Frequency domain identification can be used to find the linearized model of a nonlinear system for an operating point. The methods to identify transfer function coefficients from estimates of the frequency response function obtained from experimental data are studied using the example of a quadcopter vertical translation dynamics. Continuous and discrete time models are identified via linear least squares approach and optimization procedures.

Synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop (SRF-PLL) is a classical method to achieve grid synchronization in three-phase systems. And SRF-PLL has important inflnence on weak grids. Many linearized models have been addressed to describe PLLs. However. they have low dynamic accuracy at the case of frequency jump. To fill this gap. an accurate linearized model of SRF-PLL is proposed and the proposed model has good dynamic accuracy in cases of frequency jump and phase angle jump. In details, a nonlinear model of SRF-PLI. is established Then, a simplified model is obtained according to the accurate linearization technology. Compared with the traditional model of SRF-PLL, the proposed model has better dynamic accuracy, especially in the case of frequency jump.

linearized models of single machine infinite bus systems have been widely used for evaluation of small-disturbance rotor angle stability and design of excitation system of synchronous generators (SGs). However, to design controllers for conventional SG and Virtual Synchronous Generators (VSGs) in a future grid where variable renewable energy (VRE) is largely penetrated, a new linearized model including VRE is indispensable. In this study, a linearized model of a power system with an SG, a VRE-type generation and a load was derived considering bus voltage fluctuations due to VRE. This paper describes the model and consideration of the bus voltage fluctuations.

Although recent versions of Cadence PSpice contain functions that can derive regulation loop bode plots from a real time switching model, it is still very attractive and necessary for larger system analysis to have an accurate and precise linearized model of DC/DC converter stages, which covers both continuous and discontinuous conduction mode. It is also important that such a model provide the same transfer function as the simulated real time DC/DC converter, including Right Half Plane Zero (RHPZ) effects of boost family converters and load dependent inductance. A novel model, that fulfill these requirements has been developed and is presented in detail in this paper.

Rectifier Current Control for an LLC Resonant Converter Based on a Simplified linearized model

In this paper, a rectifier current control for an LLC resonant converter is proposed, based on a simplified, two-order, linearized model that adds a rectifier current feedback inner loop to improve dynamic performance. Compared to the traditional large-signal model with seven resonant states, this paper utilizes a rectifier current state to represent the characteristics of the resonant states, simplifying the LLC resonant model from seven orders to two orders. Then, the rectifier current feedback inner loop is proposed to increase the control system damping, improving dynamic performance. The modeling and design methodology for the LLC resonant converter are also presented in this paper. A frequency analysis is conducted to verify the accuracy of the simplified model. Finally, a 200W LLC resonant converter prototype is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. Compared to a traditional single-loop controller, the settling time and voltage droop were reduced from 10.8 ms to 8.6 ms and from 6.8 V to 4.8 V, respectively, using the proposed control strategy.

Stiffness-proportional foundation damping to linearise soil-monopile interaction models for wind turbines

The structural design of offshore wind turbines must account for numerous design load cases to capture various scenarios, including power production, parked conditions, and emergency or fault conditions under different environmental conditions. Given the stochastic nature of these external actions, deterministic analyses using characteristic values and safety factors, or Monte Carlo Simulations, are necessary. This process involves a large number of simulations, ranging from ten to a hundred thousand, to achieve a reliable and optimal structural design. To reduce computational complexity, practitioners can employ low-fidelity models where the soil-foundation system is either neglected or simplified using linear elastic models. However, medium to large cyclic soil-pile lateral displacements can induce soil hysteretic behaviour, potentially mitigating structural and foundation vibrations. A practical solution at the preliminary design stage entails using stiffness-proportional viscous damping to capture the damping generated by the soil-pile hysteresis. This paper investigates the efficacy of this simplified approach for the IEA 15 MW reference wind turbine on a large-diameter monopile foundation subjected to several operational and extreme wind speeds. The soil-pile interaction system is modelled through lateral and rotational springs in which a constant stiffness-proportional damping model is applied. The results indicate that the foundation damping generated by the nonlinear soil-pile interaction is significant and cannot be neglected. When fast analyses are required, the stiffness-proportional viscous damping model can be reasonably used to approximate the structural response of the wind turbine. This approach enhanced the accuracy of the computed responses, including the maximum bending moment at the mudline for ultimate limit design and damage equivalent loads for fatigue analysis, in comparison to methods that disregard foundation damping.

