This paper will utilize a method to recover the damaged time-domain signal of the OFDm system over the WLAN channel in the industrial environment. We assume that the channel is perfectly detected. The simulated results show that the OFDm system using m-algorithm can achieve better BER performance compared to that of the conventional OFDm system in the AWGN channel when 1/2 time-domain signal is missing. On the other hand, the BER performance of the OFDm system with m-algorithm using ZF is better than that of the conventional OFDm system when 1/4 and 1/2 time-domain signal is missing in the WLAN channel. In addition, the BER performance of the OFDm system with m-algorithm using mmSE is better than that of the OFDm system with m-algorithm using ZF in the WLAN channel when 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 time-domain signal is missing.

This paper proposes a new adaptive K-best algorithm for mImO systems. The proposed scheme controls the number of survivor paths, K based on the degree of the reliability of Zero-Forcing (ZF) estimates at each K-best step. The critical drawback of the fixed K-best detection is that the correct path's metric may be temporarily larger than K minimum paths metrics due to imperfect interference cancellation by the incorrect ZF estimates. So, the conventional variable K-best schemes control K according to measured SNR value. However, these schemes still have the problem that needs to accurately and dynamically measure SNR for optimal setting of K. In the proposed variable scheme, we accomplish adaptation of K without necessity of SNR measurement. It is found that the ratio of the minimum path metric to tire second minimum is a good reliability indicator for the channel condition. By adaptively changing K based on this ratio, the proposed scheme effectively achieves the performance of large K-best system while maintaining the overall average computation complexity much smaller than that of large K-best system without the necessity of SNR value estimation.

Soft-decisions from a multiple input multiple output (mImO) detector are desirable if iterative detection and decoding (IDD) is employed at receivers in mImO systems. The minimum mean square error (mmSE)-soft cancellation (SC) detector has an excellent trade-off between performance and complexity. By noting that the mmSE-SC detector is an approximate maximum a posteriori probability (mAP) detector, another approximate mAP detector that uses sequential processing is proposed in this paper. The proposed sequential detector can provide a better performance than the mmSE-SC detector, while its complexity is comparable with that of the mmSE-SC detector. An interesting feature of the proposed sequential detector is that the trade-off between complexity and performance can be exploited by a single parameter, which could be an important control parameter in practical implementations.

For high-speed packet access, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) and multi-input multi-output (mImO) multiplexing are indispensable techniques. Single-carrier (SC) mImO block transmission using frequency-domain signal detection such as the frequency-domain linear detection based on the minimum mean square error criterion (mmSED) can improve the HARQ throughput performance over the frequency-selective fading channel. However, the performance improvement is limited due to not only an inter-antenna interference (IAI) but also an inter-symbol interference (ISI) resulting from a severe frequency-selective fading. In this paper, we propose to jointly use a training sequence (TS) aided SC block transmission and a near maximum likelihood (mL) block detection using QR decomposition and m-algorithm (QRm-mLBD) for SC-mImO HARQ. It is shown, by computer simulation, that SC-mImO using TS aided QRm-mLBD significantly improves the HARQ throughput performance compared to an often used cyclic prefix (CP) inserted SC-mImO while significantly reducing the computational complexity. It is also shown that proposed TS aided QRm-mLBD achieves a significantly higher throughput than the mmSED particularly when higher level modulation is used.

The use of multiple antennas at both transmitter and receiver can increase wireless communication system capacity enormously. The optimal detection algorithm for mImO system is maximum likelihood detection (mLD) algorithm, which provides the best bit error rate (BER) performance for mImO system. However, the computational complexity of mLD algorithm grows exponentially with the number of transmit antennas and the order of modulation. An improved mImO detection algorithm which combined m-algorithm with stack algorithm was presented in this paper. The proposed algorithm was a multistage detection which was consisted with three parts: mLD, m-algorithm and stack algorithm. In mImO communication system with in transmit antennas, after performing QR decomposition of the channel matrix, the mLD with length L was done firstly. The partial accumulated metrics were calculated and sorted, which produced an ordered set. Then selecting the first m partial symbol vectors to form a new ordered set. Based on the new ordered set, stack algorithm was performed to search for the symbols with the minimum accumulated metrics. The proposed algorithm combining m algorithm and stack algorithm reduced numbers of ordering with the original stack algorithm, the probability of look back and improving the detection performance.

