm library. The algorithm for the layout angle of the child devices is related to the parent device. Finally, it validates the machine learning model and layout algorithm using a single line diagram data instance of the distribution network. As a result, after machine learning, the generated single line diagram runs horizontally and vertically, with balanced layering of the station building and a reasonable and beautiful layout effect, which proves big data and machine learning technology and shows the effectiveness of application in automatic layout of single line diagrams. © 2024 IEEE.

Visualising very large phylogenetic trees in three dimensional hyperbolic space

Background: Common existing phylogenetic tree visualisation tools are not able to display readable trees with more than a few thousand nodes. These existing methodologies are based in two dimensional space. Results: We introduce the idea of visualising phylogenetic trees in three dimensional hyperbolic space with the Walrus graph visualisation tool and have developed a conversion tool that enables the conversion of standard phylogenetic tree formats to Walrus' format. With Walrus, it becomes possible to visualise and navigate phylogenetic trees with more than 100,000 nodes. Conclusion: Walrus enables desktop visualisation of very large phylogenetic trees in 3 dimensional hyperbolic space. This application is potentially useful for visualisation of the tree of life and for functional genomics derivatives, like The Adaptive Evolution Database (TAED).

An exploration of alternative visualisations of the basic helix-loop-helix protein interaction network

Background: Alternative representations of biochemical networks emphasise different aspects of the data and contribute to the understanding of complex biological systems. In this study we present a variety of automated methods for visualisation of a protein-protein interaction network, using the basic helix-loop-helix ( bHLH) family of transcription factors as an example. Results: Network representations that arrange nodes ( proteins) according to either continuous or discrete information are investigated, revealing the existence of protein sub-families and the retention of interactions following gene duplication events. Methods of network visualisation in conjunction with a phylogenetic tree are presented, highlighting the evolutionary relationships between proteins, and clarifying the context of network hubs and interaction clusters. Finally, an optimisation technique is used to create a three-dimensional layout of the phylogenetic tree upon which the protein-protein interactions may be projected. Conclusion: We show that by incorporating secondary genomic, functional or phylogenetic information into network visualisation, it is possible to move beyond simple layout algorithms based on network topology towards more biologically meaningful representations. These new visualisations can give structure to complex networks and will greatly help in interpreting their evolutionary origins and functional implications. Three open source software packages (InterView, TVi and OptiMage) implementing our methods are available.

This article is to solve the problems of disordered and complex architectural relationships in IT in the multi-level visualization of the IT system structure, and the relationship is not transparent and intuitive.3D visualization has its unique display advantages. By integrating the visualization concept into the IT architecture management process, Establish a multi-level visualization model of IT system structure, covering from the IT infrastructure level to the system application and business logic level, analyze location attributes, node types, rule attributes and relationship attributes, and present them in a three-dimensional visualization form to make IT internal structural relationships And the relationship between nodes is clear and *** article uses different layout algorithms such as hierarchical layout algorithm, circular distribution algorithm, star layout algorithm, *** to the different characteristics of the number of IT system nodes and node relationships, matching the corresponding layout algorithm makes the multi-level IT system visualization architecture more *** experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can show the IT system structure simply and clearly, and match various complex business relationships more flexibly.

Automatic Fixture Planning

Fixture planning is a crucial problem in the field of fixture design. In this paper, the research scope and research methods of the computer aided fixture planning are presented. Based on positioning principles of typical workparts, an ANN algorithm, namely Hopfield algorithm, is adopted for the automatic fixture planning. Also, this paper leads a deep research into the selection of positioning and clamping surfaces (or points) on workparts using positioning clamping surface selecting rules and matrix evaluation of deterministic workpart positioning. In the end of this paper, the methods to select positioning and clamping elements from database and the layout algorithm to assemble the selected fixture elements into a tangible fixture are developed.

LucidDraw: Efficiently visualizing complex biochemical networks within MATLAB

Background: Biochemical networks play an essential role in systems biology. Rapidly growing network data and versatile research activities call for convenient visualization tools to aid intuitively perceiving abstract structures of networks and gaining insights into the functional implications of networks. There are various kinds of network visualization software, but they are usually not adequate for visual analysis of complex biological networks mainly because of the two reasons: 1) most existing drawing methods suitable for biochemical networks have high computation loads and can hardly achieve near real-time visualization;2) available network visualization tools are designed for working in certain network modeling platforms, so they are not convenient for general analyses due to lack of broader range of readily accessible numerical utilities. Results: We present LucidDraw as a visual analysis tool, which features ( a) speed: typical biological networks with several hundreds of nodes can be drawn in a few seconds through a new layout algorithm;(b) ease of use: working within MATLAB makes it convenient to manipulate and analyze the network data using a broad spectrum of sophisticated numerical functions;(c) flexibility: layout styles and incorporation of other available information about functional modules can be controlled by users with little effort, and the output drawings are interactively modifiable. Conclusions: Equipped with a new grid layout algorithm proposed here, LucidDraw serves as an auxiliary network analysis tool capable of visualizing complex biological networks in near real-time with controllable layout styles and drawing details. The framework of the algorithm enables easy incorporation of extra biological information, if available, to influence the output layouts with predefined node grouping features.

VisANT: an online visualization and analysis tool for biological interaction data

Background: New techniques for determining relationships between biomolecules of all types genes, proteins, noncoding DNA, metabolites and small molecules-are now making a substantial contribution to the widely discussed explosion of facts about the cell. The data generated by these techniques promote a picture of the cell as an interconnected information network, with molecular components linked with one another in topologies that can encode and represent many features of cellular function. This networked view of biology brings the potential for systematic understanding of living molecular systems. Results: We present VisANT, an application for integrating biomolecular interaction data into a cohesive, graphical interface. This software features a multi-tiered architecture for data flexibility, separating back-end modules for data retrieval from a front-end visualization and analysis package. VisANT is a freely available, open-source tool for researchers, and offers an online interface for a large range of published data sets on biomolecular interactions, including those entered by users. This system is integrated with standard databases for organized annotation, including GenBank, KEGG and SwissProt. VisANT is a Java-based, platform-independent tool suitable for a wide range of biological applications, including studies of pathways, gene regulation and systems biology. Conclusion: VisANT has been developed to provide interactive visual mining of biological interaction data sets. The new software provides a general tool for mining and visualizing such data in the context of sequence, pathway, structure, and associated annotations. Interaction and predicted association data can be combined, overlaid, manipulated and analyzed using a variety of built-in functions. VisANT is available at http://***.

Background: Vaccination is one of the most successful public health interventions for the prevention of COVID-19. Toward the end of April 2021, UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund), alongside other organizations, were promoting the hashtag #***: The aim of this paper is to analyze the #VaccinesWork hashtag on Twitter in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, analyzing the main messages shared and the organizations ***: The data set used in this study consists of 11,085 tweets containing the #VaccinesWork hashtag from the 29th to the 30th of April 2021. The data set includes tweets that may not have the hashtag but were replies or mentions in those tweets. The data were retrieved using NodeXL, and the network graph was laid out using the Harel-Koren fast multiscale layout ***: The study found that organizations such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and Gavi were the key opinion leaders and had a big influence on the spread of information among users. Furthermore, the most shared URLs belonged to academic journals with a high impact factor. Provaccination users had other vaccination-promoting hashtags in common, not only in the COVID-19 ***: This study investigated the discussions surrounding the #VaccinesWork hashtag. Social media networks containing conspiracy theories tend to contain dubious accounts leading the discussions and are often linked to unverified information. This kind of analysis can be useful to detect the optimal moment for launching health campaigns on Twitter.
