The measurement and diagnosis partial discharge (PD) is accepted as one of the most valuable means for assessing the quality of high voltage (HV) power apparatus and cables. Different insulation system has a different discharge mechanism. At present, in the quality of high pressure component testing, the partial discharge and insulation defect of the relationship has become very important standard. Therefore, whether bureau put data identification (partial discharge pulse shape, bureau put data and pulse shape distribution density of statistical parameter) or bureau put classification analysis (statistical algorithms or neural network), will change from traditional identification methods for automatic identification. This paper describes the principles of calculating signal starting time through energy accumulation method and the location algorithm based on time difference. And the Newton algorithm and network search methods to solve the nonlinear equations are given. Finally, we define 3-D coordinate system by four antennas arrays, and calculate the coordinate of the PD location, and prove the algorithm above by lab simulation and locale measurement.

A Novel Hybrid location algorithm Based on Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization for Mobile Position Estimation

location estimation is significant in mobile and ubiquitous computing systems. Considering the influence of measurement error caused by time difference of arrival (TDOA)/angle of arrival (AOA) hybrid location algorithm and the nonlinear optimization problem encountered in the location estimation, in this paper, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on the chaos theory is proposed for the hybrid location of mobile location estimation. Taking the TDOA/AOA hybrid location algorithm for mobile location estimation as the object, the proposed algorithm greatly improves the location performance and accuracy of mobile location estimation. First, the estimation function of the mobile station is obtained by the maximum likelihood method, and then the initial population of PSO is generated by using the estimation function of the mobile station as a fitness function. The chaotic optimized particle swarm optimization algorithm (CPSO) is used to solve the optimal solution of the optimal position of the population and obtain the optimal mobile location position estimation, which makes the TDOA/AOA location algorithm have better location performance. The simulation results have demonstrated that the performance of the proposed method compared with the traditional Chan algorithm, the Taylor algorithm, and the TDOA/AOA hybrid location algorithm, the proposed algorithm can reduce the impact of error on the location accuracy, achieve a balance of global and local search capabilities, and have a faster convergence speed and more accurate positioning accuracy.

A measurements-based discharge location algorithm for plain disc winding power transformers

A measurements-based electrical method for locating partial discharges (PD) in transformers is described in the paper. This location method relies on the series resonance frequencies of the signals produced at the transformer terminals by a discharge on the winding. Based on the equivalent circuit of plain disc type winding which consists of series inductance (L), series capacitance (K) and shunt capacitance to earth (C) of the winding, an analytical location algorithm is derived which gives the relationship between the location of a discharge and its terminal response's series resonance frequencies. LKC parameters of the equivalent circuit can be estimated using the series resonance frequencies of a calibration signal measured at the bushing tap during PD calibration. The PD location algorithm was tested on 11 kV transformer winding using signals produced by a discharge simulator and real discharges, and the results confirm its validity with a location accuracy of better than 10% of the winding length. However, blind area where this location algorithm is not applicable does exist near the neutral of the winding and far away from the measuring terminal. Since this location algorithm uses the series resonance frequencies below 500 kHz, it can be implemented with conventional PD measuring circuitry and instruments to detect and locate discharges in power transformers.

GPS-less location algorithm for wireless sensor networks

The node location problem in wireless networks has been a research interest in the last years. In environments where GPS is not an option (e.g., for consumption reasons or because there is no direct link with the satellite constellation), the estimation of a node position using only RF signals is not a trivial task. Although some other systems have been proposed (ultrasonic signals, IR, etc.), these require additional hardware that is only useful for location purposes. According to this point, some algorithms have been proposed for providing sensible position estimations in the presence of distance errors. These methods normally require heavy computational processes to overcome the presence of these errors or easily degrade when the distance measurements have a certain magnitude. This paper describes an algorithm to compute the location of a node in the presence of severe distance estimation errors and analyzes its performance and computational cost. To make the implementation of this algorithm feasible in wireless sensor networks, different optimization techniques are proposed, in order to speed-up the location estimation of a node, without losing its estimating power. RFID based location algorithm for property management

To solve the problem of significant location error caused by non-line of sight (NLOS), multi-path transmission and other factors in the property management functional location of college sports venues, radio frequency identification location algorithm (RFIDLA) is proposed. Given the range error caused by location recognition volatility, RFIDLA value is used to optimize the property management functional location of college sports venues, and RFID based location algorithm for property management is proposed. Compared with traditional location algorithms, RFIDLA has optimized the weight model and speed update strategy, which can prevent the situation from falling into local optimum. After the simulation experiment, the algorithm is further applied to the property management functional location experiment of college sports venues. Throught the actual measurement experiment, it is verified that the mean location error of the proposed algorithm in the test environment is less than 0.5 m, with a better locator effect compared with LSE and standard identification location algorithm.

