Development of an Advanced Online Adaptive FOPID Controller Using the Interval Type 2 Fuzzy Neural Network Optimized With the levenberg-marquardt algorithm for a 20-Story Benchmark Building

This paper proposes an innovative control method to reduce the seismic responses of nonlinear structures under the uncertainties of near- and far-field earthquakes. This method is crucial for controlling the seismic response and ensuring structural stability. For this purpose, the robust adaptive FOPID controller is combined with the interval Type 2 fuzzy neural network, whose parameters are optimized through the levenberg-marquardt algorithm. An MLP neural network trained using an error backpropagation algorithm is considered for structural system identification and plant estimation. The Jacobian of the estimated model is applied online to the controller. Also, an adaptive compensator, interval Type 2 fuzzy neural networks, is considered to increase the stability and robustness of the proposed controller against estimation error, seismic disturbances, and some unknown nonlinear functions. The extended Kalman filter with feedback error learning strategy is used to maintain the acceptable performance level in the compensator. The performance effectiveness of the proposed controller equipped with a compensator in reducing seismic responses was investigated on a 20-story benchmark building equipped with an active cable damper, and the evaluation criteria were compared with previous works. The results indicate that the IT2FNN-FOPID controller performs better than other controllers in mitigating the seismic responses of the structure during an earthquake and achieving the control objectives. Thus, the J(1) criterion in the El Centro earthquake with an intensity of 1.5 times has improved by about 70% of the ratio of the LQG controller, which is about 60% in the case of the Kobe earthquake.

This paper employed the levenberg-marquardt algorithm to solve the inverse problem of estimating non-uniform heating boundary conditions in a diagonal lid-driven cavity. The nonuniform thermal conditions on lateral walls were exponential, triangular, and sinusoidalcosinusoidal. The finite volume method run in the Open FOAM software was used to solve the problem directly. The effect of the numbers and positions of sensors on estimation accuracy was examined for data collection, and sensitivity to noisy data was analyzed at different levels. The results showed that the proposed approach could estimate thermal boundary conditions with acceptable accuracy even when the measured data were noisy. The convergence analysis revealed that the model converged with a steep slope. This approach can be employed to determine the distribution of wall temperature in engineering uses, such as heating and cooling systems and heat transfer phenomena.

The objective of this study is to devise a predictive model for mass and heat transfer in electrically conductive tangent hyperbolic nanofluids under the influence of gyrotactic microorganisms and an effect of a horizontally stretched sheet with Thompson and Troian slip conditions. Improving the levenberg-marquardt algorithm (LMT) models so that it can effectively train a Backpropagation Neural Network (BP-NN) for predicting accurate fluid flow, temperature, concentration, and microorganism density profiles at different physical parameters. By means of similarity transformations, the mathematical model is first converted to a system of nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) into Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) which is solved through the BVP4C method created in MATLAB. The study confirms that the LMT accompanied with BP-NN provides a reliable and fast tool to investigate the complexities of non-Newtonian fluid, flow and diffusive mass transfer induced by tangent hyperbolic fluids and gyrotactic microorganisms. That advances the application of machine learning methods to fluid mechanics, including thermal management, and manufacturing cooling systems or biomedical fluid dynamics, by improving predictive capabilities.

As the application of lithium-ion batteries becomes more widespread, precise estimation of battery state becomes increasingly important. In many energy storage fields, batteries play an important role, and SOC has a significant impact on the battery management system (BMS). In this paper, a model analysis method of lithium-ion battery based on levenberg-marquardt algorithm (LMA) is proposed. This method only needs to obtain the voltage and current data of the battery under different working conditions, and then the parameters can be quickly identified and analyzed through the equivalent circuit model, thus improving the computational efficiency. The study is divided into two main stages: the first is to optimize the model parameters using the LMA algorithm, and the second is to verify whether SOC has improved the accuracy through experimental data. In this study, lithium-ion batteries are used as experimental materials. The results show that the proposed LMA identification framework not only has good robustness but also highly matches the experimental data. This algorithm is very effective in improving accuracy and provides great help for the future development of lithium-ion batteries. © 2025 IEEE.

Spectrometers are widely used in many fields. However, the spectrum is distorted due to the bandwidth limitations. This study analyzes the problem of using the least square method for bandwidth correction, introduces the common regularization methods and the existing problems of Tikhonov regularization, and proposes a new bandwidth correction method based on levenberg-marquardt algorithm with adaptive Tikhonov regularization. The proposed method was used to optimize spectral parameters. White light-emitting diodes and Raman were used as light sources, and a comparative simulation was conducted. Subsequently, the uncertainty and root mean square error of different regularization parameters were calculated. Results show that the proposed method exhibits satisfactory bandwidth correction effect and small estimation error.

