matlab model for designing mass exchange networks: A case study on pyrolysis plant for effective waste minimization

Enormous amounts of raw materials are consumed through various industrial processes worldwide. Vast amounts of raw materials utilized by the chemical industry typically go to waste. Mass integration is a distinctive method of streamlining the consumption of raw materials in chemical industries. Mass integration was developed by employing principles of pinch analysis in order to optimize mass exchange networks. To apply the concepts of mass integration, this work introduces a Matrix Laboratory (matlab) code designed on the bases of the composition driving force graphical design approach. This matlab code was devised to analyze details of mass transfer operations with the lowest number of calculations possible. The algorithm's detailed coding allows for designing mass exchange networks above and below the pinch. For maximum mass recovery, pinch principles were employed, and were delivered in an educational manner to students and young researchers in the field. The matlab code was designed to develop a useful toolbox for process integration as well as determine the number of plates required for each mass exchanger. The model was tested at pyrolysis plant with the aim of achieving mass targets and optimum matches for maximum recovery at the lowest costs possible. (C) 2021 THE AUTHORS. Queuing theory was introduced for the first time about 100 years ago. Currently it is the key for internet trafficking and network modeling. For analyzing the viability of any specific model queuing theory is processed carefully while manipulating the different parameters to extract the best combination in real-time. A basic M/M/1 (a queuing system with Poisson arrivals, exponentially distributed service times and a single server) model explains how different entities react for variation of parameters. A matlab model for M/M/1 queue is taken to observe these changes.

This paper proposed a matlab based model of the primary loop of a Concentrating Solar Power plant (CSP). Among the available technologies for the CSP, the parabolic troughs with a binary mixture of salts as heat transfer fluid is considered here. The model accepts some input data related to the both the location (for example daily solar irradiance) and the layout of the solar field. Moreover, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been implemented with the aim to be used by everyone for any layout of CSP. The model is based on CSP with thermal storage, therefore the input and output temperatures have to be well-defined. The advantage of the CSP with thermal storage it the independence by environment conditions different from the forecasted ones.

This paper presents a matlab model for the signal path within a DVB-T receiver, along with a new method for analyzing the effects various block nonidealities have on the receiver, when considering unwanted signals such as the adjacent channels and out-of-band blockers. The models for amplifier-type blocks cover not only the basic parameters - gain, bandwidth but also the noise - though the noise factor - and the nonlinearity - through the compression and intercept points. Additional features are provided for blocks with more specific functions: gain imbalance and quadrature error are added in for the mixer model, frequency characteristics for channel filters models, quantization error for the analog-to-digital converter. The model also comprises an OFDM signal generator and the DSP block. The proposed analysis method is based on a direct, sample-by-sample, comparison between a reference signal - obtained by using a reference version of the receiver, for which some aspects are idealized - and the "real" signal, obtained by using the complete receiver model and considering all signals, wanted and unwanted.

Temperature dependent iterative model of thermoelectric generator including thermal losses in passive elements

Design and development of a thermoelectric module and in its use in real application require an accurate simulation tool, which provides electrical and thermal characterizations as a function of temperature. The problem of correctly solving the basic thermoelectric equations originates from the fact that junctions temperatures are unknown and normally cannot be measured, whereas only external temperatures are available in testing and real applications. Due to thermal losses in passive layers, the internal temperatures can be significantly different. At the same time all the equations contains temperature dependent parameters. Many approximations are usually introduced to achieve results. Here we propose a simple iterative method to obtain the temperature losses and calculate all thermoelectric performances with corrected temperatures. The method, developed in matlab language, takes into account temperature dependent material properties, thermal and electrical resistance of passive elements (electrodes, ceramics, interfaces, contact pad, etc.). Joule heating, Peltier and Thomson effects are considered in determine the temperatures. The effectiveness of the proposed procedure and the differences between approximated methods are investigated. The accuracy is proved with two commercial modules: the deviation were found to be within 4% and 3%. The code demonstrates to converge in few iterations in both cases. Moreover, the robustness has been investigated as a function of different parameters confirming that the code is suitable also for parametric simulations.

Neutral-point potential balancing control strategy of three-level active NPC inverter based on SHEPWM

This study proposes a novel control strategy for a three-level active neutral-point clamped (3L-ANPC) inverter using selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM). The proposed control strategy can effectively control the neutral-point potential (NP) balancing and eliminate the selective harmonics simultaneously. The three-phase SHEPWM line-to-line voltages of the inverter are considered as switching-states. Among these switching states, the six pairs of redundant switching-states generate the same line-to-line voltages and thus the same harmonic spectrums with each pair having opposite effects on NP balancing. As a result, the pair of switching-states can be swapped to control the NP while still maintaining the same inverter output. The decision to make such swap will take into account directions of output currents, polarities of NP offsets and exclusion of directly switching between P and N states. The simulation and experimental results on a matlab/Simulink model and prototype of a three-phase 3L-ANPC inverter are used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

The operation and control of electric power system highly depends on knowledge of dynamic conditions. Power plants, especially hydropower plants, have the highest impact on overall power system dynamics. Therefore, dynamic mathematical model of hydropower plant was developed in order to conduct a theoretical research of the dynamic conditions of the transmission power system during normal and abnormal operating conditions. To build the mathematical model of the hydropower plant, synchronized phasor measurements from the Phasor Measurement Units were used for a dynamic picture of a part of power system near hydropower plant. Relevant events recorded by WAM (Wide Area Monitoring) System were used for fine tune-up of the dynamic mathematical model of hydropower plant. Additional validation of the mathematical model was made by using matlab calculations. An example of the proposed dynamic modelling was performed on reversible hydropower plant.

This study focus on the agricultural energy Internet, which the concept of "Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction" makes agriculture an essential direction for the development of the energy Internet. Agricultural Energy Internet will change the way energy is produced, transported, and consumed, further affect people's lives, promote energy transformation, improve energy efficiency, and contribute to the realization of circular economy and sustainable rural development. China has realized the coordinated development of "New agriculture", "new energy", and "Live streaming E-commerce" and contributed to the revitalization of rural areas. Based on the problems existing in agricultural energy internet, this study solves the problems existing to ensure the safety and reliability of the photovoltaic power generation system connected to the grid. This study uses the matlab model to simulate and analyze the changes in working conditions. The power input can be realized quickly, and the frequency and phase of the power grid can be tracked to meet grid connection requirements. The simulation analysis of SPWM current by matlab shows that the control model can quickly realize grid voltage and grid-connected current phase tracking. At 0.06 s, MPPT can be well controlled so that the grid voltage and the grid current are in the same frequency and phase to meet the requirements of the grid. In the energy Internet of agricultural parks, on the one hand, intelligent photovoltaic technology can solve the problem of resource waste in China's agricultural production and reduce the waste of hydropower resources through more accurate methods than manual observation;On the other hand, photovoltaic power generation and intelligent irrigation can make the use of facility agriculture cleaner and smarter, optimize the agricultural energy structure and reduce labor intensity. The article deals with mathematical modelling of a system for ex-vivo lung perfusion. The system which is modelled here is named Mobile Circulatory Module and is designed for transport of live lungs namely porcine or human lungs. Transported lungs should be used for various research or even for transplantation. The article describes mathematical model of thermal circuit and hydraulic circuit which are vital parts of the MCM to secure living conditions of the transported organ. Mathematical model is simulated with matlab Simulink and shows good qualitative correspondence with real behavior of the system. Based on math model there is designed control algorithm for temperature control and there is discussed control of perfusion liquid as well.
