The measurement and diagnosis of partial discharge(PD) is accepted as one of the most valuable means for assessing the quality of high voltage power apparatus and its running status. However, the current partial discharge monitoring mainly based on equipment, which needs multi-process test equipment, high cost, and large maintenance engineering. This paper introduced the use of four antennas array to receive ultra-high frequency(UHF) signal, and define 3-D coordinate system, then located PD source in the field of the substation, Furthermore, this paper discussed the principles of the location algorithm based on time difference, analyzed the origin of its location error, then the connection of location error and the placement of antenna array and the error of time difference has been discussed theoretically. Finally, this paper provided the optimal placement of the radio frequency antenna array.

localization is a vital foundation work in Wireless Sensor Network(WSN). Almost all of location algorithms at present need the position information of reference nodes to locate the unknown nodes. But most of algorithms assume an idealistic radio propagation model that is far from the reality. This will lead to obvious difference compared with real localization of WSN. In this paper we investigate the impact of radio irregularity on the localization algorithms performance in WSN. We introduce the Radio Irregularity Model(RIM) which is established upon empirical data. With this model, this paper analyzes the impact of radio irregularity on localization algorithms. We compare three typical coarse-grained localization algorithms: APIT, Centroid and DV-HOP in simulated realistic settings. Our experimental results show that radio irregularity has a significant impact on some main evaluation aspects of localization algorithms. Some interesting phenomena is worthy of further study.

Wearable Surgical Optical Tracking System Based on Multi-Modular Sensor Fusion

Optical tracking system (OTS) is an important part of surgical navigation and has been commonly employed in clinical practice due to high accuracy and precision. However, current OTS is bulky, which reduces the flexibility for clinical procedures. To address this drawback, we propose a wearable surgical instrument tracking system based on a multi-modular sensor fusion approach. The proposed tracking system consists of a multispectrum red-green-blue-depth (RGB-D) sensor and the accompanying tracking target. It significantly increases the agility of the tracking device while obtaining high tracking accuracy. We propose a plane-based refinement algorithm (PRA) to estimate marker centers, which ensures the accuracy and precision for the short baseline of the wearable stereo camera. A 2-D marker-based instrument identification algorithm (MIIA) has also been proposed to identify different instruments. Both simulations and real experiments have been carried out to validate the feasibility and performance of the proposed system. These accurate and robust experimental results have verified the feasibility of the proposed wearable surgical instrument tracking system.

Impact of Transmitter Positioning and Orientation Uncertainty on RSS-Based Visible Light Positioning Accuracy

This paper present simulation-based results on the impact of transmitter (Tx) position and orientation uncertainty on the accuracy of the visible light positioning (VLP) system based on the received signal strength (RSS). There are several constraining factors for RSS-based algorithms, particularly due to multipath channel characteristics and set-up uncertainties. The impact of Tx uncertainties on positioning error performance is studied, assuming a statistical modelling of the uncertainties. Simulation results show that the Tx uncertainties have a severe impact on the positioning error, which can be leveraged through the usage of more transmitters. Concerning a smaller Tx's position uncertainty of 5 cm, the average positioning errors are 23.3, 15.1, and 13.2 cm with the standard deviation values of 6.4, 4.1, and 2.7 cm for 4-, 9-, and 16-Tx cases, respectively. While for a smaller Tx' orientation uncertainty of 5 degrees, the average positioning errors are 31.9, 20.6, and 17 cm with standard deviation values of 9.2, 6.3, and 3.9 cm for 4-, 9-, and 16-Tx cases, respectively.

A clustering approach for error beacon filtering in underwater wireless sensor networks

Underwater wireless sensor networks are the enabling technology for the aquatic environmental monitoring and exploring and have attracted much attention recently. Due to the highly hostile and unpredictable underwater environments, some beacon nodes tend to move or be damaged. Therefore, the unknown nodes will be positioned with larger error, which abases the value of data collected by sensor nodes. In order to solve the beacon error problem, this article proposes an error beacon filtering algorithm based on K-means clustering. First, the coordinate of each beacon is calculated through an improved trilateration method, and then the beacon with the maximum positioning error is filtered out via the K-means clustering algorithm. The remaining beacons repeat the above processes until the distance error of each beacon does not exceed a preset threshold. The analysis of simulation results indicates that the error beacons can be accurately found and filter out through our proposed error beacon filtering algorithm ( based on K-means clustering), and thus the localization accuracy is enhanced. Besides, error beacon filtering algorithm also has a provable low complexity.