Feasibility study of a system for airborne detection of avalanche victims with ground penetrating radar and a possible automatic location algorithm

Slightly more than one third of all buried avalanche victims of the last 4 years in Austria and Switzerland did not wear any locating device. This is a demanding problem for rescue operations. A fast and reliable method to locate these victims is desired. A ground-penetrating radar (GPR) mounted on a helicopter with an automatic location of buried objects via processing the radar data and GPS referencing is suggested to be a tremendous support to organised rescue teams. To set up the basis of such a system, we performed field experiments in winter 2006 to investigate three fundamental topics: (i) the influence of the snow properties on the radar signal, (ii) the maximum horizontal distance of a victim from the flight direction and (iii) the influence of the orientation of the victim with respect to the flight direction. A numerical simulation of radar signals on an inhomogeneous moist snow pack was computed and compared to field measurements. Post processing of the radar data was developed based on statistical evaluation of the reflected radar energy. To simulate a helicopter flight the radar antenna, a 400 MHz GPR system, was mounted on an approximately 6 in high aerial railway system. The victim was substituted by water bags in various depths. In experiments with dry snow the water bags could be detected easily, independent of the large spatial variation of snow densities in the test arrangement. In moist snow however, it was impossible to detect the target. The numerical simulation of this situation gives reason to presume that the variation of electrical conductivity, due to the spatial variability of the moisture content, causes this difficulty. The post processing was able to provide a numerical cheap automatic location procedure using a simple threshold value. The maximum transversal distance of a victim from the direction of a flight in 6 m height turned out to be approximately 1.5 m. Port container handling is an important part of terminal operations. When loading multiple containers, operators can only rely on human eyes and PLC information to obtain the location of the container. To avoid the serious consequences of miscalculation, a combination algorithm is proposed in this paper. We choose coastline, container ridgeline and container number as features to analyses and locate. coastline location algorithm based on color space and improved OTSU segmentation. Container ridgeline location based on Sobel and clustering algorithm. Container number location based on Maximally Stable Extremal Regions (MSER) algorithm. After testing 71 group operation videos of 4 bridge cranes in Ningbo port, the combination algorithm achieves better positioning accuracy. The average processing time of a single frame is less than 0.6s. The algorithm proposed in this paper provides an effective reference and solution for improving the efficiency of terminal operations.

In this paper, a location algorithm pattern based on fuzzy identification with multi-layer synchronization and cooperative difference is proposed to eliminate location errors and system interference caused by ambiguity distribution parameters. As the algorithm model is built to carry out fuzzy identification among faintness and ambiguity signal parameters, the location algorithm is provided with indubitable feasibility, validity and precision for fuzzy signal processing. Simulation results show that more precise location processing can be achieved with mass fuzzy parameters.

A novel data processing algorithm named "2-FFT" for multi-point disturbances detection and location in an in-line Sagnac sensing system is proposed and demonstrated. When multiple disturbances are applied onto the sensing fiber at the same time, the frequency response curve of the modulated phase will be superposed by each null frequency curve of the single disturbance. However, by applying a second-time FFT to the frequency spectrum, the location corresponding to each disturbance point could be simply extracted and determined. Based on the theoretical and the experimental investigation, the "2-FFT" algorithm is demonstrated to be reasonable and efficient.

Due to the time-varying and multi-path environment in mobile communications, Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) has become the most challenging problem when reaching higher accuracy in wireless location estimation. In this paper, we propose a novel location algorithm named Linear location Prediction (LLP) to gain favorable TOA location accuracy without bringing much complexity. By fully exploiting the common characteristics of moving objects, we provide linear location prediction estimation to MS in advance as a reference value to the newly estimated TOA measurement at the next sampling moment in NLOS situations. Therefore, the effect of NLOS errors is greatly reduced as the NLOS-contaminated estimated value can be compensated dynamically using the predicted one, yielding higher location accuracy. The simulation shows that the location error of our algorithm is restricted to an encouraging level of only 0.074 kilometers, which is one third of that of the best algorithm, BFA [2]. In addition to that, the slowly rising curve of location error versus number of NLOS-contaminated BSs proves its greater robustness to NLOS contamination as well.