Wireless capsule endoscopies are being developed for gastrointestinal tract examination via magnetic tracking technology. These capsules make it possible to examine the patient's digestive system without pain and easily diagnose diseases. However, one of the most important problems of these capsules is localization. This localization information includes 3-dimensional position and 3-dimensional orientation data from a set of magnetic sensors. These data must be obtained with the smallest error values. In recent years, metaheuristic algorithms have become popular in many fields due to their flexible nature. In this paper, the performances of frequently used algorithms such as artificial bee colony (ABC), differential evolution (DE), particle swarm optimization (PSO), teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO), genetic algorithm (GA), gravitational search algorithm (GSA), and whale optimization algorithm (WOA) are compared for magnetic localization problems. In addition, hybrid models combined with the levenberg-marquardt (LM) algorithm have been developed to increase their performance. In particular, while the PSO+LM algorithm is more successful than other algorithms, an adaptive version of this algorithm has been proposed to improve its performance further. Using the proposed version, the errors in the PSO+LM algorithm are further reduced and thus the localization efficiency of the capsules is increased.

Inverse estimation of unknown thermophysical properties of green facades using the levenberg-marquardt algorithm

Green facades are becoming increasingly popular in building design, and accurate thermophysical properties of the plant canopy are important to quantitatively evaluate the performance of green facades. The purpose of this paper is to propose an inverse heat conduction problem for estimating the unknown thermophysical properties of building green facades using Maple as the direct solver and the levenberg marquardt (LM) algorithm as the inverse method. The proposed method is applied to calculate the thermophysical properties of a green facade with greenery layer thickness of 0.4 m and 0.1 m air gap, and the measured leaf area index is 3.4. The results show that the thermophysical properties of the experimental green facade have no obvious functional dependence on solar radiation (I-glob,I-90) or ambient air temperature (T-a). The mean values of the thermal conductivity (lambda), the density (rho) and the specific heat (c(p)) were determined to be 4.4 W/m.K, 6.1 kg/m(3) and 7171.2 J/kg.K, respectively. The thermophysical properties calculated in the computational experiment were verified by measured data. The results indicate that the overall trends are similar and show relatively good agreement, but there are still deviations between them, especially during daytime, in the presence of solar radiation. The main influencing factor for errors is the volumetric heat generation (q(en)). In this study, heat generation is assumed to be the transmitted solar energy totally absorbed by the homogenous layer. This assumption needs be refined in future studies, especially in the presence of higher global solar radiation. The proposed inverse method can be used not only in the analysis of the thermal response of green facades or vertical greenery systems, but also to analyze other building envelopes of unknown thermophysical properties.

A combination of library search and levenberg-marquardt algorithm in optical scatterometry

Optical scatterometry has been widely used for nanostructure metrology in integrated circuit (IC) given the fast, low-cost, non-contact, non-destructive, and in-line technique. Library search is a common solution for optical scatterometry, but the deterministic error in this method is hard to be eliminated due to the limitation of the grid interval in the spectral library. Another solution is the nonlinear regression algorithm, which faces difficulty in practical applications in meeting the in-line real-time requirements as it involves the time-consuming rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) calculations in the forward modeling. In this paper, we propose a combination of library search and levenberg-marquardt (LSLM) algorithm to solve the problem. We apply a presorted K -dimensional tree (KD-tree) algorithm to speed up searching the initial parameters in the spectral library and replace the time-consuming RCWA calculations with the Taylor expansion in the spectral library to compute the Jacobian matrix in the levenberg-marquardt (LM) procedure. Simulations and experiments demonstrate that the results in the proposed method are accurate, and in particular, the speed is much faster than that in previous methods.

A modified levenberg-marquardt algorithm for low order-value optimization problem

In this paper, we consider a modified levenberg-marquardt algorithm for Low Order Value Optimization problems(LOVO). In the algorithm, we obtain the search direction by a combination of LM steps and approximate LM steps, and solve the subproblems therein by QR decomposition or cholesky decomposition. We prove the global convergence of the algorithm theoretically and discuss the worst-case complexity of the algorithm. Numerical results show that the algorithm in this paper is superior in terms of number of iterations and computation time compared to both LM-LOVO and GN-LOVO algorithm.

In this study, we have obtained the corresponding relationship between SLM-NiTi alloy transition temperatures and energy density, and realized the accurate prediction and in-verse prediction of SLM process parameters and NiTi alloy transition temperatures. And we verify the accuracy of the prediction model through DSC, XRD and SEM. Secondly, B190NiTi and B2NiTi are successfully obtained through the prediction model. Finally, a composite gradient NiTi is established based on the idea of rigid-flexible coupling, which successfully achieved the simultaneous improvement of the strength and toughness of the SLM-NiTi alloy. The compressive fracture strength reached 2668 MPa, and the fracture strain reached 55.51%. (C) 2021 Published by Elsevier B.V.