Field Application of Magnet-Based Smart Rock for Bridge Scour Monitoring

In this study, a smart rock, which is a magnet embedded in a concrete ball and whose direction is always pointing downwards, is proposed to monitor bridge scour depth. Based on the theory of magnetic field, the distribution of the magnet-induced magnetic field (MMF) induced by the smart rock was derived. An algorithm was developed to localize the position of the smart rock. Field tests were conducted at a bridge pier at three different times. Both the intensities of the ambient magnetic field (AMF) and the total magnetic field (TMF) were measured with a magnetometer. Results showed that the presence of steel reinforcement or steel girders in the bridge changed the distribution of the geomagnetic field. The algorithm successfully localized the position of the smart rock with an error ranging from 0.26 to 0.33m, which satisfied the requirement for engineering applications. The effective monitoring range depends on the variation of the AMF, and the maximum monitoring depth ranged from 11.5 to 8.5m as the standard deviation of the AMF increased from 32.3 to 80.75 nT. Design of quadrant photoelectric detection system and method of displacement calculation

A quadrant photoelectric detection system was built to accurately measure the displacement of laser spot. The designation of the quadrant photoelectric detection system was separated into a theoretical part and an experimental part. In the process of deducing the theoretical formula, the addition-subtraction algorithm was utilized to derive the azimuth offsets of the Gaussian beam, and polynomial fitting functions were used to calculate the position of laser spot center. In the process of building experimental platform, a two-stage amplification circuit for the quadrant photoelectric detection system was specifically designed to enlarge the weak signals, and wavelet threshold denoising was utilized to reduce the noise of the output voltage signals. Moreover, an experimental platform was built as well to measure the position of laser spot center compared with theoretical ones. Both of simulations and experimental results show that the designed quadrant photoelectric detection system can preciously calculate the displacement of laser spot center, and the absolute position errors of measured spot center are less than 0.02 mm.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is often used as a main information source for robot localization and navigation. However, it cannot be used in room or in field complex environment because of the bad signal there. To solve this problem, the authors designed and implemented a specific wireless sensor network (WSN) to provide information about the environment and indicate path for robot navigation. A two-stage auto-adaptive route selecting mechanism of the WSN was proposed to facilitate data relaying in localization and the robot's navigation. A low complexity localization algorithm was used to localize both the nodes and the robot. An indirect communication method was designed to make the communication between the WSN and the robot possible. In addition, a robot navigation method was proposed based on the wireless sensor network. In this method, the robot did not need to obtain the environment information; the wireless sensor nodes collected and fused the distributed information and then indicate a path for the robot. Experiments showed that the wireless sensor network can result in obstacle avoidance navigation, and can implement the online navigation.

Detection of Link Fault Using Risk Modelling and Improving QOS Parameters in IP/WDM Networks

An operational backbone network is connected with many routers and other devices. Identifying faults in the network is very difficult, so a fault localization mechanism is necessary to identify fault and alleviate it and correct the faults in order to reduce the network performance degradation. A risk model needs to be devised based on the dynamic database by creating alternate path and the network is reconfigured by identifying dynamic paths. In this paper, an on-demand link state routing approach is used for handling failures in IP backbone networks and a localization algorithm is used to improve QOS parameters based on threshold value of gateway. It is proved that on-demand link state routing guarantees loop-free forwarding to reachable destinations regardless of the number of failures in the network, and in case of localization algorithm using modification process packet loss is avoided based on threshold value of gateway. Heuristic algorithm is also used for reconfiguration of dynamic path for effective fault localization. In this paper, in order to change the traffic condition, reconfiguration strategic is dynamically used. Dijikstra’s shortest path algorithm has been used to determine the shortest path between node pairs. Using risk modeling mechanism, a small set of candidate faults is identified. The concept of Fault localization is used to minimize the fault occurring in the node and sends original path to node pairs. The localization algorithm based on MODIFICATION PROCESS, packet loss is avoided in the network by checking threshold value of gateway. If the threshold value is maximum, router directly forwards the packet to destination through gateway and if the threshold value is minimum, router compresses the packet and forwards the packet to destination with notification via gateway.

3D sensor network location spatial positioning technology based on machine learning

The purpose of this paper is to combine machine learning to locate the 3D sensor network space. Real life is mostly a three-dimensional environment. Whether it is a factory in manufacturing or a vegetation base in agriculture, it needs to be monitored and positioned. In this paper, the localization algorithm is discussed to a certain extent. This paper firstly introduces the relevant background and organizes related work. It also wrote related algorithms, such as ranging-based positioning algorithms in the free space of wireless sensors. It shows the positioning link by introducing the wireless sensor network structure system and node structure. And this paper summarizes the Bounding-box Method positioning principle, TDOA algorithm principle, and TDOA positioning principle. It then describes the gradient boosting tree classification algorithm based on machine learning, and focuses on the admiral boosting tree classification algorithm related to the experiment. This paper also describes the ranging technology combining RSSI algorithm and DV-Hop algorithm in three-dimensional space, and mentions two algorithms of RSSI and DV-Hop. In the fourth part, the machine learning coordinate prediction accuracy improvement experiment and the three-dimensional space positioning algorithm optimization experiment and result analysis are carried out. It is proved by experiments that the model evaluation effect of the gradient boosting tree classification algorithm in machine learning is the best. It can be applied to the calculation of relative position coordinates of label nodes. It then carried out the three-dimensional positioning effect test experiment of IDV-Hop algorithm. This shows that when the network density in the experimental environment reaches more than 12, the localization coverage of IDV-Hop algorithm and DV-Hop algorithm are both higher than 91%.
