A general non-Gaussian semiparametric model is adopted to characterize the measurement vectors, or snapshots, collected by a linear array. Moreover, the recently derived robust semiparametric efficient R-estimator of the data covariance matrix is exploited to implement an original version of the music estimator. The efficiency of the resulting R-music algorithm is investigated by comparing its Mean Squared Error (MSE) in the estimation of the source spatial frequencies with the relevant Semiparametric Stochastic Cramer-Rao Bound (SSCRB).

Angular resolution of real aperture radar is limited by antenna beam width. Because of the constraints of antenna size and other physical factors, it is difficult to obtain high azimuth resolution. In this paper, angular superresolution method in array signal processing is applied to scanning antenna model, and an extension and improvement of the well-known Multiple Signal Classification (music) algorithm is proposed when a real beam scanning antenna is used. Different from the classical music algorithm, the new method is realized in the framework of beamforming, which is not based on subspace decomposition and the number of sources is hence not required for direction finding. This enables us to avoid performance deterioration caused by incorrect source number estimation. To verify the theoretical analysis, computer simulations are implemented and comparisons with other algorithms are made.

Due to its cheap price and no line of sight requirement, the RFID has emerge the field of indoor localization. Many algorithms have been developed, the classical ones have used the received signal strength information as a metric, but due to the low degree of accuracy, we propose in this paper an other algorithm known as music algorithm which estimates the direction of arrival to determine the coordinates of the tag, then we will apply a spatial smoothing to eliminate the problem of interference. We will show through some simulations on Matlab software the most improvements like the accuracy that this technique has brought.

Pseudo-projection approach to reconstruct locations of point-like scatterers characterized by Lame parameters and mass densities in an elastic half-space

A method for reconstructing the locations of point-like scatterers in an elastic half-space is developed in this article. Point-like scatterers are characterized by fluctuations of the Lame parameters and the mass densities from the background structure of the wavefield. A representation of the wavefield is realized with the monopole and dipole Green's functions. The main contribution of the present work is to clarify the far-field properties of the Green's functions for both the monopole and dipole sources, which yields the pseudo-projection approach to the wave problem. Indicator functions that reconstruct the locations of point-like scatterers are defined by the far-field operator derived from the pseudo-projections and the near-field observation. Numerical computations were carried out to verify the accuracy of the pseudo projection method. The sensitivities of the accuracy of the reconstruction results for the proposed method to random noise, the grid resolution at the free surface, and the analyzed frequency were also examined. A Super-Resolution-Assisted Fingerprinting Method Based on Channel Impulse Response Measurement for Indoor Positioning

The channel impulse response (CIR), which characterizes the multipath channel between a transmitter and a receiver, can serve as a received position signature for indoor position fingerprinting (FP). Since it takes large system bandwidth to distinguish individual paths along which the signal waves travel in an indoor environment, a small bandwidth may yield an unsatisfactory performance of FP based on mere CIR. In this paper, we apply the multiple signal classification (music) algorithm, a super-resolution method, to unveil the path-delay signatures covered by bandwidth-limited CIRs. With the pseudospectrum evaluated with music, we resolve and identify the arrival times of the individual paths at a sub-sample precision. We further propose a super-resolution-aided fingerprinting (SFP) algorithm to estimate the receiver & x0027;s position by taking the averaged positions of the reference points (RPs) of similar FP signatures with weights evaluated by the difference in pseudospectrum and received power. Experiments in an indoor environment show that SFP reduces the positioning error compared to the FP based on conventional channel state information (CSI), and that demands fewer infrastructures and less protocol complexity than CIR-based FP does to achieve similar performance.

Mixed near field and far field sources localization algorithm based on MEMS vector hydrophone array

A mixed near and far field sources localization algorithm is proposed which applied to the uniform linear MEMS vector hydrophone array. The algorithm includes three steps: firstly, the steering vector contains common azimuthal information in both near and far field, direction-of-arrival (DOA) can be obtained by using the music algorithm. Secondly, the direction vector array is decomposed into different matrices and DOA and range are separated efficiently. All DOAs can be obtained through searching for a feature matrix. Thirdly, one-dimensional spectrum search in Fresnel zone is carried out to realize the accurate estimation of range in near-field. Finally, the performance of the algorithm was simulated. The results verify that the proposed algorithm can achieve DOA estimation within the range of [0:2*pi] and solve the problem of port and starboard ambiguity. The vector matrix algorithm does not require construction the high-order cumulants and multi-dimensional search, and can avoid parameter matching procedure. (C) 2019 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

