The traditional music algorithm for MIMO radar angle estimation has been improved to reduce the amount of arithmetic operations. The N-th power of the inverse matrix is applied to approximate the noise subspace to eliminate the requirement of distinguishing the signal and the noise subspace. The combination of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors replaces the N-th power of the inverse covariance matrix. The improved algorithm has been implemented by DSP. The simulation and measurement results show this music algorithm can be used to estimate the target angle accurately.

Electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna is well known for its low-power consumption, small-size antenna. In this paper, a novel fourth-order music algorithm using a 13-element ESPAR antennas for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation is proposed based on processing the covariance matrix of the array output signals. Unlike the conventional music algorithm which is an effective method for DOA estimation, the main motivation of the fourth-order music algorithm is that it is insensitive to additive Gaussian noise regardless of whether it is white or colored so it can improve the precision of the DOA estimation. By comparing with the conventional algorithm, our proposed algorithm can obtain more than 45dB gain under SNR=10dB, which can obviously show an outstanding performance improvement. Finally, computer simulation results show that the novel algorithm can resolve up to one impinging signal with less than 0.15 degrees under SNR=0dB and provide an estimation with less than 0.6 degrees under SNR=5dB for two impinging signals coming from different angles.

Various methods employing RF signals, such as Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB, have been proposed for estimating the locations of people and objects. However, one of the major challenges impeding their widespread adoption is the time and effort required to manage these systems, especially in terms of recharging and replacing batteries. To address this issue, our study focuses on localization using backscatter tags, which boast ultra-low power consumption. These tags operate by backscattering surrounding radio signals, thereby creating a frequency shift in the backscattered signal. As a preliminary investigation into localization, we utilized the music algorithm, commonly employed for Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) estimation. We adapted this algorithm for use with our backscatter tags and assessed its AoA estimation performance. Our experimental results indicate that AoA estimation is achievable with an error of 10.8 degrees in a 5mx9m conference room.

Multiple signal classification (music) algorithm has been used for joint Direction of Departure (DOD) and Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation in Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) array. It has shown excellent angle estimation performance. However, the two dimensional angle peaks searching of MIMO music algorithm renders high computational complexity. In order to resolve this problem, a fast MIMO music algorithm for joint DOD-DOA Estimation based on Gibbs Sampling is proposed. The proposed algorithm combines Markov Monte Carlo method with MIMO music estimator. Firstly, the power of the MIMO music spectrum function is regarded as the target distribution up to a constant scalar, then the Gibbs sampler sample from the scalar, and the joint DOD-DOA estimation can be achieved from the linger position. Simulation results show that the proposed method not only keeps the similar DOA estimation performance which is achieved by the MIMO music algorithm, but also reduces the computational complexity.

To solve the problem, on-line detection way of rotor faults based on the music (Multiple Signal Classification) algorithm is presented, which the current signal of inverter DC side is acquired and processed by the algorithm to obtain the fault feature component.