The min-sum (mS) algorithm is arguably the second most fundamental algorithm in the realm of message passing due to its optimality (for a tree code) with respect to the block error probability [1]. There also seems to be a fundamental relationship of mS decoding with the linear programming decoder [2]. Despite its importance, its fundamental properties have not nearly been studied as well as those of the sum-product (also known as BP) algorithm. We address two questions related to the mS rule. First, we characterize the stability condition under mS decoding. It turns out to be essentially the same condition as under BP decoding. Second, we perform a degree distribution optimization. Contrary to the case of BP decoding, under mS decoding the thresholds of the best degree distributions for standard irregular LDPC ensembles are significantly bounded away from the Shannon threshold. more precisely, on the AWGN channel, for the best codes that we find, the gap to capacity is 1dB for a rate 0.3 code and it is 0.4dB when the rate is 0.9 (the gap decreases monotonically as we increase the rate). We also used the optimization procedure to design codes for modified mS algorithm where the output of the check node is scaled by a constant 1/alpha For alpha = 1.25, we observed that the gap to capacity was lesser for the modified mS algorithm when compared with the mS algorithm. However, it was still quite large, varying from 0.75 dB to 0.2 dB for rates between 0.3 and 0.9. We conclude by posing what we consider to be the most important open questions related to the NIS algorithm.

A new 2-step maximum likelihood block signal detection employing QR decomposition and m-algorithm (QRm-mLBD) is proposed to further reduce the computational complexity while keeping a good bit error rate (BER) performance for the single-carrier (SC) transmission in a frequency-selective fading channel. Prior to QRm-mLBD, a computationally efficient minimum mean square error based frequency-domain equalization (mmSE-FDE) is performed to discard the symbol candidates in the tree based on the soft decision results of mmSE-FDE. We evaluate, by computer simulation, the BER performance achievable by the proposed improved 2-step QRm-mLBD and show that the proposed scheme can reduce the computational complexity compared to the previously proposed conventional 2-step QRm-mLBD while keeping the same BER performance.

QR-decomposition with m-algorithm (QRDm) achieves quasi-mL performance in multiple-input multiple-output (mImO) multiplexing systems. Nevertheless, QRDm performs avoidable computations because of its systematic search strategy and its unawareness of the channel and noise conditions. Another drawback is that QRDm has a sequential nature which limits the capabilities of pipelining. In this paper, we propose semi-mL adaptive parallel QRDm (APQRDm) and iterative QRDm (AIQRDm) algorithms based on set grouping. Using the set grouping, the tree-search stage of QRDm algorithm is divided into partial detection phases (PDP). Therefore, when the tree-search stage of QRDm is divided into 4 PDPs, the APQRDm latency is one fourth of that of the QRDm, and the hardware requirements of AIQRDm is approximately one fourth of that of QRDm. moreover, simulation results show that in 4 x 4 system and at E-b/N-0 of 14 dB, APQRDm decreases the average computational complexity to approximately 43% of that of the conventional QRDm. Also, at E-b/N-0 of 0dB, AIQRDm reduces the computational complexity to about 54% and the average number of metric comparisons to approximately 10% of those required by the conventional QRDm and AQRDm.

This paper presents the latest improvements in Speaker Diarization obtained by ViVoLAB research group for the 2019 DIHARD Diarization Challenge. This evaluation seeks the improvement of the diarization task in adverse conditions. For this purpose, the audio recordings involve multiple scenarios with no restrictions in terms of speakers, overlapped speech nor quality of the audio. Our submission follows the traditional segmentation-clustering-resegmentation pipeline: Speaker embeddings are extracted from acoustic segments with a single speaker on them, later clustered by means of a PLDA. Our contribution in this work is focused on the clustering step. We present results with our Variational Bayes PLDA clustering and our tree-based clustering strategy, which sequentially assigns the different embeddings to its corresponding speaker according to a PLDA model. Both strategies compare multiple diarization hypotheses and choose their candidate one according to a generative criterion. We also analyze the impact of the different available embeddings in the state-of-the-art with both clustering approaches.
