Different concepts of local computer network technological scheme and its economic justification with some appropriate calculations have been shown in this article. In our article, we are using our proposed approach, which can be helpful for some different companies, which is engaging to projecting and cabling the local computer networks. With using of this presented approach, these companies or other specialists in this area will be able to optimize their own costs more than 40% from full costs, which are planned for structured cabling design in data centres, and apartment buildings for data or voice communications using various kinds of cables. Our approach based on some standard costs varieties for the structured cabling design, which can be recommended to using only half part from cable possibility (wired cable). Therefore, full number of conductors in wired cable with the help of addition devices (splitters) was been offered to use. At the same time, any main functional characteristics of this wired cable were not being changed. In additional, is not any necessary to changing or re-building the rooms, hall-way's, passages and other kind of premises with using our approach, because this approach suggested to directly modify communication channels near the computer devices.

The retrial phenomenon and its significant effect on network performance have been taking into account in the literature (e.g., random access protocols in computer networks, cellular mobile telephony). Most studies assume exponential distributions to guarantee the tractability of the mathematical model. However, this is a serious drawback in practice where the exponentiality is not a realistic assumption. The objective is to find a good balance between realistic assumptions and tractability. In this paper, the objective is achieved by proposing a multichannel queueing model with quasi-random input and retrial and service times of phase type.

STUDY OF THE BEHAVIOR OF HUBNET

The behaviour of Hubnet is studied and analysed. A simulation model is developed from which the effect of the retry time on the performance of Hubnet is studied. It is shown that there is an inherent dependency between the packet length and the retry time. According to this dependency, retry time-values which are factors of the packet length exhibit superior performance in terms of reduced average delay and increased system utilisation, even when compared with some systems with smaller retry times. A novel analysis of Hubnet under overload conditions is provided. It is shown that Hubnet, under overload conditions, operates in a round-robin fashion, and that the channel-access time is bounded. The performance of Hubnet in a prioritised environment is explored. It is shown that Hubnet is a very good candidate for voice and data integration.

An analysis of an event driven local area network protocol for special purposes in indutrial applications is represented. The analysis is performed using the specification language ESTELLE/Ag and protocol analysis tool PRANAS-2. Validation was focused on the correctness media access algorithm, initialization of the protocol and recovery from error situations. The obtained simulation results can be used for comparison of the effectiveness of this protocol with other protocols. © 1993 Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.

Loop network architectures are an attractive topology for local computer networks because they require simple interfaces and control. Single loop networks tend to become unreliable when the number of nodes in the network becomes large. Multiconnected loop topologies have been proposed for improved reliability and performance. There are several double loop networks based on forward loop backward hop topology, with a loop in the forward direction connecting all the neighboring nodes, and a backward loop connecting nodes that are separated by a distance h . This paper presents a systematic study of single and double loop networks and also discusses various other loop networks with higher connectivities.

PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION OF A CSMA PROTOCOL FOR local computer-networks

Notable among local computer network protocols is the carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) network protocol. Many versions of CSMA have been proposed. The purpose of this paper is to derive an optimized performance of one version of CSMA, slotted nonpersistent CSMA with truncation (CSMA-SNP/TR), which is known to have better throughput performance than all other versions of CSMA. In this paper, the optimum average retransmission delay which provides the maximum throughput is presented in terms of message propagation delay, average retransmission delay, and number of terminals. Since the optimum average retransmission delay varies depending upon the number of terminals, an optimal average retransmission delay which nearly maximizes the throughput for a range of terminals is derived. A queueing model for representing the CSMA-SNP/TR protocol to analyze the performance of a computer network is also established. This work can be useful for design and performance analysis of distributed computer systems, including the computer systems and the communication channel connecting the computer systems.

The top-down approach to the design of Distributed Control computer Systems (DCCS) is introduced. Three statements form the basis for the study: 1. The design approach should be oriented toward production process control. 2. For real-time process control applications, computer networks need an efficient communication subsystem, with high reliability and short message transmission times being the most important features. 3. The tools and methodologies employed in computing and in control should complement one another to solve some of the DCCS design problems. Two steps of the top-down approach to the design of the DCCS are emphasized: 1. the control computer orientation in the production process analysis and the control system synthesis, and 2. the synthesis of the distributed computer system underlying the design stage of the communication system. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the design stages of the proposed approach.

The development of local computer networks for data transmission over short distances entails the study of problems of interconnection of such networks over middle distances, particularly the choice of the topology of the global network thus constituted. This problem is examined through the use of random access to a single channel. An approach to modeling of the system by a queuing network is introduced. The analytical solution of the model allows the attainment of global performance measures which may be used as evaluation criteria in network topology optimization problems. The time required for a new user which joins the network to transmit its number of messages also is derived.

A METHODOLOGY FOR BUILDING A SIMULATION-MODEL FOR EFFICIENT DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF local AREA networks

This paper proposes a general methodology for building a soft ware tool to aid in the design and performance modeling of local computer networks. At the core of the modeling approach lies a distributed view of the network consisting of independently modeled network functional components—protocols, nodes, and resources. The network components communicate through model defined or user provided interfaces. As a consequence, the effect of network changes, component deletions, or addi tions are localized and the network model can be easily altered to highlight certain components while reducing others as re quired in different design phases. The result is that long simula tion runs of a large and fully detailed model are replaced by shorter runs of several smaller "function oriented" network models. The inherent partitioning of the system model into relatively independent functional units makes it also a poten tial candidate for a distributed simulation implementation.