A novel subspace method for precise carrier frequency offset estimation in multicarrier modulation scheme under multiuser environment

In recent years, the demand on data communication is rapidly increasing, and there is a need of spectrally efficient modulation scheme for massive data transmissions. Multicarrier modulation (MCM) is widely used in wireless systems to support high data rate multimedia services such as audio, video, image, and data. Multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is one of the MCM techniques which combines the best features of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and code division multiple access (CDMA). The carrier frequency offset (CFO) due to oscillator instabilities or Doppler shifts greatly deteriorates the performance of MC-CDMA system. Hence, the subcarriers are no longer orthogonal and introduce intercarrier interference (ICI) at the receiver. The simultaneous CFO estimation and compensation in multiuser mobile environment are a challenging task which needs to be addressed for optimum performance. The blind CFO estimation such as maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) has limited estimation range which is less than half the subcarrier spacing. Multiple signal classification (music) is the spectral estimation-based subspace method suited for simultaneous CFO estimation in the multiuser environment. music offers precise CFO estimation only for the well-spaced CFOs and fails to discriminate the strictly spaced CFOs. Hence, a novel subspace method is proposed in this paper to improve the estimation accuracy for closely spaced CFOs with the reduced computational complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed enhanced root music estimation outperforms MLE and music in terms of estimation accuracy, bit error rate (BER), and ICI power.

Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation is an important research direction of the array signal processing in many fields, such as radar, communications, sonar etc. which has very broad application prospects. However, in the processing of spatial spectrum estimation, the array errors including mutual errors and amplitude and phase errors are hard to be ignored, which may cause discrepancies between array manifold and hypothetical model, thus DOA algorithm performance model based on the ideal model decreases, which will affect the actual application of DOA algorithm. Therefore, it is significant to strengthen the stability of spatial spectrum estimation in actual application. They will be discussed in this paper including method of correcting errors under the circumstance that multiple errors exist at the same time. It is mainly about the common inconsistencies errors of amplitude and phase and array elements mutual coupling error, which are combined with music algorithm of subspace class used in uniform linear arrays (ULAs).

Ultrasound imaging is applied to various fields because it is noninvasive and real-time imaging is possible. However, in diagnosis applications, ultrasound imaging is inferior in resolution to other modalities, so researches for improving resolution have been actively conducted. Recently, researches on beamforming methods have been advanced for the purpose of improving lateral resolution. In order to form a narrower beam, adaptive beamformers such as the MV (minimum variance) beamformer that adaptively changes the beamforming weights have been proposed, but these methods increase the computational complexity. Therefore, in recent years, the FDMAS (Filtered-Delay Multiply And Sum) beamformer which can realize high resolution and high contrast without using complicated calculation attracts attention. On the other hand, we proposed a method called the SCM (Super resolution FM-Chirp correlation Method) that improves range resolution based on frequency sweep. In addition, we proposed a new DAS (Delay And Sum) beam former which improves range resolution by multiplying the echo signal by the result of the SCM before DAS processing. This method is constructed in the usual RF (Radio Frequency) band. In this study, we first reconstruct the FDMAS as a base-band processing in order to improve the SNR, and apply the SCM result to the FDMAS in order to improve both range and lateral resolution.

Three-Dimensional Wind Measurement Based on Ultrasonic Sensor Array and Multiple Signal Classification

The wind power industry continues to experience rapid growth worldwide. However, the fluctuations in wind speed and direction complicate the wind turbine control process and hinder the integration of wind power into the electrical grid. To maximize wind utilization, we propose to precisely measure the wind in a three-dimensional (3D) space, thus facilitating the process of wind turbine control. Natural wind is regarded as a 3D vector, whose direction and magnitude correspond to the wind's direction and speed. A semi-conical ultrasonic sensor array is proposed to simultaneously measure the wind speed and direction in a 3D space. As the ultrasonic signal transmitted between the sensors is influenced by the wind and environment noise, a Multiple Signal Classification algorithm is adopted to estimate the wind information from the received signal. The estimate's accuracy is evaluated in terms of root mean square error and mean absolute error. The robustness of the proposed method is evaluated by the type A evaluation of standard uncertainty under a varying signal-to-noise ratio. Simulation results validate the accuracy and anti-noise performance of the proposed method, whose estimated wind speed and direction errors converge to zero when the SNR is over 15 dB.