A Systematic Approach to Digital Control Development for Four-Phase SRM Drive Using Single Current Sensor for Medium Power Applications

In the realm of medium-power high-volume applications, Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drives hold great advantages over other motors. However, the SRM drive must be optimized to reduce cost without compromising the performance for medium power applications. This paper presents a novel SRM drive utilizing a Miller converter-fed SRM motor with a single current sensor, offering a comprehensive control development procedure encompassing system modeling, design procedures, dynamic simulation, analysis, and experimental validation. The SRM is characterized through finite element analysis (FEA) to derive a MATLAB Simulink simulation model, and the conduction angle is optimized for drive efficiency through parametric simulation studies. The linear SRM model for control design is obtained via small signal analysis. Speed and current controllers are designed using the K-factor method, and the efficacy of the proposed drive is rigorously evaluated across various operating modes in MATLAB Simulink. Additionally, a hardware prototype is developed and the digital control algorithm is implemented on the DSP microcontroller TMS320F28379D based on the designed controllers to further assess drive performance. The results obtained validate the robustness and dynamic performance of the SRM drive across variable speed, variable torque, and constant power modes of operation.

Linearization Decoupling Method and Control Stability Analysis of Maglev Train in Two-Dimensional Wide Domain Spaces

The electromagnetic forces exerted by a maglev train are highly nonlinear with respect to the varying currents and gaps in a two-dimensional wide domain space. As the speed of the vehicle increases, the difficulty of achieving stability in controlling the levitation gap will progressively increase to the point of impossibility. The Taylor series method is employed to decouple the electromagnetic force into the product of two separated variables, with current and gap serving as independent variables. Second, the optimal first-order approximation polynomials and Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials are employed to linearize the electromagnetic force based on the error distribution, respectively. Third, a dual-loop proportional integral derivative (PID) control model with voltage feedback for high-speed magnetic levitation vehicles is constructed based on this linearized decoupled model. The derivation of each control parameter is provided without loss of generality. In conclusion, a hybrid simulation model of a linear control system and a nonlinear magnetic field is constructed, and the control stability of the vehicle is analyzed using the German low interference track, which was used in the Shanghai Maglev commercial demonstration line. It is demonstrated that the two-dimensional spatial linearization method offers significant performance advantages over alternative control system methodologies. Furthermore, the absolute vibration value of the solenoid exhibits an order of magnitude advantage over conventional methods at specific speed conditions. Additionally, the reduction in current variation and current variability can significantly diminish the hardware resource requirements necessary for the control system. It is noteworthy that the control system based on this linear approach exhibits reduced sensitivity to vehicle speed. Over the speed range of the Maglev train, which varies from 300km/h to 600km/h, the control system demonstrates remarkable robustness.

A Novel Hybrid Neural Lyapunov Method With Low Conservatism for Power System Domain of Attraction Estimation

The strong representation ability of neural networks has provided a promising approach for power grid transient stability analysis. However, research in this area is still in the initial stage, and existing neural Lyapunov functions are characterized by several shortcomings, such as a high failure rate in falsification, difficulty in defining the validation region, and conservatism of the attraction domain. To address the above challenges, this article proposes a hybrid neural Lyapunov method with low conservatism. Unlike the existing neural Lyapunov functions, the proposed method is hybrid, combining linearized and nonlinear models. The region distant from the equilibrium point is analyzed using a neural Lyapunov function, while the region near the equilibrium point is analyzed using a linearized model. This hybrid strategy eliminates the need to strictly specify the initial validation region, mitigates the numerical stability problem of the neural network near the equilibrium point, and reduces the falsification region. Additionally, the improved trial-solution structure significantly simplifies the learning and falsification conditions and regularizes the optimization process to reduce the conservatism of the Lyapunov function. To further improve falsification efficiency, a domain of attraction (DOA) expansion algorithm with multithreaded chunked falsification is proposed. The method incrementally expands the validation region and has the potential to expand the isoenergetic surface defined by the LaSalle lemma. Applications of this method to transient stability analysis of synchronous generators and power electronics interfaced networked microgrids are presented, and multiple case studies are used to validate the suggested strategy. The results demonstrate that the method is generalizable and has a less conservative DOA estimate.

Enhanced Position Estimation Based on Frequency Adaptive Generalized Comb Filter for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives

Accurate rotor position estimation is critical to ensure the high-performance operation of position sensorless interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. However, the back electromotive force (BEMF) estimated by the model-based observers is usually nonideal, which may further degrade the position estimation accuracy. In this article, a frequency-adaptive generalized comb filter (FAGCF) with a quadrature phase-locked loop (PLL) is adopted to suppress the rotor position estimation errors by filtering out the dominant distortions in the BEMF, including the (6k +/- 1)th harmonics caused by inverter nonlinearity and flux spatial harmonics, as well as the dc offset from the inaccurate current measurements. This proposed filter is constructed by multiple digital delay blocks and therefore has the advantage of easy implementation with less online parameters tuning effort. Meanwhile, a linearized model is derived for PLL parameter design, with which the stability of the FAGCF-PLL position estimation system can also be analyzed theoretically. The effectiveness of the proposed sensorless control strategy has been validated with the experimental results on a 1.5-kW IPMSM drive.
