Understanding the mechanisms underlying the formation of memories is a central goal forneuroscientists. Adaption of structural and functional plasticity is the neural basis ofmemory processes. Epigenetic regulation has emerged as important mechanism for synapticplasticity and memory formation. long non-coding rna(lncrna) has no protein-coding ability and can act as epigenetic regulators. The role of lncrnas in CNS, especiallyin memory processes has not been well-investigated. Using contextual fear conditioningrat model, a custom-designed microarray was applied to examine the expressionprofile of mrnas and lncrnas of hippocampal CA1 region during memory formation.1898 mrnas and 1445 lncrnas were identified to be significantly differential *** methods(e.g. GO analysis, Pathway analysis and DynamicGeneNet analysis)were used for further function analysis. The genome-wide alteration of lncrnas expression indicates lncrnas could be potential regulator for memory formation, which provided new idea for elucidating the epigenetic mechanism of memories.
